THE PLOT

It's 2024. Life has changed since the heyday of young Mr. Potter, now the head Auror at the Ministry. Victoire Weasley and Theodore Lupin have recently wed. James Potter along with many of his cousins have just graduated. Life is, shall we say, pleasant? Unfortunately for the do-gooder canons of this world, times are about to change once again. For generations, a group known as The Phantoms has lurked behind the scenes. They existed ever since the creation of the Ministry of Magic hundreds of years ago, their only consistency being their dislike and disapproval of the current reign of power. The Phantoms have picked up support as the Ministry has stayed in power, unhappy with the ways that purebloods still win out in the world and the mixed breeds are cowardly pushed back into the shadows. The Phantoms existed through the Death Eaters, some following Lord Voldemort, others having different political opinions. Now, a new leader has risen from the Phantoms' prison gangs of Azakban...her name is Mallory, and she no longer uses her last name. With her own complicate agenda, she intends to wreck the world as we know it and begin anew. For now, the Phantoms are taking their time, but their actions have become more public. A recent death of a Wizengamot member has alerted the public to the existence of dark magic rising once more. Hogwarts professors are being blackmailed. Disillusioned graduates are finding a home. The guerilla is rising. Other groups have talked of rising up. The Phantoms are still a fairly underground group, but the Prophet passes rumors and the government is on the look out. Vigilantes are ready on both sides of the politics, ready to protect who and what they love. For you see, there's a little darkness in everyone's heart. What truly matters is just how willing you are to accept your black heart.

FALL PLOT UPDATE

The school year has finally begun, and children all over Great Britain are thrilled to get their letters to Hogwarts for the 2024-2025 school year. The iPhone 20 has just come out, and the more muggle-inclined are texting much faster than their magic counterparts that are still struggling to keep up with letters. Leaves are falling, though one Ravenclaw's experiments seemed to have the leaves changing all sorts of crazy colors down by the lake. Hufflepuff is rumoured to have the best Quidditch team this year with Gryffindor tragically falling behind. Ravenclaw is determined to win from Hufflepuff, and Slytherin is still desperately seeking a new captain. Life seems good. This being said, strange things have begun to happen. A few students have not come back for their seventh year, claiming that they have found their path in life. Still others have become tight-lipped about their extracurriculars, not having time to just "hang out." Some parents, especially those in the government, are nervous about their lives and those of their loved ones, whether they've been threatened or not. At Hogwarts, all 5-7th year students are required to take a new class, Modern Political Magic. The course focuses entirely on recent political uprisings, forcing students to discuss views and to start coming up with their own ideology. Those who were already opinionated have a chance to shine, and those who claimed "neutral" have to reconsider just how "neutral" they think they are. Additionally, 7th years are automatically enrolled in a course entitled Combat with the Dark Arts, a strange new addition opposite the usual "Defense." It's controversial, sure, and some parents have pulled their students from Hogwarts and sent them to Beauxbatons. Still, nothing is too strange. Most are satisfied that their children will be more politically active and will be able to protect themselves in the case of a dark uprising. But the winds are changing. written by seth
