From Sepulchre to the cabin was a fairly long drive, half a day with a stop for lunch and another stop at the last exit to get supplies. It was a pretty drive though, the leaves turning from various shades of jade and emerald to deep crimsons and burnt oranges, the cool air felt good as it whipped along the roadside. The cabin had been her Gram’s since the old woman had moved to America, a place to store things for hunters without compromising the main home, but also it was a bit of an escape, close to a beautiful lake, surrounded by trees, a few marked up from where a young Aidan had practiced throwing her knifes and aiming her crossbow.

The first night back was always a long one, getting things set up, generator filled up and working, water turned on, fire wood cut, and that was just the work it took to get the place set up to be livable. Usually Aidan was on her own for most of her trips out to the wood, but this time around the cabin had a very special guest…one that required a bit more prep than just making sure she had enough peanut butter and jelly.

She would have never believed it before the last full moon that she’d be spending a full moon with a werewolf, and yet here she was. Pushing some grilled cheeses around in the pan on the stove her gaze was lost to the world outside, watching the sun start to set out the window as she tried her best to remember everything that she’d been going over with Caleb to present herself as an alpha tonight. Plating the food she grabbed up two steaming mugs off to the side before she tromped downstairs. The basement was a huge place, reinforced in every aspect, made to be a cage and a bunker. Weapons lined a wall, and on the other side of the basement was all the lovely work they had been put to that day. Chains sunk deep into the walls, a cage bolted down, all of took up a good portion of the room as she stopped on the bottom step, gaze falling to the werewolf still working.

”I made dinner. Tomato soup and grilled cheese, it gets cold down there so I figured you’d want something to warm up since you can’t hold me…dear heart Aidan snickered to herself, trying to lighten the mood for the night, ”Now I don’t know if I can show my face at that grocery store again the way that lady was carrying on with you. Who assumes anyone is going out to the middle of the woods with several pounds of raw meat for a romantic getaway? Either way your face was priceless, so it might be worth it on the way back.” Brining the food to a small table she set the food down, a quick errand that day, extra supplies from the only store for miles around to pick up extra meat and other supplies to sustain two people for the weekend. The older woman at the counter had giggled and cooed at them the whole time, talking about how cute of a couple they were. It had been a rather amusing part of a rather serious day overall.

”So, we’re ready for this, right Caleb?” Looking the cage over she tore into her sandwich and dipped it into the mug of soup, her stomach twisting itself up into knots, but she forced herself to eat. It was going to be a long night.

No one had even so much as batted an eye when Caleb said he was leaving for an early weekend. He was fairly certain his students were the happiest of them all, getting extra time on their latest assignment probably seemed like a godsend.

It was a long drive, but it was nice to be out of the city again, surrounded by trees instead of skyscrapers. Caleb drove for the fist half of the trip Aidan switching over after lunch so he could do the final bits of his wolf behavior 101 guide. He'd been working on it every chance he had since the night she'd 'broken' into his house. If left to his own devices the thing would have been a small handbook stead of some simple guide. He was trying to account for any and everything the wolf might do and he wanted her to be prepared.

The moment they got there, Caleb didn't have much time to stand there and admire the scenery, though it was a nice and well kept cabin and the area was beautiful, he had more pressing matters to attend to. First taste was unloading the near cow and a half of meat they'd purchased and cramming it into the freezer and fridge. Then it was onto the task of converting half of the basement into a cage. The basement on its own was a sound structure, there had been a lot of planning in its design sunk under ground with thick and reinforced concrete there was no way the wolf could take down a wall, he'd have to go through the bars, which wasn't about to happen. The bolt and chain that he'd be shackled to was the first and most critical item. Sunk deep deep into the floor with fresh high strength concrete. He measured religiously, making sure to mark a line before the bars that she shouldn't cross till trust had been established. Even at the end of the chain he could still grab her and that was what the line was to prevent.

Working with so much silver wasn't easy. He had to wear thick gloves and love sleeves to prevent burns. The smell of it was always overwhelming at times and he had to get out of the basement to get fresh air. Despite it all he trudged on, making sure everything was as safe and secure as he could. This was Aidan's life on the line, and his own.

The day of the full moon he found himself doing last checks making sure the concrete had set up that everything was bolted and locked down. He'd spent the morning spreading a bale of hay along the floor along with gathering branches and leaves to form a makeshift 'nest' in a corner some of the outside for the wolf to seek out.

With the cage prep done he'd been spending the last hour or so prepping meat. They'd left some to thaw and he was hacking it up into manageable chunks. He just hoped they had enough.

Hearing Aidan coming downstairs the smell of grilled cheese and soup following her, he tossed the last bits of meat into a bowl and went to the tub sink off to the corner to wash up scrubbing his hands. He rolled his eyes and snorted, toweling his hands off before moving to take a seat at the table with her. "Maybe that's how they do it out in the sticks. Nothing says I love you more then a hunk of meat." he jested shaking his head. Breaking one half of his grilled cheese further he bit a chunk out of it and raised his brows. "My face? I don't think you saw your face. You went white as a sheet and then beet red in five seconds. Which I think only amused her more. She probably wants to plan our wedding now." he chuckled sitting back and taking a sip of his soup.

[i]”so, we’re ready for this, right caleb?”[/b]

Swallowing down his drink of soup he licked his lips and then looked her dead in the eye. "We're ready for this Aidan. We've done everything we possibly can. And you're basically a minor expert of wolf alpha behavior. I've got enough meat here to feed a legit pack of wolves. It's up to him now, how he reacts to all of this, to you. If he's as timid as I think he is this will be much easier."

Aidan had spent her half of the drive trying to not bother the other writing up her “guide” and attempting to focus her mind on getting through the approaching full moon, and now that it was upon her the hunter couldn’t deny that she felt nervous…not that she couldn’t make it through the night, but that her newest companion in her short list of acquaintances wouldn’t. She couldn’t place when she’d started caring so much about him, but the day before in all their hard work Aidan had been checking and double checking everything, reading through everything that Caleb had given her on wolves. Hunting a wolf and being an alpha to one not even close to being similar…it was a whole new world and she had very little time to learn it.

”I was not blushing!” Aidan protested, feeling her cheeks warming up despite her protests as she took a vicious bite out of her sandwhich, grumbling around it a little. The woman had been so thrilled to see them, as if she didn’t see people most of her life. Aidan had tried to play along, a couple out for a romantic camping trip, it made more sense than two people who barely knew each other sharing a quaint little cabin. ”I will have you know that I was outraged she’d think I’d be your “little lady”. I think I’ll let the freshmen and sophomore girls enjoy that little fantasy for themselves. I’m saving myself for something special, and a science nerd werewolf isn’t that. Though I’m sure that look on your face was sheer elation at being paired with moi” Aidan quipped back before stuffing more food in her face, glancing at Caleb.

His confidence was comforting as she nodded, dunking an edge of her sandwich into her mug again, letting it soak, ”Good, I didn’t spend all that money on gas just to have us mess it up when we’re making a run for home base. I don’t feel like an expert in being an alpha, but at this point I would like to think I’m expert enough to get us through this. Do you think it will go down in one night though?” She got up, going to grab at the chains within the cage, the leaves and hay made it smell like autumn inside, less like the stale basement air as she picked up a long chain and collar, tugging on it a little finding it solid and strong.

”The moon is going to start getting up in about another hour if the reports are correct, anything you’d like to do in your last moments of humanity? Have beer? Play cards?” She stopped at the cage door, leaning on the bars, ”Have an intelligible conversation? We could just go over your guide again, should have made flash cards. Who knows, by the time all this is over I’ll have you playing fetch and rolling over.” Taking the key out of the pad lock she tucked it away in her jeans, she had all the keys, a tiny key ring tucked into her back pocket, ”Are you worried any of this might pass over into your human life like other aspects of your wolfyness? Giving up control is a pretty big thing dude.”

He tried his best not to grin, trying to hide it behind a mouthful of grilled cheese sandwich. It was just too amusing how easily worked up she got over it. "For the record I never called you my 'little lady' that was all her. I didn't insinuate anything. I'm half surprised we didn't get the 'is a sin to have sex before you're married' lecture>" he commented holding up his left hand. "Less she's part of some crazy murder family and her chainsaw wielding brother is coming tonight. He's gonna be in for a bit of a surprise." Caleb murmured just trying to imagine a werewolf fighting Jason or Leatherface. Be an interesting battle that's for sure.

Again all he could do was roll his eyes a little taking another sip of soup and polishing off the first half of his sandwich. "Honored and humbled beyond words." he teased before arching a brow "You said something special...not someone special. You holding out for the super buff star quarterback werewolf aren't you? I knew it!" he said pointing at her.

She'd devoured his guide, he'd never seen someone read so intensely before in his life. He'd been quizzing her randomly throughout the day and she's answered him correctly each and every time. He gave a little shrug, his hands wrapped around the mug. "I wouldn't place my bets on it happening all in one night. You'll have to win several times in displaying your dominance. If the wolf in me is that submissive, basically a born omega then it should be easier. If I had to wager maybe two or three times for certain. Oh before I forget." he got up from the table snagging a tripod and camera he'd packed and set it up off in a corner. "If it doesn't work in one night I can see what the wolf is like, we can adjust for the next attempt." he said plugging the camera into a socket. "Remember to turn it on before we lock me up."

Listening to her suggestions he tilted his head "You know? I'll take that beer." he said coming back to the table and sitting down a little heavy rubbing the bridge of his nose. He just shrugged at the mention of giving up control. "I'm already not in control. I'd rather it be you then the wolf. If it stops me from going out there and hurting someone, or worse. It seems like a small price to pay."

”We’ve never had sex!” Aidan’s voice shot up a little higher than she expected before she began to choke on a bit of grilled cheese, drinking her soup as she tried to clear her throat, face feeling very hot now as she started down at the table. She’d seen Caleb in the buff very clearly that first night they’d met, and in the morning she remembered him being pressed up close to her and his arms being very strong and yet so gentle. Her roommate had bemoaned the fact that he probably had a wife or girlfriend, and this man had spent nights just grading papers for company.

She frowned at his comment about chainsaw wielding psychos, shivering as she held up a hand, ”No, nuh-uh…you are not going to go all wolfy on me tonight and leave me with thoughts of some crazy person waiting for me. No.” Shuddering Aidan squirmed in her seat, ”Let’s not talk about horror movies or it’s going to make sleeping just an impossible task, ‘kay? We still have one more night after tonight out here.” Despite monsters being real Aidan had never liked horror movies, they were inaccurate, but the ones involving real people committing horrors to other people always left her checking over her shoulder.

"you said something special...not someone special. you holding out for the super buff star quarterback werewolf aren't you? i knew it!"

Aidan paled again, mouth hanging open before she set her gaze on him, ”You are no quarterback I’ll have you know. I’m not holding out for a werewolf…no…god I’m a hunter.” tearing off a part of her sandwich she threw it at his face before she leaned over and slugged him hard in the shoulder, ”I don’t have to share my love life with you, but trust me…whoever I end up with is going to be smart, strong, and actually someone who won’t freak out that I kill monsters for a living.”

Turning in her chair she looked at the camera curiously, it had been an odd item for him to include last minute into the whole pile of stuff in her jeep, but as he explained she just raised an eyebrow and smirked, ”Kinky, you like watching yourself do the thing. It makes sense though. I wish it could just be done in one go. Would make it a lot easier to see if it works then, trial and error on the first try and actually knowing.”

Getting up she went over to a small mini fridge in the basement, opening it up before she got out a small brown bottle, setting it on the table, ”Best part about having this place is there was never a drinking age when I was up here.” Sitting back down she finished her dinner, wishing she could join him in a beer though she knew she’d need all her wits about her tonight, ”Yeah, but aren’t you worried about me at all? I’m a hunter, I’m not exactly your bestie. Nothing would stop me from abusing the power if I had control. You trust me that much?”

Sighing she scratched behind her head, the sleeve of her flannel shirt falling down around her elbow, the damn thing too big for her frame, but it was warm against the cooler air, ”I won’t let you hurt anyone Caleb. I promise you that…it’s been my mission since I was a kid. That is what I do.”

”we’ve never had sex!”

Caleb's brows went high and he tried with all of his might not to laugh but it only devolved into a snort trying not the choke on his own grilled cheese himself. Trying to cover with another drink of soup he kept the cup in front of his face. "I'm aware of this." he said finally lowering the cup. Clearing his throat he held up his hands. "Just assuming what she...might...have..assumed?" he said with a quizzical brow before shaking his head.

Watching her he blinked a few times. "Have you seen the wall of weapons behind you?" he said nodding to it. "You chased after a werewolf in the middle of the woods at night. If anything? They should be afraid of you. But all right, all right, not more slasher talk I promise."

He didn't know why in was in such a mood but it was nice to get her flustered up for once. Catching the piece of sandwich aimed for his head he munched it down before the slug to his shoulder, which, actually kinda hurt. She had a really good right hook. "Okay, okay, ow, geez. Settle...settle. Someone really can't take their own medicine." he murmured before realizing he'd said it out loud and ducking another piece of her sandwich.

And they were back to him rolling his eyes at her as he adjusted the angle of the camera. "Mmm...so kinky you don't even know." he just muttered before coming back to the table. "I wish it could be too. I just don't know how the wolf is going to react to all this. Never been contained or shackled, there are so many unknowns to all of this. For all I know he could just sit in a corner and do nothing all night and refuse to interact with you."

Snorting dryly he took the beer from her. " Underage drinking, tsk, tsk. Thank you. I don't drink all that often especially around the full moon." Popping the cap with his thumb he caught it in his hand and tossed it lightly onto the table. Taking a long drink it burned all the way down his throat, a warmth crawling from his stomach and up his throat. Instantly he felt a little more relaxed, tension easing from him. Rolling the bottom of the bottle over and over all he could do was shrug. "Aidan at this point I really don't have a choice do I? I haven't been in control of my life since that the night I was attacked. Yes I'm putting a lot of faith in you, but you had a chance to kill me and everything you've been taught told you, you should have but you didn't."

Another long drink of his beer and it was already half gone. Setting the beer down he nodded. "Thank you for that. I've asked a great deal of you already."

Intimacy, she wondered if the woman really had thought Aidan was that close with the werewolf she now shared a dinner with. Her gaze flicked over him once, stomach doing a flip as she thought more on it before she shoved the whole thing from her mind, ”Well it’s a stupid assumption if you ask me.”

Aidan knew what weapons she had on the wall behind her. Some of them were her Gran’s, others were the weapons of the family she’d never known, it was both a museum and a weaponry, but that still did not allow room for nightmare fuel to be added into the talk, ”Just…just don’t talk about that kind of stuff. Werewolves I can handle…I hate all those movies where it’s a serial killer. It’s…not right. I spend too many nights out here on my own to have you talk about someone coming to get me. Those movies were made for guys to feel protective and girls to feel scared.” She frowned again, feeling stupid for not liking the movies, she could take down a serial killer, hell she could become a cop if she really wanted to…Aidan didn’t like it though and it made her feel nervous about how everything looked in the dark sometimes.

The hunter was already tearing off another piece to throw at him for his comments on her love life, ”You’re an idiot for a nerd. This is why you’re single, beast or not you can’t talk to a lady.” She felt her face start to go warm again when she threw the next bit, ”My own medicine, I’ve been a delight I’ll have you know, and this girl is going to be chaining your butt up soon so better watch yourself Dr. Warrington.” She pointed an accusing finger before she chose to eat what was left of her dinner.

Tilting back in her chair she propped her feet up on the table. ”I’ve been trying to think about how tonight is going to even go. Based off our first meeting you ran only when you realized it was a trap. Maybe you’re just as strong of an Alpha when you aren’t caught off guard” She snickered as he ripped the top of the beer with ease, muttering ‘show off’ under her breath as she stretched, ”Why no drinking? Afraid of wolfy one night stands? Most awkward walk of shame ever. Literal tail between your legs.” She wave a hand, chuckling to herself before what he said next sobered her up very fast.

”I don’t take well to failure.” Pushing off of the table she let her chair settled down on all four legs as she leaned in to him, wary for a moment before she put a hand on his shoulder, ”I didn’t think this thing would work when you first brought it up, so if it makes you feel any better to hear it out loud. I really do want this to work. You might be the only werewolf I let go free, but I don’t regret it as much as I thought.” She smiled a little before the phone in her back pocket began to go off.

”That’s the alarm, moonrise in forty five minutes. So, how do you want to play this? Do you need anything else?”

”well it’s a stupid assumption if you ask me.”

Again he was thankful for the mug that was in front of his face, but it no doubt only hid the smile so much. "Damn promiscuous youth ruining a perfectly innocent night of werewolf taming, the nerve." he teased, rather amused by it all.

Sitting back a little listening to her he smile and nodded again putting his hands up. "All right all right no more slasher talk. But if everything does work out like we hope, you won't be out here alone anymore. Still no more talk promise."

Dodging again and catching the bit she threw he tossed it back onto her plate. He just shrugged. "Book smarts and street smarts aren't the same thing. Being smart doesn't promise you're social adept. I believe that by definition is the nerd stereotype Miss McKinley." Reaching out he pushed her accusing finger down and shook his head. "Also thank you for promoting me to doctor. While I do have a PhD I prefer professor since it sounds a little less...pretentious."

He wasn't sure how tonight was going to go either. A trap or not the fact that the wolf had run, that had to mean something. If most charged and attacked, if most came at her and that's the only reason he was still breathing. That screamed to him at the very least a beta wolf if not an omega. He had believe that was a good sign."[/b] he grinned around the bottle hearing her clearly murmur 'showoff.' Rolling his eyes yet again he just leaned back studying the label for a moment the hops of the beer lingering on his tongue. "I don't like things that impair judgement. I've heard that older werewolves can turn at will. I'd rather not just suddenly...wolf out because I'm drunk. I also might let something slip. I might tell someone who I really am. I just can't take that risk. No drinking, no partying, no socializing, no dating. I caged myself up long ago it seems." he said going quiet as he thought about it.

Aidan grew serious and soon she was up on her feet, and her hand was on his shoulder. He looked at it for a moment and then to her. "I want it to work too. Not just for myself, for the both of us." he jumped a little at the alarm, having not expected it. He downed the rest of the beer, suddenly aware of the tension in his body. Shaking his head one final time he let out a breath. "No I don't need anything else, thank you." he said quietly. "Should start getting ready then."

In that moment Caleb’s words sank into Aidan’s thoughts…”I-I guess you’re right. I forgot that if this all works out you’ll be with me every moon. It’s not like I’d be cuddled up against a giant wolf trying to stay safe though.” The nights spent out here during the hunts were often ones she didn’t sleep soundly, looking over her shoulder every few minutes when she turned in after her runs. With Caleb now she wondered how much that would change, it wouldn’t be like a pet, but rather…”I’ve never had a hunting partner before. I mean not a regular one.” She muttered, running her hand along her neck, rubbing it as if she was trying to figure out how that would even work. ”Guess I’d need to get another bed for this place. The couch might not work for too long.”

Sticking her tongue out as he threw her piece of sandwich back at her she rolled her eyes before a mischievous glint came into them, ”So you’re admitting that you’re terrible with people...I mean if you don’t like women that’s fine, but really I think you couldn’t charm your way out of a paper bag. Shame with that face of yours, those poor foolish students.” Her tone became more haughty as she was corrected, eyes a little wider in mock surprise before she bowed her head, ”Oh of course Professor I would never want a professor like you to feel you’re being so pretentious even with your PhD. How silly of me” She gave a twittering little laugh, the sound rather hollow before she stopped and gave Caleb a rather telling look, ”That’s okay, I guess I like you enough, maybe I’ll help you find a good lady wolf doctor too.”

i also might let something slip. i might tell someone who i really am. i just can't take that risk. no drinking, no partying, no socializing, no dating. i caged myself up long ago it seems."

Things got quiet, even in the basement it was easy to hear the creak of the house settling in the cool autumn evening, dead leaves blew against windows, making a sharp skittering sound as animals who has not yet hibernated were still running around along the trees and roof. ”Nothing….?” The hunter questioned softly. The life of a hunter was one that was spent alone unless it was a family business, she’d always assumed that the werewolves ran in packs, but she’d never thought about how it could be lonesome. Clearing her throat she steeled her determination now, ”That sounds like a lame way to live, I guess we’ll just have to fix it.” It was a heavy mantel of responsibility to take on; she didn’t know why she was doing it. The money, the risks…it was a lot of losses for so few wins, but when she looked at Caleb she found herself wanting that win.

Shutting off the alarm she gave his shoulder a squeeze before she started towards the cage, ”Okay then, first things first…” She clapped her hands together, pushing up her sleeves as she looked around, before turning to Caleb on the heel of her boot with a blank stare, ”I actually don’t know what we do first, so take the lead professor.” She grinned, stepping out of the doorway to the cage.

"I didn't say you would be. But no, you wouldn't be alone. Not anymore. And god help anyone that tries to hurt you." he said not wanting to imagine what the wolf would do if anyone tried to mess with a member of his pack especially his alpha.

Shaking his head he waved her off. "Couch is fine. I wake up in the dirt. A couch will be a godsend trust me. You don't need to go redecorating just yet."

Raising a brow as she went out trying to bruise his ego he folded his arms in front of his chest and leaned back tilting his head to one side. "Are you quite done emasculating me Miss McKinley? Not sure if it's wise to be poking the wolf with a stick this close to the moon hmm?" he tossed back.

The haughty tone she took only made his groan and sigh before he reached out with his foot and pushed her chair a little, making it rock. "You are not finding me anyone. I told you. No one, and especially not another wolf. That's the last thing I want or need. It's the last thing either of us need. God I don't even want to imagine."

Caleb knew the life he was living was extremely lonely, even somewhat depressing. Aidan had a way it seemed to just point it out. He knew she was trying to make idle talk, trying to break the tension trying to get a laugh or reaction, but this close to the moon he couldn't help but feel a little irritated at all of her jabs at him right now.

"No...nothing." he said articulating perhaps a bit harsher then what he wanted. He didn't realize he'd been clenching his fists till he couldn't feel his fingers, the veins in his arms lifted. Letting out a heavy sigh he relaxed his fists and pushed a hand through his hair. "Look, I know....it's a lame dull lonely boring life. And if I'd had the guts to pull the trigger. I...I don't need a reminder...I get one, once a month." he said trying to be tactful. She was doing so much for him, but he could only take so much, this close to a full moon. "I know you're just poking fun, trying to ease tension. I know it's a shit life Aidan..."

Watching her get up and step into the cage, he slowly got up himself. Snorting a little at her expression he walked past a hand touching her arm briefly. "Shackles don't do much good if they aren't on now do they?" he asked tugging off his shirt and casting it aside. He'd bought a few things of cheese cloth to wrap around his wrists and ankles loosely. Shifting would shred the thin material to pieces but provide a buffer while he was still human. Taking off his pants he kept the briefs on before he sat down to wrap his wrists and ankles. "Help me with the shackles please?"

”I guess that means you’ll be my knight in furry armor then. Well I guess this does make things a little more interesting.” Aidan quipped, smiling softly at the thought of Caleb in any form defending her. Being alone wasn't so much a choice as it was just life itself, and she found herself oddly happy about it now, ”If you do a good job maybe I’ll let you sleep at the foot of the bed?” She laughed softly, trying to imagine a giant wolf curled up like some puppy…while it was an amusing image she worried about just what it would mean to tame a werewolf. There was only one way to find out.

Aidan grabbed at air before she was able to get herself balanced again, pouting at Caleb, ”I’m just concerned for you, that wasn’t nice. Here I am trying to make sure you aren’t lonely.” The tension was clear in his stance as well as his tone, but she cringed as he spoke about putting a bullet in him. She’d made enough snide comments of putting a bolt through him, loading him with silver, but to sit with a person talking now about taking their own life she suddenly felt guilty as she looked down. ”Tough crowd, and here I thought you liked my jokes.” Aidan didn’t take offense at the reprimand, ”Okay, I guess I don’t deal with serious things in the most appropriate manner. You should see me at funerals…it’s like where’s waldo, only the secret is I’m never there. Really, though…it’s how I cope.” She gave a hollow chuckle before heaving a sigh. She hadn’t even stayed at her Gran’s actually funeral…but the wake for the old woman the young redhead was quick to bring up funny stories or jokes.

”No bullet biting, and none of this my life is empty and meaningless…don’t…just get your head in the game, okay? This is going to work, and then we’re going to get you a life, no ifs, ands, or buts. That’s the point in all of this…I’ll always be a hunter, it’s the life I chose. Being a werewolf was sort of forced on you and you’ve got more to live for. You can’t stay in a cage forever, physically or metaphorically dude.” It scared her a little as she stood there in the cage door, she didn’t know when she’d started caring so much about all of this. ”Just help me figure this all out.”

Aidan made space for Caleb, a small jolt running through her at his touch, ”Well sure, if you want to be all technical. Shackles on, cage locked, is that really all there is---“ She trailed off a little as he stripped, eyes sliding over the lines of the muscles on his back, mouth going a little dry as she let her gaze slip down as he stared taking off his jeans before she forced herself to avert her gaze. She’d only seen him completely undressed, but she’d been so caught up in trying to kill him and then trying to find a reason to kill him that she hadn’t really had a chance to fully process and appreciate the sight. Licking her lips, before his voice cut through her train of thought, ”Yeah, shackles. I got those.” She grabbed them, rolling them out as she tried to make sure nothing got tangled or twisted, nothing could be compromised this close to moon time.

Getting the first one she moved down to his feet, the heavy silver alloy cold in her hands as she knelt to lock it on around his bandaged ankle, ”How does it feel?”

He snorted. "Not exactly sure how practical furry armor would be...trying to imagine it and it just looks...weird." he said shaking his head. Even though he knew she was more then capable of protecting herself, knowing she was out hunting creatures like himself he couldn't help but feel a need to keep her safe. Once she and the wolf had bonded he wondered how much deeper that need to keep her safe was going to be. But, at least the two of them wouldn't be alone anymore. And two sets of eyes were better then one. Along with a few hundred pounds of muscle attached to claws and teeth. "The foot of the bed? See how you're just spoiling me." he mused with a chuckle. "I'd probably break the bed. Or at the least break some springs."

Caleb had tried, he'd well and truly tried to keep himself in check over the last two days. But down to literally minutes before the full moon Aidan had picked a bad time. "Dealing with one werewolf is enough. Last thing I need is another." he said shaking his head.

Letting out a long and heavy breath he scrubbed his face hard trying to get the tension out. "Any other day Aidan I'd take it all in stride without blinking. Now is just...a really bad time. Just...just stick to the lap dog werewolf jokes okay? I know you mean well."

He's been in a dark place numerous times since he'd been turned. Many nights he sat with a gun in his hand, had it in his mouth. Eventually he sold the gun, not wanting the temptation there anymore, tired of putting himself through that. Looking up at her as she spoke of getting him a life that he needed to stop talking like that he clenched his jaw eyes on the ground. He felt like he was being chided, and he was to a degree. He nodded and sucked in a deep breath. "You're right." was all he could muster.

They were both adults, and Aidan had seen him nude before. Besides he had to take off as much as possible if he didn't want to shred all of his clothing. Underwear was easily replaced and it didn't make it totally awkward.

The acrid smell of silver was heavy turning his stomach a little. He watched her lock the first shackle. He waited a moment trying to feel for a burn, but all he felt was the weight of the shackle. "Heavy..doesn't burn though, bandages seem to work."

Aidan gave a small nod, cheek turning pink again as she looked down. She wasn’t good at this, at not cracking jokes every which way when things were on the line. It was easy when it was a point and shoot type of problem, something that a sharp silver thing could fix in moments, but this was time and effort and worry. This was a do or die situation that wasn’t down to her or Caleb, it was down to Caleb versus Caleb and it sat uneasy with her. ”Lapdog jokes, got it, I mean you’d probably crush my lap, but I’ll stick to those jokes. Who knows, might be able to find you a large purse to carry you around in…well drag around in.” She cracked, offering and uneasy smile.

The pep speech felt like it had gone over like a lead balloon as she eyed him, trying to be encouraging, ”Hey, of course I’m right, you stick to being good about wolves and microbes and I’ll stick to being awesome at the rest of life and all the knowledge one can have.” It was hard to take the shake out of her hands as she gathered all the dishes, ”I mean you’re going to need a life once we’ve got things all under control, you really can’t spend it hanging about with a teaching assistant, you’ll ruin my rep with the students man.” Getting the chains she tried to distract herself from him undressing. ”I mean we could always schedule walks to take you out on. Maybe a few play dates. Fetch, roll over, all that stuff. I’m rather excited for us to get this done and over with. Never had a pet.” She babbled, more to herself, the quick clipped tone carrying in the basement over the sound of rattling chains.

Moving around to the other side she began to get the next set of chains ready, moving to sit by his leg, glancing at the now bound one as she waited for the verdict, ”Good, we’ve got time before you change I would guess, it would suck if you spent the last few moments of human tonight in total pain.” She bound his other leg, one hand resting on the silver. The metal was cold to the touch for her, no burning, no discomfort, it was harmless to her as she trailed her gaze along the line of the heavy chain before she looked up at him, ”So, any last minute things I should know? Pop quiz?”

She reached for the bonds that would go around his wrists, fiddling with it as she got to her knees, getting closer to him as she held it out to him to put his arm in, ”You know if you let me do all the talking I’m going to get tired, how are you holding up now?” She bound both his wrists, sitting back on her heels a bit as she looked everything over, ”This is really happening. Okay, any last-last requests? Another beer, something stronger? I could set some mood music if you want.” She slowly got up to her feet, brushing the hay off of her jeans.

It got a soft chuckle from him. "Okay not literally a lapdog persay. I doubt I'd fit on a couch let alone a lap. I wonder how comfy a werewolf would be to sit on. Beat I'd make a halfway decent furry papa san chair."

Listening to her trying to turn the conversation around he chuckled low in his throat. "Yes god forbid your rep is tarnished with the students. Can't have a professor enraptured by your looks drag you down that would just be a travesty." he mused with a lopsided grin. If this worked, he could actually have a life, at least for the most part. Aidan and him would have to be together during the full moon. Might make it awkward for a relationship, but that was , way, way down the line. They just needed to focus on tonight and getting him through it in one piece.

He chuckled a little more shaking his head. "Playdates? Pretty sure someone is gonna notice that your dog is bipedal and taller then you. Fetch, rollover, play dead I think those are all doable. I'm always down for walkies." he joked with a grin. "Make sure you got a pocket full of milkbones."

He hoped the bandages would keep the burn of the silver off of his skin till the last possible second and it seemed he was right. There was enough fabric there to block the contact with his skin. He knew the silver was harmless to her, but seeing her handle it, it was like watching someone shove their hands into a flame. "Be sure to wash your hands really good before handling any of the meat. A stray fleck of silver would be very bad."

Caleb went quiet trying to think of anything he might have overlooked that Aidan didn't seem solid on, but when he'd quizzed her over and over again she knew it all. "Just remember to read the signs. Ears, teeth, hackles, tail, and eyes they will tell you everything about what the wolf is thinking. Show him trusting you is a good thing. You provide food, you're a benefit to him, but the moment he tries to challenge, tried to dominate you, you can't back down, not for a moment, because he won't. He might be an Omega but even they will fight for dominance."

Threading his wrists through the shackles it felt like all of his limbs were in concrete the sheer weight of the shackles and chain themselves was staggering. Lifting up an arm he let it drop the chain clanking loudly. "If I'm honest? A little nervous, but I know you'll be fine. You know what to do. You've got this Aidan any and everything I've thrown at you behavioral wise you nailed, you know how to talk wolf. I just hope he's willing to listen to you."

He could feel it, it always felt like a queasiness a flash of heat washing over him lifting sweat over his skin. Sucking in a breath he closed his eyes. "This is really happening, it-it's starting." he said getting to his feet with a bit of effort. He shook his head chuckling one last time before his brows pulled together another wave of heat and queasiness hitting him. "No drinks no mood music. Just...be here with me. I have a few more minutes before the change actually starts."

”Do you hear yourself? Honestly man, I would think by the sound of it you like holding me all the time. Then again with how warm you are without the fur I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t even have to turn on my heat all winter if I had you around.” Aidan’s brows furrowed as she stared at Caleb trying to remember the giant beast and then attempting to imagine it curled up like any other pet. ”I’ve only been able to really see your kind in action, violence, running away, that strength…vampires are probably just as bad, but it’s hard to make cuddle jokes about them. The first domesticated werewolf though maybe they won’t be jokes for too long. Who knows, might mean the end of my family business…well…my business.”

Aidan was glad that despite some of her other jokes that Caleb was making a few, it felt like things were normal for a bit as she snorted, a grin pulling across her lips before she looked down, ”See? Getting better at the lie we’ll have to use for later. Good job prof.” She didn’t really spend that much time with students, or other kids her age…maybe a few here and there, but in general Aidan often just gave them the surface knowledge of her life. Caleb actually knew more about her than any of her “friends” she’d spend lunch with talking about evil professors and grad papers. ”I’ll just say you’re a special breed, or just a really weird mutt.”

There was something unnerving about chaining another person up, she almost felt claustrophobic for him, the cage and the chains…it was like something out of the horror movies that she was trying to put so far from her mind. ”Wash the hands. I’ll go do that once I go get the camera set up for you.” Aidan straightened herself up and stepped out of the cage, rolling up her sleeves as she went to the laundry sink near a far corner, turning the water on hot as she ran her hands under it, listening to him recite everything they’d been going over for the last several days. ”Don’t worry, if there is one thing I’m good at, it’s intimidating people. Even if the big bad wolf underestimates my size I’ve got my ways. I kicked your butt once, I can do it again.” She moved to turn on the camera, battery full, memory ready to be filled with the record of the night.

Coming back to the cage she stepped in, moving to steady him as he got up. The chains were heavy just to carry, surely they had to be a pain to have wrapped around your limbs, trying to move anything. ”Glad you’ve got confidence in me. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the insides to know that you trust me when you’re warm and fuzzy on the outsi---” Her hands move to his chest, helping him up fully to his feet, he felt like he was burning with a fever as she looked up at him, ”I’m going to be with you the whole night, good luck trying to get rid of me.”

Her expression softened a bit as she reached up, palm pressed to his cheek, ”We’re going to get through this in one piece Caleb, and I’m not just saying that. It’s going to work, but just for good luck…” It was impulse, it could all fail, but she wasn’t trying to think of that. She felt bad that he'd been alone for so long, that it had come to this. They'd started off as enemies, but now she could decide his survival of this night. Stepping in she pushed herself up on her toes, her other hand moving to cup his cheek before she pressed a soft kiss to his lips before she let go a moment later, dropping back as she stepped out of the cage, cheeks a little flushed as she moved to lock the door, ”Don’t say I’ve never done anything nice for you now.” She leaned against the bars, watching him with a sad little smile.
