DATE OF BIRTH: I was born on January 9, 1960.
YEAR: I'm a Seventh Year.
HOUSE: Slytherin, of course. That's where all the ambition and talent in the school is held, after all.
WAND: Dragon Heartstring, Ebony, 13 1/2 inches.
BLOOD STATUS: I have the misfortune to share my father's disgusting genes, so I regret to say Halfblood.
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual. Don't listen to what Sirius says, he's just a prick.
FAMILY RELATIONS: Tobias Snape and Eileen Prince. (parents)
PATRONUS CHARM: My best childhood memory? It probably was the day I met her... we were both just kids then, but I still remember it vividly. The day I found out she was a witch would probably describe it more accurately, actually. It was the first time I was able to have a friend, really... and she was so amazing. I forget when it was that I realized I loved her, but I really did. Her sister hated me, sure, but I didn't care about her. I only cared what Lily thought, after all. That little playground on our street, the days when we'd do wandless magic together in preparation for school... all of those memories are my happiest.
How could my patronus be anything but the same as hers? It's a doe.
DEMENTOR: I've had many different things that could easily be called horrible, but one thing that stands out as my worst memory... And no, don't give those idiotic apes the satisfaction of thinking it was their pranks. I've dealt with their torment for years now... It was the day that I lost my best friend. Potter and his gang were doing their usual torments... embarrassing me in front of a crowd as usual. It was humiliating. They even had the gall to use one of
my own spells against me.

That was when she had stepped in, on my behalf. I wasn't thinking, I was just... I was fed up with it all. I didn't mean to hurt her... I didn't even realize I said it until it was too late. I can't believe that I could say something like that to her of all people, the person I love most on this earth. I didn't mean to, I didn't: but I'd said it. Everyone else I hung out with used it, I suppose it was subconscious. And she was trying to defend me, but didn't she see that all she was doing was emasculating me?! A GIRL coming to my defense?

But it was that stupid little word that lost me my only TRUE best friend... the only girl I'd ever loved. I'm an idiot... and now she's lost to me... because of that stupid stupid word.
BOGGART: His Bogart is James Potter sneering while his hand is around Lily's waist possessively. her arms draped over James's torso. James is sneering and making fun of Snape, adressing him as "Snivellus," and telling him how now Lily belonged to him. Lily, meanwhile, has her throat slit, the blood writing "MUDBLOOD" over her otherwise stainless white shirt, her eyes staring back at Snape with an angry, hurt expression. Her lips form the words "I hate you," but the words never leave her lips.
AMORENTIA: -Mint
-Fire
-Books
-Rain
Peppermint, like the candies I always keep around in my pockets, and the smell of ink drying on new books, kind of like how a library smells, but stronger. I always loved the smell of freshly printed books... they're so crisp and clean. There's the smoky, dull aroma of fire, too, like when you sit next to a fireplace. Contrasting that is the fresh smell of rain... I always loved rain.
VERITASERUM: - His first secret is his identity as the Half-Blood Prince. No one knows that he is the one who created all of those spells, and his potions book contains a majority of his creations. The name isn't something known around school, and he'd like to keep it that way.
- The second secret is his incredible love for Lily Evans. While it might be apparent to several people at the school, he never admits to it and hardly talks about it. For fear of ridicule few of his Slytherin friends know of it, if any at all.
MIRROR OF ERISED: I see Lily with her hands around my arms, leaning her head on my shoulder. She forgives me, and.... s-she loves me... we're together. There is a ring on her finger, and on mine as well, and I see a house in the background. ....Just the two of us, perfectly happy, together....

APPEARANCE: Severus always had rather defined features. He never had an incredible amount of muscle, as he is anything but athletic, yet at the same time he rarely acquired fat. (His mother said he had his grandfather's metabolism to thank for that.) His height coupled with his lean, slim figure caused him to look awkwardly lanky growing up. Since his early school days he has grown into his body a bit more, but fragments of his awkward pubescent body still remain. He is a bit bony, serving to give his facial feature incredibly striking qualities.

He has a strong jaw and high cheek bones which gives him at times a bird-like look. His nose is hooked ever so slightly, which often prompted the other kids in school to tease him. His hair is somewhat messy, though now that he has begun to live independently he has started taking better care of it. It is incredibly dark black and shaggy, often falling into his eyes. As many times as he showers, though, it always seems to retain the tiniest look of greasiness, which also gave the other kids more things to tease him about. His hair falls down about midway down his neck, and he has never let it be long enough to touch his shoulders. Usually a dark brown, almost black, he has gotten magical contacts that change his eyes to an incredibly bright blue, though once that stops tickling his fancy Sev most likely will go back to his usual color. (He only got them per Lucius' whimsy one trip out to Hogsmeade)

There is a scar on his lower torso running from his right hip up to his rib, but not many people have seen it and he doesn’t like talking about it. Usually it is kept covered up.
PERSONA: Many people call me bitter. You'd expect me to disagree, yet I don't. Of course I'm 'bitter,' and I have every right to be. I had done NOTHING to those annoying little brats, and they took it upon themselves to make my life a living hell. As if it hadn't been bad enough already WITHOUT them adding their hand to my pain. All of it was that Potter's fault... he was their ringleader. I hate them, all of them. When one thing happens to change for the better, when one person finally accepts me, they steal her away. The way they strut around the castle, as if they own the place, even having the gall to use my own creations against me!... Am I bitter? Bitter can't describe the extend of my feelings, not in the least...

I've heard others call me cruel, harsh, or unfair. What a bunch of sniffling little brats. The world is a cruel place, they need to get used to it. I'm honest, I speak my mind, whether they like it or not. Playing 'nice' doesn't get you anywhere in this world... if I don't like you, I'll tell it to your face, and there is nothing you can do about it. I'm not a bad person, I'm just honest. At least I do you the courtesy of telling you the facts. You all need to grow up and let go of mommy's hand.

...I am not a 'people person,' by any means. I don't usually make a point of pursuing friendly terms with someone, and usually people only manage to give me a throbbing headache. Company is nice, yes, but you won't find me going out looking for it. It seems like a waste of time, really. Besides, I already have friends if I ever get bored. Lucius and his crew are more than enough company for me, though at times even they can sicken me. Another waste of my time are Muggles. They're annoying, slow on the uptake, ignorant, and frustrating. Just because you are born with a different view of the world doesn’t mean you have a free pass to be just plain stupid! Ugh. Oh, I have no issue with Muggleborns, mind you, for I am not a blood purist, but Muggles themselves aggravate me to no end.

…Excuse me, what was that? Love? You think I don't know the meaning of that word? Oh this is rich. You think that I'm heartless, do you? Well think again... know-it-alls like yourself are the real heartless ones. I have seen true beauty, perfection in the form of a girl. Of course I have loved... I am human, so I am condemned to continue on loving her, and I will love her always. You wouldn't understand what true, honest love was even if it stood right in front of you. Heartless... what a joke. At times I wish that I didn't have one.

Severus Tobias Snape was born as the only child to a pureblood witch mother, and a muggle father. The boy was an outcast from society, awkward and clumsy, always wanting to make a good first impression but never seeming to be able to do so. He looked down on those around him for not being "special", as his mother called it, like him. His father always chastised him for his ability... but he knew that it was only because he was jealous, because he wished he could be a wizard too. That was what Severus kept telling himself, anyway.

His father, Tobias, had an intense hatred of magic, and also had the awful little hobby of drinking. Severus always was messing up, always was getting in the way, and never was good enough. Every time he slipped up, every time his father had a bad day, Severus always paid for it. It is easy to hide the bruises, especially when your mother is a witch, but the emotional bruises stayed. His shy, awkward attitude around others all came from his fear of one person: his father. His father taught him how to hate muggles... In Severus's eyes, all muggles were stupid and cruel, like his father... Especially a one Petunia Evans. Petunia despised Severus, and he equally despised her. She lived just down the street from him, but little did he know of her sister, Lily.

If Petunia Evans was the moon, then Lily Evans was the sun. The two were complete opposites in every manner, and the way Petunia repelled Severus, Lily attracted him. The young, ginger haired girl was the first person ever to really be sweet to the young, awkward little boy, and he attached to her immediately. Of course, it also helped that she happened to be a witch, just like Severus was a wizard. She was the one person in the world he could really relate to.

From then on the two did everything together... they played, they studied, and they even ended up going to the same school: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Though they were separated not only into two separate houses, Severus into Slytherin and Lily into Gryffindor, they happened to be sorted into the two houses with the most intense rivalry between them in the school. Surprisingly enough, this didn't stop their friendship. Severus turned out to be a true prodigy, and excelled in many areas of magic. Often the two would sit and study together, Severus always glad to help Lily out wherever she didn't understand something. He didn't know exactly when he realized it, but... he had fallen in love.

Lily Evans was probably the only true friend he had at the school, though his Slytherin brethren adopted him into their number politely enough. The shy, awkward little boy admired the older Slytherin boys... how could he not? In the common room they were treated like celebrities, and they had inducted little Sevvy into their group. Lucius Malfoy was one of the popular ones, and someone Severus always seemed to respect. Of course, being younger than the others, and not nearly as popular or influential, he had to maintain his value... Severus was a genius, after all, and a true prodigy. When one of his so called 'mates' needed an essay? Severus could get it done. When they needed some help in potions? Go to that little Snape kid. He wanted to badly to be accepted, to be one of them... and would do anything to keep being one of them. Those boys may have treated him like a 'friend', but deep down he knew that they didn't really care about him... in fact, they didn't really care about one another either. Each one held his own needs above his friends', but that was expected among them. Lily truly was his only real friend.

His life at Hogwarts, unfortunately, was doomed to be a living hell as soon as he met a certain individual. A boy named James Potter had targetted Severus as the subject of his own personal torment, hating him from the moment he had laid eyes on him. James was a Gryffindor, and though Lily often intervened, Severus was constantly harrassed as well as publicly humiliated. Day in and day out, James and his gang never let up on him. One of James and his friends' (they called themselves the Marauders) little pranks almost killed Severus even, though Potter was able to call it off before any harm was done. Even after that, they still did not relent on tormenting the poor boy. Severus was a prodigy, as mentioned earlier, and especially excelled in the Dark Arts. He was brilliant at creating his own spells, and unfortunately sometimes his spells leaked into other parts of the school. Potter even had the gall to use Severus's own spells on him. (It really didn't help that Potter had a crush on the same girl Severus was in love with.)

One day was worse than all the rest, though. Enraged, humiliated, and not thinking straight, he lashed out against James in an attempt to regain his dignity, and in the process called Lily a mudblood. After all, all of his Slytherin "friends" used the term... they had an impact on him. He wanted to fit in, didn't he? And most of them were blood purists... This incident tore Lily and Severus apart, and ripped their friendship to shreds. She hasn't been talking to him much after that, and Severus has turned even more isolated and dependant on the older, cruel Slytherin House members.

But he has never stopped loving her.

Ugh. What a day. Well, she supposed it hadn't actually been a full day as it was only really approaching one o'clock in the afternoon, but it sure felt like it had been. Charity came in from the back of the store with a sigh, putting the side of her pointer finger up to her mouth to suck on it. Just earlier today they'd gotten a shipment in of The Flying Book of Flight, a book that gained surprising popularity for reasons Charity had yet to understand. The binding that held the books' wings (yes, wings) down had fallen off the books in one order, so they had taken it upon themselves to try to fly free. For the past forty minutes or so Charity had been chasing the book up and down the back room strapping the books' wings back down, and had gotten a rather annoying paper cut as a result.

Luckily so far that day had been rather slow, and she hadn't heard any customers come in while she was dealing the books in the back. It was nice working in a bookstore, as usually you didn't have to deal with the kind of rush that places like the Leaky Cauldron would get. They never needed that many people on staff, except during the school rush in the summer or in the case of an author signing.

Charity took her finger back from her mouth and inspected the small little line marking on her skin. It stung a bit, but she'd had worse. She'd just have to put a band-aid on it when she got home. Stretching, she looked around the shop. Everything seemed just like she left it, as usual, and there wasn't a single customer in sight

Heading back into the other room, she grabbed a box of the (now completely) bound books, and carried them out to sort them on the shelves while humming "Love Me Do" by the Beatles. The young witch had been so caught up in her own little world that she'd almost missed the man in the back of the store as she passed him.

She blinked in surprise as she caught sight of him, bending down obviously in search of something. Oh! Since when has he been here?! Hurriedly she set the box down in the other row before scuffling back, clearing her throat and putting on the smile that made her so good at customer service. "Um, Excuse me sir, can I help you find something?"
