JORDANA ST. JOHN
RECREATIONAL DREAMER | DEALER/THIEF you create the world of the dream
THE BASICS.
full name: Jordana Cvetka Elsie St. John
nickname(s): Jord, Jordy, Jords, Ana
age: 17
birthday: January 8
totem: A small statuette of St. Jude - the patron saint of lost causes. It's weighted in a very specific way, and will often spin in a circle if tipped on it's side in the real world. In the dream, if dropped, it will land and not move.
forgive me for wanting a little specificity
THE APPEARANCE.
height: 5'8"
build: Curvy
eye color: Brown
hair color: Black
general appearance: Jords is one of those girls that's incredibly pretty - and, unfortunately, is also incredibly aware of it. Sure, she doesn't have much... or really
any money, but she makes due with her clothing choices. Most often she'll wear clothes from Wal*Mart and Kohls and the like that she and Marcella shoplifted, and considering they're all stolen, she dresses surprisingly well. Most of her clothes are well fitted, hugging the curves of her body.
Her favorite outfits tend to show off her long legs, though she gets to wear these far less than she would like. In the winter months she often finds herself forced to wear tights under her dresses, or nice tops with tight skinny jeans. It's all about
accentuating her curves with Jordana.
Her jewelry tends to be fairly simple, though no less nice for that. Hoop earrings, generally, on occasion a ring, and a silver crucifix, from before she left home. Marcella has also created a bit of a makeup fiend in Jordana as well, and her makeup is often done, generally by Marcella since they share the same makeup stash.
Jordana has a mixed blessing when it comes to looks - she doesn't quite look her age. She's a little too curvy, a little too mature looking for a seventeen year old. Her body is slightly toned purely out of necessity, rather than any real drive to work out. Her curves still have softness to them, however.

THE PERSONALITY.
personality: For Jordana, her life has never really been easy, and in a lot of ways it shows. She's cynical, with a high tendency towards distrust. She doesn't like most people, and, more importantly, she probably doesn't trust you either. Jordy was always a troublesome child, prone to disappearing for hours without a word, and back-talking teachers and authority figures in general. Not much has changed there - she has a mouth on her, and not much of a filter. Or, if she does have a filter, she usually doesn't tend to use it.
Unless she's selling, that is. Seeing her at work is like seeing a side of her you didn't know existed. The crude language drops, and she goes towards convincing. Oh, she'll never
push, in the general use of the word. But she'll talk about whatever it is she's trying to sell - how it affects her, what the high is like... She becomes more charming, more outgoing towards those she doesn't know. Generally the way she sees things is there's business, and then there's pleasure, and it's only going to be messy if you mix the two.
Despite her having dropped out of high school when she ran off, Jordana is
smart. It's just how she
applies these smarts that most people take issue with. She's the sort who will try and catch people's weaknesses and manipulate them. She'll appeal to whatever side she thinks is necessary when she wants something, and when she wants something she can be pretty vicious and determined when it comes to getting it. She's stubborn to a fault, the kind of girl that will beat her head against a figurative wall just to try and get what she wants.
Generally, however, Jordy is a bit abrasive. She's sarcastic and teasing, the type to poke at someone just because she can, and if it's someone who doesn't know her, who can't tell when she's serious and when she's just being playful it can be fairly offensive. She has this bad tendency to curse like a sailor and drink like a fish, not to mention her occasional drug use.
To those she's really,
genuinely close to, however, Jordana is loyal. Fiercely so. The others in Santiago's little gang
are her family now, in her eyes. Anyone else, she'd leave out in the cold. She'd abandon them for her own well-being. But for them, there's an exception there, a weakness. Because for Jordy they're more family than her own parents, she would be willing to do almost anything for them, and heaven help any who decides to fuck with her makeshift family.

skills: +Theft - Obviously she doesn't do major robberies, no breaking into houses or holding up stores, but minor shoplifting, she can do. She's also a particularly good pickpocket.
+Charming - this is mostly shown when she's working, but when she wants to be, Jordana can be damned charming. She'll smile at the right times, laugh at the right jokes... She likes having people wrapped around her fingers, and she's learning how to get them there.
+Creation - It's not really architecture per say, but Jordana is quite good at creating dreamscapes. They may have slightly off details, and they may not be mazes, but they're fun and interesting and quite often massive.
weaknesses: +Uncertainty - Confident as she can come off, Jordana has no idea where her life is going. What, do you really think she wants to live on the streets forever? No sir. She doesn't want to sell drugs forever either. She just... doesn't know what to do instead. It's scary.
+Her parents - they're a sore subject for her. She had run off, expecting them to at least try and find her when things were sorted out. And then they just... never did. It stings more than she likes to admit.
+Unable to fight - Really, Jordy is very lucky. Life on the streets isn't easy, but she was never put in a situation where she would have to defend herself, and living with Santiago has removed that necessity from her life, for the most part.
fears: +Anyone in their little group dying
+Overdosing
+Jail/Prison (She just knows she'd become Big Bertha's bitch. Not pleasant.)

THE HISTORY.
current residence: Washington D.C.
hometown: Anacostia, Maryland
family: Father - Jeromé St. John
Mother - Anka St. John
history: +Born to a Haitian father and a Serbian mother - an odd mix, she knows, but for most of her life her parents were very much in love, in so far as she knew.
+Her father immigrated from Haiti - there was a mixup when he came over, however, and his surname (originally Saint-Jean) because St. John. He never really bothered to fix it.
+Her mother was first-generation American, her parents having immigrated from Serbia when she was still in the womb.
+They were always at the lower-end of middle class, but they made it through.
+Jordana was their first, and only, child.
+She was raised in Anacostia, Maryland - not exactly a good place, or a safe place, but they made due.
+Life was fairly simple, good even, until she was around 14. Her mother lost her job, her father was forced to take a pay cut.
+As the stress built, and times got tougher, her father took to drinking.
+What started as minor drinking grew. And grew. Until stress and alcohol led to more and more fights with her mother, and eventual physical abuse towards both his wife and his daughter.
+One night, after a particularly nasty fight between her and her father, with her mother failing to intervene, Jordana ran. She was 15, nearly 16 at the time.
+Jordana spent a good four months on the streets of D.C. on her own. If her parents ever did try to find her after she left Anacostia, she hasn't heard anything.
+She was offered a way to make money that didn't involve selling her body (Hey, fuck you, she has her pride) by Santiago. More importantly, she was offered a place to stay, a roof over her head.
+Jordy has lived with Santiago and the other kids for nearly a year now, and while life is definitely harder, it also has a definite sense of freedom that her old life lacked.
canon or original: Original
other: +Hatian/Serbian in descent.
+Is fluent in French and English. She also knows a bit of Haitian Creole
+Will often joke that she was raised 90% Catholic, but 100% voodoo.
