Let's start with a question; do we need another album by Alice Cooper? The answer is "yes" if you are not one of those who only know him from the -commercially very succesful- album "Trash". Mr. Cooper's last two releases shows us a new direction when we compare them with "Brutal Planet" and "Dragontown" albums. A new direction but at the same time a very old one. With the common expression, he turns his face to his roots, suddenly he remembers what his musical attitude was all about when he first started his career back in the day. In the light of this attitude he has put out a very retro sounding album with all the right ingridients of his creation: Horror-Rock. So even when he's singing a happy-sounding, partying tune, you can't help yourself to think something frightening is on the way. It's his unique way to tell his small, well-crafted horror stories. So this new release has 12 new stories(and a bonus one with Xzibit) of the Mr. Horror-Rock himself with a production of Steve n'Rick. I can't say it's one of his best albums, it doesn't maybe in top 5 of his discography but my overall opinion about Dirty Diamonds is, it's quite an entertaining album with some killer and some filler songs. So it's your choice to go and buy it.

.........

also a quote from "dude, where's my car?" biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

so how about Alice Cooper?
i have a question for you, kilgortrout
do you believe that Alice Cooper can do a better album than Dirty Diamonds in the future? or do you think that he just dont need to be as good as he was, all you want from him is to release albums, no matter how good they are because he is Alice Cooper, already a legend!

he is already a legend, that's for sure.
i would like to hear new stuff from him until he decides not to release anything new. I wish he would have done a "concept" album instead of these last two ones. A concept one with the retro sound of last 2 releases. That would be really nice.
This problem is valid for all the classic bands which release new albums. We can ask the same question for bands like Rolling Stones, UFO, and hmm maybe for Savatage tongue.gif too.
Would you buy a brand new Savatge album just because it is a Savatage album no matter it's good or bad?

actually i would probably buy the new Savatage album but i think that is not a good example because savatage is still doing great...
i think the main thing is.. some of them are real legends and there are some of them we made a legend for ourselves.. and after that we are not looking for a good album but just an album.. but the truth is; enough is enough..

No, no, no, no! Not another In Flames album, specially not if it's in same style as soundtrack to your escape or what it's called, it's not worth to be remembered however. If it sounds like Reroute To Remain or Clayman, or even older like Lunar Strain, then it's more than welcome though. smile.gif

That was pretty much off topic though. I've heard the new Alice Cooper album and I think it's really good. Fun that he also did a duet with that rapper xzibit as a bonustrack. smile.gif

Being a lifelong fan i always get excited to hear something new from him. His current album [Dirty Diamomds] is excellent...no grand concepts or pulled punches - just a good old and gritty sounding stripped down rock n roll album. I love it to death! wink.gif

a review by Mike Baker <voice of Shadow Gallery>

ok ok ok
it seems that the world needs another album by Alice Cooper huh.gif

but i still don't tongue.gif biggrin.gif
