Okay, so I added the ability to roll dice to the boards. The dice rolls will come into play during contracts and things like fighting, escape scenes, etc: basically anything where there are 1x1 interaction between characters (but not like kissing or sex or nothing- "She rolled a 5! Sex move was extra sexy!" is just stupid). I have yet to figure out how I want to make it officially a part of the site, but for now, here is what you do. If you are engaged in some sort of scuffle with the enemy, you would start the post with: [Entering PvP scenario] : This lets people know that the thread has changed to a PvP-style of play for the rest of the thread until otherwise noted. All posts made after PvP is entered must be in the following format. 1) [Entering PvP scenario] 2) Roleplay it out. 3) Attempt made. 4) One sentence summary of attempt. 4) Dice Roll. #1 was already talked about. #2 means that you will continue to roleplay out what your character is doing like you would normally do. The word count is still 200 min/ 300 min for canons. #3 is what you are attempting to do. Your roleplay post should end with an open-ended sentence or two, to a paragraph, on what it is your attempting to try. #4 is a bolded summary sentence/statement of what you had attempted. ie. if you attempted to knock an opponent off of their feet, you would put [Attempted to knock so-and-so off of their feet] after your roleplay post.#5 is the dice roll. You will need to post: | CODE | [roll*]1d5[/*roll] without the asterisks though. |
DO NOT MESS WITH THE CODING! The code means that ONE dice (1d) was rolled and that their are 5 SIDES to the dice. A 5-sided dice is all we are working with.
Obviously, 1 is a miss, and 5 is a success. 3 means medium accuracy (so if you stabbed someone, you would inflict medium damage like a gash or something; fleeing means you would stumble and slow down or something). 4 is in between 3 and 5, and 2 is just barely succeeding. XD
If your opponent's next dice roll is a counter to yours (because you only get one), and their roll trumps yours, then your attack/flee failed, regardless of what you rolled.
WHEN YOU ARE DONE PvPing (ie, someone won), you would type [Exiting PvP scenerio] at the beginning of the next post after the winning roll. So whomever is next would post that, and the roleplaying would continue.
EXAMPLE TIME!
Assassin1 is being chased by Guard1. Assassin1 attempts to flee by jumping into a haystack out of sight. They roll a 3. Guard1's writer (ie. me) knows that Assassin1's writer (ie. you) rolled a 3. That means that Guard1 probably didn't see Assassin1 jump into the haystack, but he knows where they were headed. Guard1 attempts to locate Assassin1 (probably by poking around in the haystack). They roll a 4. Guard1's roll trumphs Assassin1's roll, therefore, Guard1 is successful at finding Assassin1 regardless of the roll's numbers. If Guard1 had rolled a 2, he would of lost Assassin1, and Assassin1 would have succeeding in disappearing. However, if in Asssasin1's next post, he exits the hay in the presence of the guard, PvP mode would continue.
Get itttt? Rolling the dice ensures that people cannot godmod. Plus, it's fun to see what you get. XD
IN REGARDS TO EDITING...
DO NOT EDIT ANY POSTS INVOLVING PVP!
If you left out the dice roll or some part of the PvP process listed above, repost your post with the correction, and tell a staff member to delete the one above. DO NOT EDIT THE ORIGINAL POST. So like, you can't edit out what you made a mistake on and put "delete please" or something. We need to make sure you aren't reposting just because you didn't like your first roll.
ANY POSTS EDITED NOT BY A STAFF MEMBER DURING PVP MODE WILL BE DISREGARDED!
