NOTHING IS TRUE

ABSTERGO INDUSTRIES, ITALY
Abstergo's latest development has enabled them to be able to link multiple subjects together in order to train subjects faster. Known as the Animus Network, subjects are able to meet in their virtual memory world. When their programmer mysteriously disappears, and a virus is injected into Abstergo's Animus network by an off-the-grid third faction, strange things begin to happen. The virus is causing the machines to malfunction, the malfunction causing subjects to become stuck inside the machines, unable to awake on their own or be resuscitated by outside help. Abstergo's technicians are afraid that to force them might cause permanent damage to their brains, or even result in death. Abstergo is in a rush to find the origin of this outbreak as one by one, the Animi are beginning to break down.
PRESENT-DAY MONTERIGGIONI, ITALY
But the Templars aren't the only ones in trouble. In present-day Monteriggioni, the Assassins are still hiding from Abstergo's far seeing eye. Having stolen a shipment of these new Animi from Abstergo with the help of an inside source, they plan to use it to recruit their own force and train them using the Animus Network. Unknown to them, the Animi they had stolen have been infected with the virus. When Desmond volunteers to lead their first batch of recruits into his memories, he becomes comatose and is unable to be revived from the Animus, along with the other new recruits. Unable to pull their team out of the Animi without losing them, the Assassins pull together their brightest experts to try and find the cure before the Templars do. Because while the Templars are busy fixing their own problems, their focus has shifted from locating the Assassins. However, with Abstergo having more man power, the small group of Assassins are running on borrowed time...
WITHIN THE ANIMUS
Once trapped inside the Animus, subjects are reverted back to their own original form, unable to take the form of their chosen ancestor. Their skills are their own. Alone and out of place in the past, subjects are finding out quickly that their memories have begun to 'act up'. The virus has made the Animus 'aware', and the people of the 12th century and the Renaissance seem to be conscious of the fact that there are people running around in clothes that are foreign to them, in speech that is not their own, and if the subjects aren't careful, they may attract the wrong kind of attention.

A strange wall of blue and white code, similar to that which denotes the boundary of a memory has set itself up to the west of Rome. This wall has caused panic among the citizens of Rome, who have never seen something like this before. It rises up into the heavens and nobody has dared to go near it. However, those who do, disappear, never to return. People are calling it the end of the world. A similar wall has appeared on the land bordering 12th century Jerusalem. The citizens of the holiest city in the Holy Land are on edge. People in strange clothes have appeared from it, dressed in what is now known as Renaissance era clothing. Some people are calling them angels and have welcomed them, while others are calling them demons, and crucify the unfortunate ones.

The bridge between the conscious and unconscious has been crossed, and things that weren't supposed to happen, are happening.

History is beginning to rewrite itself. Which side do you fight for?
