THE CORNUCOPIA The �survivable� area of the arena is elevated somewhat, forming almost a triangle within the circle that is the entire arena. From this �survivable� surface, there is a 90 foot drop to the area beneath. This area is made up of sharp stones that would impale any tribute upon impact, thin rivers of lava run through the cracks between the stones. The only way to this area is the 90 foot drop, thus the �unsurvivable� aspect. The tributes will start the games at what is the point of the triangle. TOUCH The touch section of the arena is a long, confusing maze. The walls are tall, thick and made entirely of tough, sharp thorns, meaning that crossing over the walls or passing through them is entirely impossible. The walls are close together in most areas, meaning tributes would be better off going single file. Fighting here is difficult and painful unless you happen to find a more open section of the maze. Snow is common in this sector, and failing that there is either ice or puddles. The ground is almost always slippery. Accompanying these already unfavourable conditions is harsh winds. The maze is about as unwelcoming as it can get. Crashing against the walls at some point is almost unavoidable. Tributes should tread carefully here, really �Touch� is the last place you�d ever want to get lost. SMELL The smell area is a wetlands, and though there is plenty of water it doesn�t really look all that appealing to drink. The area is largely covered by swamp, shallow water broken up by damp, grassy patches. Overall the wetlands do not appear too frightening, it is the overhanging smell that will overpower tributes the moment they step into this section. It�s rotting flesh, strong, powerful, sickening and completely inescapable. More than just being unpleasant, the aroma seems to take its toll on tributes the longer they stay in the section. The more of the polluted air they breathe in the worse off they�ll become. It causes violent nausea, prevents wounds from healing and triggers rapid weight loss. The swamp may prove to be a valuable source of edible plants. It is, compared to some of the other sections, certainly fertile, but the smell is more than just a smell and if tributes linger too long then perhaps the stench of death won�t need to be artificial. SIGHT Sight is a forest made up of tall, straight trees. The angular branches are free of any leaves and each tree looks dead. Tributes will see little of the forest as the entire section is dark at all times. There is no concept of night at day in this section, meaning it�s incredibly difficult to keep track of time. In case this was not confusing enough itself the section is filled with illusions. The river that runs throughout the section appears to be full of water, but as a tribute approaches and tries to drink they�ll find the riverbed entirely dry. Their hands will slip through the illusion, scooping up only the dirt that lies beneath. This type of trickery is everywhere. Fruit that appears fresh will be rotting on the inside, animals that appear harmless are just nasty muttations in disguise. Even if you do manage to see something in the dark of this section, there is no guarantee that it�ll be what it looks like. TASTE The taste section of the arena is a green woodlands that appears to be thriving. Fresh fruit dangles from the branches of large, beautiful trees. Water tumbles down a waterfall, clear and blue and sparkling in the bright sunlight. It looked like a dream, the kind of woods you�d find in a fairytale. A tribute would wander into this section thinking it was too good to be true and well, they�d be very right. The plentiful food will not poison them, but it will burn the inside of their mouths severely, making eating it or anything else the tribute may happen to have with them virtually impossible. Every edible thing within this section will only make eating torturous. Essentially �Taste� makes starvation look more appealing. SOUND The majority of this section is made up of flat stone. The sky is clear, a slight breeze moving through the arena at almost all times. The climate is comfortable, but the section certainly isn�t. Aside from the occasional crack in the rock or cave the section looks empty, nothing but a wide expanse of stones. There is only one water source, but a few cliffs break up the area. Shelter is provided in the caverns, but shelter does not provide security. A tribute can never feel safe in this section of the arena as, everywhere they go a high-pitched sound echoes through at a constant frequency, both deafening them and giving them a nasty headache. The sound makes it impossible to be fully aware of your surroundings, preventing you from hearing any sounds made by other tributes or muttations. The place is eerie enough in its emptiness, doubly so when you have no hopes of hearing anything that may sneak up on you.
