The grand ball room was set up like a court room for the hearings today. There were plenty of things that he would much rather be doing but here he was instead. He sighed and looked at the entrance. To his left in seats that formed rows were the members of his jury. All those that were close to him. Ones that wouldn't betray him, under his assumption, and those that upheld his laws. At the head of the room was his mock throne chair. To the right of the room, just opposite from where his jury sat were several seats for people of the court to sit should they want to watch the deliberations of the court room.
His heel of his boots clicked on the ground as he was brought into the room with two guards in front of him, one on either side of him, and then two following behind him. Just in case, he knew how emotions could play and he was sure that today was not going to be good for the kingdom where his brother Earl was in tact. He took his seat and he raised his hand. " Everyone take your seats. Today we are here to hear the trial for those in question of treason against the crown. Keep in mind that if any of you do not follow the law then you too are and can be held accountable for crimes against the crown."
He took his seat. Then with a hand he gestured. "Bring both of the prisoners forward, but be gentle with the lady. I believe as rumor has it, she is with child." The guards brought both of them forward into chairs in the center of the room.
"Lady Madeline Ashton. Stand if you are able. You have been brought here because of your crimes against the crown. First speak your piece, declare your guilty or innocence and we'll deliberate." He explained. This was the time for her to claim her innocence and to explain herself. If there were others to testify on her behalf, should Earl come forward or should her intended come forward, this would be the time before the jury voted.
