In another life, she was Solaria of the Golden Sun Kingdom. Born and raised in the opulence of her homeland, she knew little of hardship as a child. As she grew older, she proved herself a shrewd princess, with compassion and faith in humanity. Her mother was Metallia, some would say the most beautiful Queen the Sun had boasted in some time. Solaria was not particularly close to her mother, but she did admire the woman. She like others did not see that her mother was closely losing herself to madness, to desires of powers.
When Solaria was still young, her mother traveled to the Earth. Treaties were signed, and Solaria met the Terran royal family. She became enamored of the heir to the throne, Prince Endymion. When her mother suggested a union between Earth and Sun, Solaria was pleased to marry the young prince. They were married some time, and had a daughter together, before Solaria realized that Endymion had betrayed her.
In despair, Solaria fled to the Sun, only to realize that her mother had been changed. Metallia had sacrificed her human form to access the true potential of the Golden Crystal. Dismayed, Solaria attempted to reason with her mother, but was attacked. Forced to use her abilities as Sailor Sun to defend herself, Solaria managed to cast aside her mother's attack, but the Golden Crystal was damaged in the battle. The Crystal disappeared, as did Solaria's fuku. Both returned to Earth, fearing that the power of the Sun Kingdom had been destroyed by them. She would never again be able to access the powers of the solar senshi, but she did not realize that the abilities had passed on to her young daughter, even then.
Solaria had hoped to reconcile with Endymion, but she found that he had already gone to the Moon, to be with the princess he had betrayed her with. Solaria's daughter was missing. Her life had fallen apart. The Terran Court seemed thick with the madness that her mother was spreading, and even Solaria found herself caught up in the fervor. The Silver Empire had seduced the prince away from his people. The White Queen had held power too long, and too tightly. With strange and varied allies among them, the Terran and Solar forces rose against the Moon.
Solaria traveled with the rest of them to the Moon. She did not have the strength of the Golden Crystal with which to fight, but she attempted to parlay with the White Queen. Instead, she came face to face with the princess, the woman her husband had chosen over her. Enraged, she attacked the princess. Solaria was killed by the royal of Uranus in the attack.
She was reborn on Earth with a better string of luck. Though she was orphaned but days after her birth in St. Petersburg, she was adopted as an infant by Viktor and Asya Kuznetsov, who expected they could have no children. They lived in Philadelphia. They were proven wrong a few years later, when Asya gave birth to Arina's younger brother, Piotr. Raised in a very tradiontional Russian immigrant family, Arina naturally rebelled. Though she spoke Russian in the family home (her mother was not entirely fluent in English, and the family patriarch was touchy about the language), she spoke with little to no accent in English as well.
As a child, she did well in school, but as she aged, she turned away from traditional academic subjects and pursued a love of art, music, and graphic design. She was popular in high school, too, though she was known to be as flirty as she was flighty, and couldn't keep a relationship for more than a few weeks. She ran track, designed almost every set for every play the high school produced, and nearly ran herself ragged doing it.
College wasn't much different. She attended college for a degree in graphic design. She took art classes for fun, mostly sculpture and things like papermaking. She baked chocolate chip nutella cookies at midnight. She didn't do much studying, but she still graduated, and a semester early.
Now she retains close connections to her family, though she chooses to maintain her own loft apartment. She is especially close to her brother and their cousins. Many have remarked that she is what her mother could have been, had Asya ever dared embrace American culture. Arina doesn't know about that, but she's content to live her life as it comes.

I love to have fun. I love to create things. I love to taste new foods, and old favorites. I enjoy eating, but not cooking. But I do bake. I like to be a shoulder to cry on. I'm a bit of a shit talker. I love good gossip. I have a temper that rivals anyone in my family. I hardly ever remember that I'm adopted; I think my parents are the same way. I'm very family oriented, but very independent. I'm afraid to settle down with anyone. I don't believe in long term relationships. I love to fall in love. |
