These are some frequently asked questions about the game and how it works.
Do our characters ever wake up, or do we always have to RP in the Fade?
Yes, your characters wake up! If they didn't, they would waste away and die. The idea is simply that whenever they sleep, they are all experiencing very vivid nightmares and occasionally crossing paths with others in the Fade. Roleplay can take place either in the Fade or outside of it.
Do our characters always have to have nightmares?
They don't. They can have nice or silly dreams as well -- or none at all. The Fade Camp board is for instances in which they are aware while in the Fade, although not necessarily within a dream sequence of some sort.
Are there any other plots?
Somnium is meant to be a casual RP board where plot (the nightmares, in this case) is optional and character interaction and exploration is encouraged. Other events may happen, but that won't be the case without some open discussion. Any major plots among players should, of course, be run by the moderators first before they happen.
May our characters have more than one specialization?
Whether you play a canon or an original character, yes, they may. The limit is two, however, and any secondary specialization must make sense for the characters. The exception to this is that a mage cannot be a Spirit Healer and a Blood Mage; this is due to conflicting ideologies and RP balance.
What is the state of the Circle of Magi?
Most of the Circles under the Andrastian Chantry have dissolved due to rebellion. The Imperial Chantry's Circle of Magi (in Tevinter) is likely still intact, as it is very different from the rest of Thedas.
As per events set forth by Cullen's player with moderator permission, Cullen has set up an unofficial remnant of the Circle in a village on Lake Calenhad, presumably near the Spoiled Princess. Cullen has had a personal falling out with the Chantry, so his goal is to help mages against those that would harm them or be harmed by them, but they are not being held there. It's more a village for mages than anything else.
What is the state of the templars?
Some of them rebelled against the Chantry as well, but many more of them are living up to their duty of responding to the mage uprising. They have been unable to occupy and maintain the Circles, however, so most of their conflicts with mages take place wherever their hunts may take them.
What is known about the whereabouts of Hawke and her companions?
No one knows where they are unless they choose to reveal that in-character.
