mckenzie dayton lived far from a privileged life. he grew up the oldest of two, his younger sister being julia. their mother was a housewife that stayed home with them in their queens, new york home while their father worked as a motorcycle mechanic. his father was extremely abusive to his wife and julia, locking mckenzie away in his bedroom while the abuse went on. mckenzie was taught to disrespect women and to treat them like second-class citizens. however, he made his own choices and made sure to help his mother and sister in any way that he could when his father wasn't around. his father was heavily involved in the sex, drugs and rock 'n roll lifestyle, eventually being killed by his dealer for not paying for the heroin he stole. mckenzie then took on his father's debts, diving into the business where he eventually found his band mates by chance, taking the roll as lead guitarist for lion skin. he's a smart aleck, and acts like he doesn't give two fucks about anything but his music. and, as much as he hates to admit it, he's followed in his father's footsteps in some respects. he dabbles with things like heroin and pain killers but mostly smokes a lot of ganja and smokes a shit ton of cigarettes. he deals drugs and sends most of his earnings back home to help his mother, sister, and newborn niece. he knows he has a problem, but has yet to face the skeletons in his closet.

this is ivy ashton. she was born into a large family of six. being the oldest above her five other siblings, ivy had always had a motherly side but it wasn't until she was sixteen that those instincts really became facts of life. her mother and father had gotten into a car accident, which proved to be fatal for her father. her mother, though a survivor, sunk into a deep depression that caused her to neglect her children severely. to help support her family, ivy took on two jobs and even dropped out of college to work full time. after years of being head of the household, she was urged by her brother chance to pursue her dream job as a reporter. after being offered the life-changing job as a reporter to alternative press magazine, she packed her things and hit the road. she still checks in on her siblings often, but has recently received word that her mother is ill, and she isn't sure how she's going to pay the hospital bill to get her the help she needs.

abel lyon's birth mother didn't want him. at least, that's what he told himself. after living in a group home for most of his childhood, he had gotten used to the feeling of not being good enough. being labeled as a troubled youth made it even more of a struggle to find him adoptive parents, but fortunately as his teenage years hit he found ellen crane. applying as a single parent made the adoption process long and grueling, but it was completely worth it in the end when abel was finally adopted. his mother encouraged him to pursue something he really cared about, and bought him his first guitar for christmas that year. after finding him a teacher and giving him the inspiration to reach his goals, ellen took the chance of sending her son out with his garage band to a recording company for a possible signing. luckily the boys were able to scrounge up a record deal, touring around the country with fairly large names for their time. this all occurred while abel turned eighteen and nineteen, but by the time his twentieth birthday swung around, things took a turn for the worst. as his band finally developed recognition in the alternative rock community, his mother passed away after a short but painful struggle with brain cancer. the frontman couldn't deal with the grief of losing his main support system, so he quit his band and basically dropped off the face of the earth, turning to alcohol as a release while he lived out of his car on the streets. however, after stumbling upon a group of lost boys playing in a band together at some obscure but local festival, he developed a fire inside of him that drove him to manage them, booking them gigs by using connections he had built when he was the frontman of a band of a similar genre. as of now he has taken on many titles, from "boss" to "old man" to "manager," and he wouldn't trade it for the world. he treats his boys like family and wouldn't have it any other way.

it wasn't that he had a bad childhood. in fact, he grew up with a relatively normal family in a relatively normal city. his parents were loving, and treated him well. the only thing that threw ezra king for a loop was his older brother. the two were close in age, but it was obvious who the family favorite was. his brother was charming, hilarious, good-looking. and ezra was just...awkward. painfully awkward. he remembered going through high school as the class wallflower. his brother, however, ruled the school with an iron fist. he was everything ezra wasn't, and supplied everything ezra lacked. ezra was the underdog, carefully walking through life as if there were eggshells under his feet. it wasn't until he was fifteen that his father introduced him to his first drum set, paying for private lessons that gave his anxiety-ridden son something to express himself with. his brother took up guitar and of course stole the spotlight by exposing his clean vocals, and after a few years the brothers built up a rock 'n roll band that made it big. however, there's always a twist to these stories. ezra had been roped into smoking at the age of sixteen, and with smoking comes lighters, and with lighters comes fire. fire became his obsession. it became his ultimate release. he continues to keep this secret under wraps, and would never admit that he had been responsible for a few wawa's going up in flames as they passed them on the bus ride to their next concert venue. along with this secret comes another; filled up with resentment towards his brother and the band that he controlled, ezra started up a side project under the stage name "xander fly". in this project he writes and plays everything himself, and also sings. he has managed to keep everything a secret for now, hoping that he soon will be able to swoon the girl of his dreams with the pretty things he sings about her.
