PLOT
the fear of mutants has reached breaking point. there are only two sides to this war, your either a mutant or human. anyone seen supporting either side is fair game -- you live or you die. it all started with the sapien league, protesting and marching for rights. when hank mccoy was savagely beaten to death during a march for purity in washington d.c. the mutants were angered but did not retaliate, fearing the repercussions for taking vengeance upon humans. it wasn't until albany, new york, went up in a fiery explosion in the shape of the phoenix did the sapien league gain support as well as ascend into power, as government officials.
with help from a top secret organization tasked with monitoring super-powered beings known as shield, the sapien league successfully gained the loyalty of frost international and worthington industries. together, under the reluctant permission of emma frost and warren worthington, they constructed monstrous machines known as sentinels and exonims. now that the x-gene has been outlawed, its free reign as mutants are hunted down and killed if not imprisoned in the infamous alcatraz.
with this brutality of their elected government, magneto has constructed fortress x from various new york skyscrapers as a safe haven for mutants. thousands flock to be among their counterparts as they brace through this war together. they fight daily for their lives as unimaginable forces try to penetrate the safety of the metal walls that provide them a home.
the question is, who will you fight for? will you support the mutants in their cause for rebellion against the totalarian government, or will you side with shield and sapien & co. who have twisted mutants to form the avengers -- to hunt down high level threats.
SETTING
shattered heroes is set in modern day, 2012. this meaning that whatever month it is where you are, whatever day it is you are -- it is in character. as the main location of this war is in the northern hemisphere, we will also be following their seasons as well.
the marvel universe as we know it has been ripped apart. age of x draws new lines in the sand; mutants and humans. magneto is the leader of the mutant rebellion (also known as the mutant liberation front) and has constructed from the chrysler building, fortress x -- a metal safe haven for any mutants willing to fight for the just cause. whilst on the other hand, we have shield and sapien & co. twisting the arms of emma frost and warren worthington to support them and their cause in the construction of sentinels and exonims.
with the growing threat of the mutant resistance, shield has captured a rag-tag group of mutants and infected their impulses with manipulation. this rag-tag group known to be the avengers, hunt down fellow mutants and either exterminate them or lock them away in alcatraz.
