SEISEUX CURRENT EVENTS
The sorting ceremony as well as our first two months of the semester have passed! In a bit of past roleplay, we have the renaissance festival and student/staff mixer going on. Currently, the school is on lock down. No students or staff can get in or out.
NATIONAL CURRENT EVENTS
The Senate has been attacked by dark wizards. Masses have been murdered and the entire building destroyed. Seiseux and Salem are in lock down mode - no one can go in or out. The entire country is holding it's breath in fear of what is to come. Is there a dim light in the ever growing darkness or has the nation lost all its hope?

Magical Senate
The Magical Senate is the ruling body of the North American wizarding population. Much like the Ministries of the European populations, the Magical Senate is modeled off the muggle form of government in the region to an extent. The President of Magic acts as the leader for the American wizarding system. The President of Magic, along with the Magical Senate, works to enable the wizarding world to run smoothly without Muggles becoming aware of them. The Senate is made up of a body of witches and wizards who make the laws of the society and deal with many of the problems affecting the magical population of North America. There are many departments within the Senate which focus on different aspects of the Wizarding Population. The many departments are extremely similar to the British Ministry of Magic with a few exceptions.
List of Departments:
1. Executive Staff: This makes up the main ruling body for North America, holding both the legislative and executive branches when compared to the Muggle government. Here laws are created and debated over before potentially becoming law. They are responsible for the problems that impact the magical community as well as serving as a ruling body over the other departments. Here you will find the President of Magic, a man who is elected into his position, followed by the Senators who must follow the President but hold a great deal of influence. Individuals in the Presidential and Head of Senate positions are expected to work alongside the Muggle government.

2. Department of Magical Law Enforcement: This is the largest department under the Magical Senate. Being the combination of police and judicial facilities, this department places a large role in ensuring the safety of the American Magical Community. There are four main agencies: Judicial, Espionage, Corrections, and Law Enforcement. 3. Department of International Magical Cooperation: This Department focuses on interacting with the wizarding governments from around the world. The American seats for the International Confederation of Wizards (equivalent to the Muggle UN) comes from within this department. Along with the ICW, this department represents ambassadors from fellow nations and deals with international laws and treaties. Treaties and declarations of war, however, must go through both the Senate and President for it to be official.
4. Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures: As dictated by the International Confederation of Wizards, every government is responsible for all of the creatures within its territory. In order to decrease the chance of Muggles becoming aware, the Senate has placed a great importance on ensuring these magical creatures are under a form of control. There are many sub-divisions within this department, all of which have been modeled after the Ministry of Magic. These divisions include: the Beast division, Being division, and Spirit division as well as including the Goblin and Centaur advisory boards. Here there are also rules against abuse as well as the team that will make sure you know the consequences of creature abuse. Finally, the Pest Advisory Board is located under this department and is responsible for removing dangerous creatures from the homes of Wizards and Muggles alike.
5. Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes: This department is responsible for repairing accidental magical damage and covering up magical exposure. This can include reversing spells and modifying Muggle memories for the event. This department even has a full agency dedicated to creating excuses that Muggles would believe for the supernatural events occurring around them.
6. Department of Magical Games and Sports: This department is charged with the regulation of all sports related functions across North America. Its job focuses on the development and regulation of sports within the country. These include setting up tournaments and ensuring that the entertainment does not harm the viewers as well as the Muggle community. The most famous of sports under its control is Quadpod, the American adaptation of Quidditch. This department is also known for shutting down illegal and dangerous entertainment operations, such as the disbanding the National Mammoth Run whose annual games were responsible for the extinction of the endangered Mammoths.
- The National Mammoth Run was known for the dangerous techniques of cornering Mammoths in an attempt to then see who could out run them and survive. It also led to many injuries and the deaths of Mammoths, who had then become enraged and attacked the surrounding villages. In its final year, nearly all participants were killed while the surrounding audiences were either killed or sustained serious injuries. Some underground groups are attempting to bring back the NMR by substituting the extinct mammoths with other dangerous creatures.
7. Department of Magical Transportation: This department focuses on the transportation systems of the magical community. This includes the set-up and maintenance of the Floo Network, Broom regulation, the creation and maintenance of portkeys, and the Apparation test centers (equivalent to Muggle DMV).
8. Department of Mysteries: This department is, just as the name implies, a mystery. All the great mysteries of the world are being studied here. The Magical Senate places great importance in discovering the unknown before the other magical governments are able to. These include the concepts of love, death, time, thought, and space. All prophecies are stored here as well as devices that are not truly known. Much of this research is top secret and only few know truly what happens here. Instead, the public is left with rumors and conspiracy theories to work with. |
