SEISEUX CURRENT EVENTS
The sorting ceremony as well as our first two months of the semester have passed! In a bit of past roleplay, we have the renaissance festival and student/staff mixer going on. Currently, the school is on lock down. No students or staff can get in or out.
NATIONAL CURRENT EVENTS
The Senate has been attacked by dark wizards. Masses have been murdered and the entire building destroyed. Seiseux and Salem are in lock down mode - no one can go in or out. The entire country is holding it's breath in fear of what is to come. Is there a dim light in the ever growing darkness or has the nation lost all its hope?

History of Seiseux Salem’s witches institute was originally the only school for the magical community in the Americas. As more and more people, wizards and muggles alike began immigrating to the states Salem only continued to grow. The late 1600s, however, saw the beginnings of witch trials. While the now famous Salem Witch Trials did manage to correctly accuse a few witches, the majority of the victims were Muggles who truly had no idea of the wizarding community. For this reason many magical families made the choice to try their luck in the less populated southern portion of America.
Nearly a hundred years later and Salem Witches Institute was still the only Wizarding School in North America. This was to change when Seiseux Academy of Wizards and Witches was founded in 1796. Charles Watswick, Todd Worthington, Matthew Henderson, and Patrick Fadin were wizards who had spent a good deal of their time in the South before deciding it was time nigh time for another school to be built. Seiseux was to serve as another option for the North American magical community. The plantation’s wings were divided up to give each of the founders their own house to manage over in the belief that competition creates an environment for learning. Watswick founded Joyau, Worthington created Renard, Henderson founded Sagesse, and finally Fadin added Taureau. They continued to work with the school until their deaths, for the most part.
Seiseux has done its best to stay out of Muggle affairs, going so far as to teach their students not to get involved with the Muggle Civil War in an effort to keep magic a secret. Nowadays, Seiseux is one of three schools in North America and serves only the students who live below the Mason-Dixon Line. During the first wizarding war, Seiseux followed the same thinking that the vast majority of American wizards had: “The War isn’t affecting us so why should we get involved?” Thankfully the first war came to an end without too many problems. During the second Wizard War, the policy remained the same however it was harder for many wizards to sit back at that time. American wizards could volunteer to join the war while many European wizards immigrated into the states seeking safety, eventually followed by some death eaters who wanted to run from the consequences. Following the war, Seiseux accepted any student who lived in the south despite who their parents were.
The hurricanes have also played a large role in Seiseux. Hurricane Katrina directly affected the school. Like the Muggles, anyone around the Mississippi river line and much of Louisiana was evacuated which included Seiseux. After the hurricane hit, Seiseux was flooded and it took another month afterward before the students were allowed to return. Since then the school officials have kept a close watch on the weather and the students know to take the evacuations seriously.
