Avatar; Florence Welch
Ethinc; Japanese/Irish American
Eye Color; Black
Hair Color and Length; Fiery Red, a wild cut just past her shoulders in lenght
Height; 5'9
Build; Slender build with the edge of early muscles visible just under her flesh.
Markings; A zipper mark that goes all the way down her spine, and an actual tin zipper at the base of her neck that looks like a piercing at the top of a tattoo. (her adoptive mother installed a zipper on her skin when she was young to help her get in and out)
Clothing Style; She likes to dress causally and has no known 'style' or genre she dresses to impress. She is fond of ankle length dresses, but rarely wares them as she thinks they make her too clumsy.
True Form;
Kodama is a skinwalker, so few people have ever lived to tell just what her real form looks like. The few that have seen it say it looks like a direwolf had a child with a mystical demonic alligator. Her muzzle is very long and slender and teeth hang jaggedly outside of her lips even when her mouth is closed. Her ears are three times too long for her head shape, and look more like bat ears. Her fur, which is now a dark bloody red in color, curls and twists close to her skin, except on her hocks where it is unusually long. Behind her, she has a long and thick bodied tail that ends with a flexible tip that she likes to flick and crack like a whip to scare her prey.
Personality; A little bit of an airhead. She likes small, cute things like baby birds, kittens, and My Little Ponies. This is a huge contrast to her abrasive way of going about everything she does: she likes baby birds, but isn't past climbing a tree and ripping them out of a nest so she can hold them.
She finds it easy to get along with people, as she is very open and never hold anything back. If she wants to be friends she will say so right away: if she wants to punch your face in she'll give a second or two in warning before she starts swinging.
She is a drama teacher, so she tends to over react to everything. This can be quite annoying to anyone not used to her.
Frighteningly, she is amused by darker things: she could play with a puddle of blood for hours and be cheerful the whole time. (like a kid with a mud puddle)
Fears; The loss of her adoptive parents and her connection to her late mother. She also fears other skinwalkers, as she has never met one but has heard they are normally openly ferocious.
Quirks; She talks to animals. It isn't that she can understand them, she just likes talking to them.
Other; She thinks having a hardcore all out fist fight is the most relaxing thing in the world.
Occupation; Drama Teacher, aspires to be a professional singer.
Pet; A cat named Flutterfly and two wolfdogs (that belong to her parents) named Lock and Barrel. And a pair of goldfish that live in a massive 150 gallon fish tank at the head of her bed.
Parents; Biological mother deceased named Pandæmonium. Mother/Father pair adopted her, their names are Sam and Alex.
Siblings; none. Her adoptive parents can't have children.
Children; none
Birthplace; Cleveland, OH.
History;
Kodama's biological parents were both horrible skinwalkers and she loved them very much. Her mother had apparently gained a reputation for being cruel, openly killing humans and animals even after being told to stop her adventurous ways. After a string of horrendous murders in Cleveland Ohio, which caused a frightful out roar by humans about a serial killer in their midst, she was forced to relocate.
By unanimously decision, the pack there sent her back home to be under her father's care...in Japan. Her mother was named Pandæmonium but was called Panda Bear by her family. It was a nod to the fact that pandas are so lovely on the surface but were still fierce bears that could really cause some damage to a person.
It was in Japan that Panda met the man that would father her child. She reported that she did not remember his name, as she did not really care what it was because she wasn't going to marry him. She simply saw that he was a strong male of harsh caliber. She liked his red hair, she remembered, and his dark eyes that were a sign of his black Irish heritage.
Her father, however, was not pleased with his daughter's decision to become pregnant by some unknown Irish vagrant. He banished her from his home, casting her out from the place she had been sent to protect the rest of the world from her. Unleashed, she reverted to her darker side for weeks and spread a reign of terror and bloodshed across the island.
She was eventually captured by a team of sentinels. Even though she managed to kill two of them before they took her down, they didn't hold her beastliness against her. She was forced into what could only be called a skinwalker rehab to help her control her dark urges. It was a huge pain in the ass to her, and every moment she craved the darkness outside of her prison cell.
It was by chance that she met and made friends with two individuals in her group therapy class. Their names were Alex and Sam. They were gender-switching shifters, both willowy tall, with dark eyes and equally dark skin. They were both shape-shifters who had terrorized a small town in a northern provenience. They were small time cat burglars who only robbed while in one gender and lived as the other sex so no one could identify them. They had messed up when they had tired to go big time and rob a bank. A sentinel had been cashing a check that day and had easily overpowered them both.
As I said, they were very small town crooks. They embraced their therapy, and somehow their intense friendship and trust in a changed future reached into Panda's heart and made her rethink her choices.
As she progressed in her pregnancy, Panda turned to them more and more to help her through the emotional and physical challenges it presented to her. After they were all released from their jail sentences -- Panda's was significantly longer than theirs, but they visited her daily.
When Panda was seven months pregnant, her friends announced they were going to marry and had decided to move to America to start their new life together. Without questioning, or caring about her past relationship with the people in that country that had once banished her, she told them she would go with them to their new homeland.
The skinwalkers in the states must have heard the news too, because it wasn't long after they had settled in that they started to harass her. She wasn't physically able to defend herself at the time and often suffered by the hands of her people. They would not believe she had changed her ways. Sam, during one frightful battle, had tried to step in to a fight in her defense and lost his left eye to a battle enraged skinwalker. S/he would bear savage claw marked scars on his face from that day on.
Fearing for her friends, Panda allowed herself to revert to her animal. She was a skinwalker, just a wolf's whisker away from a living demon, and she unleashed the beast on all those that threatened her new friends. They attempted to reassure her that they were fine, but she could no longer hear their pleas. Instead she asked them to remain safe in their home and she would protect them.
It was not a wise move. After all, the skin walkers were not after her friends. They were after her, but she could not see it that way. So she prowled the yard and neighborhood of the place they had decided to call their home. The monstrous beast, thickened by late term pregnancy, would not pull any punches if someone tried to advanced on her friend's territory.
It was during one of her skirmishes that she lost her arm: at least, the skin to her arm. One of her fellow skinwalkers had found where she had hid that part of her skin and destroyed it. Missing a single piece of your human flesh meant she could no longer transfer back into her human disguise. Trapped, she slipped into the darkness of her mind. She even attacked the two humans she had been trying to protect.
To save themselves, their friend, and the unborn babe they had already come to care about the two gender switching shifters captured their skinwalker friend and chained her up in a room in their house. They did their best to keep her comfortable, but it was a battle. Not being able to fight back, Sam tried a political plea to the local skinwalkers and asked for them to stop their onslaught against one of their own, especially against one so helpless. They agreed to stop under one condition: after the child was born they wanted Panda turned over to their care.
Sam and Alex knew they would kill her. It wasn't even a veiled threat: the skinwalkers were very open about their goal. She had been banished and by returning had openly broken their law. Death was the punishment.
But they both knew that neither of them could handle the monstrous Pandæmonium. So they agreed to the terms: after she gave birth they would hand her over. But only if the skinwalkers spared the child.
The terms accepted; two months of torture later presented them with a new red headed lifeform that looked nothing like his mother but snarled and spit with just as much ferocity as any skinwalker. His skin was patchy, probably from being borne in the body of a walker that had spent the last month of his development in her monster form. Their problem was easily solved, however: Alex used skin from Panda's now useless skin and filled in the patches. It was a long shot --- a skinwalker cannot just put any skin on and have it work -- but since it was another skinwalker pelt the parts miraculously fused. (if you look close enough, you can make out the edges and discoloration that separates the child's lighter skin with her mother's darker tone)
They allowed Panda to nurse and greet her son. The mother responded instinctively towards her young, quieting her normal beastly nature and cleaned her babe. It was during these moments of beautiful motherly harmony that Sam stepped into the room behind them, lifted Panda's head suddenly, and slit her furry throat.
Surprisingly, Panda accepted her end as if she truly expected no less. She seemed almost pleased that she was killed by the hands of her dear friends and not torn apart by her old packmates. The black blood that flushed out of her neck, across the floor, and onto the shoes of her friends somehow avoided staining her child. Alex had lifted the child clear of the carnage and held her tightly off the ground. He would remain pure.
Sam took the body of Panda to her pack. They accepted the body and did not question the whereabouts of the child. Sam, shivering and covered in the blood of a friend, gathered his family that night and moved them all across the country to a little, newly born town called Somerset. They would shelter themselves from the dark but sitting right in the middle of it.
They named the child Pandæmonium in honor of her mother, and nicknamed her Kodama in honor of her mother's Japanese heritage. (Kodama is a type of demon)
..
It was about the age of three that they noticed their darling 'son' liked pinks and flowers and playing with dolls and wearing dresses more than he did the toy guns and soldiers they had bought him. They did not question this, as they themselves were rather apathetic towards gender and were happy to let him be himself. By the age of ten he had started dressing and identifying himself as female. All his friends he brought over were always girls, none of whom seemed to be able to tell he wasn't really a girl.
By then, both his parents had already started calling him 'she' instead of 'he.' He never went through a self questioning stage about his sexuality. He KNEW he was a female. It wasn't a question. It simply was. As long as you didn't see him without clothes on you would believe it too. He was, in every sense, a transgendered individual. He does not feel the need to have surgery to make him look like how he feels. (though she does secretly desire his adoptive parent's ability to switch their genders at will)
He....ahem....She is a very unconventional skinwalker. She has the dark, horrible desire to rip things apart just to see how much blood they hold. But it is countered by the airy and calm life her parents raised her with. They sip tea on their porch, listen to birds sing, and watch sit-coms in the evening just like an average middle class American family. They go to PTA meetings, take her to the zoo for fun, and celebrate birthday parties at the bowling alley. They host neighbor watch parties, and know the names of all her classmates.
Its so normal you'd almost want to puke.
You'd never guess that they'd sat up entire nights with a screaming baby that wouldn't stop tearing off its own skin because it was colicky. They had to learn how to remove bloody skin from a screaming toddler and teach that kid how to properly put it back on so that she didn't put her feet on backwards. They had both helped her hide her first kill, dragging the bits to bury in the woods while wearing their best Sunday clothes. And, when she was a teen, they had fitted her for a dog muzzle to stop her outrageous hormone driven cravens to kill, mate, and destroy.
It was so hard being the parent of a teenager that truly was a monster.
But they did it, and Kodama respects and loves them for it. To her, they are her parents. She knows of her mother, but she never knew her obviously, so she calls Sam and Alex her mom and dad.
Kodama recently graduated from college with a teaching degree in the Dramatic Arts and landed a job at a local high school teaching teenagers how to enjoy Shakespeare. She achieved these at the side of her best friend Kristopher, who she had known since middle school. Kris was a human and did not know about Kodama's darker side, but they remained friends despite this secret. Kris had gone to the same college and graduated with a literary arts degree.
Recently, her friend had even gotten engaged and was going to be married soon. Kodama was to be the maid of honor. But....during a recent conference Kris went missing. Gone without a single trace: not even Kodama's skinwalker senses could find her whereabouts.
The stress of her missing friend has caused Kodama to break into fits of rage without warning. If something isn't done soon and her friend found, alive or dead, Kodama fears she may loose control of her beast.
