So... after Whit and Reg's lovely note passing, I think it would be awesome of there was a way to set up a quidditch bracket for the cup/ways to decide who would win the games?

On sites where I've RP'ed Quidditch, we always determined winners via Rock, Paper, Scissors. Then, captains worked out the exact score between themselves.

I saw it done before on a couple sites where there were like ten sort of 'prompts' or what have you about what would happen during the game (i.e. Cassiopeia Ackerly is knocked off her broom by Regulus, James Potter takes a bludger to the head) and then yeah, flipping a coin or rock paper scissors determines who wins. Then people could either like rapidfire post throughout a game or, if there are too many people, then everyone just sort of posts one big huzzah about what happened during the game, what their character did, and what happened at the end.

I like the idea of having a quidditch cup. I have something tied into the "house points" that is a points system for quidditch, but it doesn't have to be used. I'm good with anything really.

I'm not really a big fan of rapid roleplay for quidditch. It just seems very messy for me and never really gets finished. At least, that is my experience with them. I do like the idea of the 'prompts' or one big playby play that could be created by a commentator or something.

As for the flipping of a coin/rock paper scissors... I think this is pretty nifty: Nifty coin flip.

I would love to see your tie in thingy, Cherri. Is it posted here somewhere and I am just too blind to find it?

Well Kelli, Emily, and I had decided not to fully post the whole thing because we wanted to have a poll first. Basically the poll is to see how many of our members are willing to commit to the idea of actually going in and "claiming" their house points! It's a lot of work on the admins and mods for us to be expected to go through and check on things to give out points. So we need to make sure before we put a house point system into action, that everyone is willing to actually claim all of their points to ensure fairness. The house point system REALLY promotes character involvement, and it would really give the teachers a better sense of purpose and include them a bit more. This here is the quidditch portion of the house points system, which at the end of the day would contribute to the House Cup.

Quidditch
    PENALTIES
During a quidditch match, if you commit any of the following
penalties, your house will lose five points, which is equivalent
to scoring a goal:
blatching ♦ - powerplaying will cost you ten points
    and a two-post ban

blurting ♦ - answering a 'bludger' question after a beater has
    already answered

bumphing ♦ - a beater on either team answering a 'quaffle'
    question

flacking ♦ - a keeper answering a 'quaffle' question for his
team (i.e. slytherin keeper answering a question meant for the slytherin
    chasers and the gryffindor keeper)

held ball ♦ - taking longer than twenty-four hours to post

snitchnipping ♦ - answering a 'snitch' question after the
    seeker has answered
    REWARDS
Special moves, goals, and other things
will be rewarded with five points.

wronski feint ♦ - awarded to the opposing house in a quidditch match if a player from the other team edits their post (i.e. ravenclaw will be given five points if a hufflepuff player is seen to edit their post)

goal ♦ - every time a chaser scores a goal, the house is awarded five points

'free throw' ♦ - answer a 'free throw' question right, and you'll
    get five points

forfeit ♦ - if the other team drops out of a match more than twenty-four hours before it is due to commence, your team will receive thirty points and win by default

catch the snitch - catch the snitch at the end of a quidditch game and you'll get 150 points added to your total quidditch score.

Now as you can see it talks about "answering questions". Now, I've never actually gotten the chance to USE the quidditch portion of this system because I've never had any members interested in actually rping out a game of quidditch. It fascinates me and makes me so happy that you all want to. But I guess the idea of the game of quidditch is meant to be either the admins or the "commentator" so to speak, asks questions ABOUT quidditch (or perhaps we could make it more like Harry Potter trivia or something?), and I guess the players each take turns answering questions or something? I love the idea of having an actual RP where the players can actually post out how their character handles the events and such. I think rapid fire get's messy too so I'm not a huge fan of it all together, but huge posts from each person making sort of an over view of the game or average posts back and forth like in an rpg order could work too. I just think maybe to make it FAIR and so there is no god-modding, it might be more effective if there was like a "game" made out of it. I think the Harry Potter trivia could really work, and we could iron out kinks and rules before we set it in motion?

The only problem I see with this is the obviousness of the fact that trivia only works if you don't have a source to look up the answer with. No one would ever get any of the questions wrong really... Like you can say 'don't cheat' but no one likes losing and rpers especially, I find, don't want their characters to have to lose out on something they want. So I can't really see how trivia would work but I like the idea. It's almost there I think! c:

Definitely a good point Delilah. So perhaps we could figure out a different sort of game to make this work? Unless someone has any other ideas?
