Hello lovely readers! Your favorite Hogwarts intelligencer here, with exciting news. Well, that's sort of obvious, I wouldn't really be writing about it if it weren't exciting. But that's beside the point, I thought we'd hop right in with a thing or two about the upcoming Halloween Ball.
Obviously, hormones are running rampant and so are all of the students clamoring for dates and costumes. There are a few things I've picked up in the past few weeks, so I thought I'd share that with you now.
Frank Longbottom and girlfriend Alice Logan will not be attending this year's ball. That would be fine and dandy if Alice hadn't promised Lily Evans that she would be there with Frank, in costume, and ready to go. Oops. Let's just say that situation is still working itself out. Here's to hoping Alice and Lily aren't too stirred by this, and that their friendship can withstand a few broken promises and a costume change.
Cassie Ackerly and Whitney Adderton are likely to show up together. That's cute I suppose, but I figured they'd both be able to scrounge up actual dates. Perhaps Whitney shouldn't attend at all. That's sure to be plenty of free time he could otherwise be spending on the Quidditch pitch, obsessively practicing. I'm watching you Whitney, and you at least get an 'A' for effort if nothing else. Gentleman, if that's the team you play for, well... He needs to get out more. And obviously, I'm not talking about Quidditch.
Our good old boys from Gryffindor are apparently all attending solo, and by that I mean that as a group of four young men, they intend to attend together. Really men? None of you had better offers? I hear that Lily Evans isn't busy James, are we slacking a bit?
Charlie Ives (it's alright, I didn't know who that was either) is attending with Jaymie Adderton. Equally as boring as her twin's selected date. Disappointed in this one as well.
Dear Professor Slughorn has had his own hand dabbling in this ball business. From what I can decipher, Hestia Jones had a bit of a moment last week and instead of getting punished, she got a date to the ball. I dunno about you, but if hexing classmates lands you a date with the mysterious, new kid... Well Maxwell Llewellyn might be spending a lot more time in the Hospital Wing than he wants to.
Others that have been a bit more laid back about the ball situation, but are certainly going include equally new, and equally lovely Druella Llewellyn, the aforementioned Maxwell's younger sister. Georgiana Avery pureblood-princess and noted "Ice Queen". And everyone else seems to be a bit too boring to drag themselves there. I personally am not currently in the hunt for a date, sorry dears. I'll be around. Enjoy yourselves.
Love, Rita
