breaks my heart to see you hangin' from your shelf
OOC: here's a thread just to introduce Kitawni into the pack. feel free to stumble into it! it's a continuation of this thread.
--------------------- --- -- - ----------------------------------------
Their descent from the peak was a slow process made achingly worse by the newcomer's injured hindpaw. Although she wasn't in such a poor condition to limp, she did carefully tread over top the jagged rock with that one foot lifted up, all the while cutting curses at the sorry thing. "I'm sorry, Genn'. It was a silly incident, really. I stepped on a nail, of all things." At that point, Kitawni wondered if Gennae would even know of 'nails', and other such human clutter. Hardly worth one's time, but having spent so much time in their two-legged presence, Kitawni had readily picked up a few word associations here and there. Besides that, however, the alien wolf was without much word for the majority of the trip. She was light-headed from hunger and disjointed from cold, and likely sickness.
So, they moved side-by-side across a land of stifled greenery and vast crags, at a pace she knew Gennae usually did not move, until at last the rocky barricade broke open and left upon the duo the beauty of the Arcane Shroud. The sound of ever trickling water followed them like shadows and stung the air with its liveliness. "Nothing has changed here," said she, her voice held tight with an undercurrent of awe. But ah, too thirsty was she, she could not ignore the river that teased not far from foot -- thus she ran, without a word, to the laughing waters to drink her fill.
Cold. Fresh. Awakening. She lifted her lapping tongue from the river's liquid skin and passed Gennae a sweet smile from afar before loping back to her side, quickly, as if she feared for her friend's disappearance. "Thank you for this."

It didn't matter how Kitawni looked, or how injured she was. Gennae would gladly solemny take responsibility for her friend if she had to. Such generosity was one many would frown upon, especially the shroud's fresh wolves who had only seen the ice queen's bad side. Her good side was only shown to the wolves who earned it, and the mystic shadow plains' previous alpha certainly had. It wasn't just for nothing that Gennae had sent out Kit' specifically to create the pack, after all, when the shroud's ranks were filling up. And it was an honour to the ivory female that now, her friend returned home to her first home, the shroud, instead of the plains she had led for so long. It meant the world to her.
When Kitawni mentioned the nail, Gennae dug her mind for a moment, but she knew what it was. There were plenty of those back at the senile dumping grounds too, after all. "I'm sure you'll recover soon." As they walked, Kitawni mentioned nothing'd changed. Gennae smiled. "Indeed." Beauty really was timeless. Xerxes dangled around her neck still, almost like a necklace, but anyone looking close could distinguish the scaley pattern on the snow corn snake's skin.
And so, even though Kitawni looked like a filthy omega, Gennae had taken her in and given her a topstar's rank. Nothing would compensate for the previous alpha's alpha-rank, of course, but the least she could do was take her in. "Do you want to rest?" she asked, casting a glance over Kitawni's tired, scrawny body. She didn't have a den yet, but if she wanted she was welcome to stay at Gennae's for a while. It was rather empty since of course her grown-up kids didn't live with her anymore, anyway.

ooc. I couldn't resist the chance to let Seneca try and play doctor ^^; I like you guys too! xD
ic. Seneca recognized immediately the scent that tickled her nose. It was a smell she was all too familiar with having spent most of her childhood with it. It once tainted every wolf in her pack. It once slowly sucked the life out of everyone she cared about. She had spent her entire life hating it and learning how to destroy it, and there it was again. It had followed her all the way from the south, trickling along in her footsteps, waiting to ruin her life again. And now it was here, in her new home, threatening the lives of the new wolves that she cared about, even though she didn't even know most of them yet. Sickness.
In all honesty, whoever it was that was sick didn't smell so sick that their life was desperately in danger. But in Seneca's mind, the mildest cold was the worst of enemies. And besides, why should anyone suffer when she could do something about it? The young female crept away from her den to get a better taste of the wind that swept the wolf's scent to her. She could somewhat guess what the problem was from the scent alone, but for once, Seneca was smart enough to know that she should offer help before just giving it. She had dealt with many sick wolves and most of them shied away from her in order to keep their pride in tact. It drove the young wolf crazy to think of how many suffered for their pride. But she shouldn't judge, and so she hushed her mind as she softly made her way down the rocky slopes and along the river.
As the young wolf came towards the pair, she immediately recognized Gennae and dropped her head very slightly in respect. Although a large part of her wanted to freak out and go through the usual awkward babbling narration inside of her mind, an even larger part was focused on the injured female at Gennae's side. Seneca smiled at them both as she approached.
"Hi, Gennae. It's good to see you again." Seneca's tail danced back and forth lightly as she spoke and nodded towards her stjórnandi. As her eyes fell on the other wolf, Seneca couldn't keep the concern on her face from glinting innocently out of hiding. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything--I apologize if I am." Inwardly, she reasoned the best way to approach the subject and decided to just hold her tongue about it for the time being. She peered inconspicuously at the female's injured paw. Her mind immediately set to work pinpointing the exact herb that would help to heal it and where nearby she had found it. Luckily, it was quite nearby. But, patience.
"I'm Seneca.

At the offer, Kitawni couldn't help but arch a brow, or at least her canine equivalent. The kindness, although well-prompted, was hardly expected. Was Gennae not even a little upset with her? As an alpha she'd failed and, worse, as a friend she'd let her down. Gratitude only mildly expressed what she felt. She wanted to tackle the stjórnandi and tickle her with licks and yips. What was stranger, a delighted Kitawni or a generous Gennae? It was definitely a day to mark in the calendar, wasn't it? Anyway, the conversation would come in due time... and perhaps an apology.
"Elsku vinur, you've read my mind." She looked to her snowstruck friend with meek smile and would've gently nosed her once more it wasn't for the scintillating coil of snake that hung from her neck like white gold. Instead, she bowed her head and was about to move on alongside her alpha when someone else arrived, quiet and inconspicuous. Judging by Seneca's approach, Kit gaged her to be one of the Shroud's newer members, or worse, one that had not arrived so quickly onto Gennae's good side. She, herself, didn't yet know her own ranking within the pack, and so carefully dipped her head in a casual way of greet. Mind you, she kept her eyes a'fire and her ears perked sharp. As many humans had learned, this she-wolf had a hard time with the word 'master'.
"Hi... I'm Kitawni." Her voice, although quiet, wasn't exactly inviting and nor were her eyes. However concealed her peek might've been, Kitawni had caught Seneca looking on at her injured footpaw. It didn't make matters any better that she was well aware of her own disheveled appearance. Seneca was probably wondering what in the name of Fjandi was Kitawni even doing there. She looked like vulture meat. Eugh.

The strangeness of their appearance and how the duo was feeling didn't even occur to the ice queen. As easy as it was for her to batter down on subordinates, once a packmember, always a packmember. And even though Kitawni had only been in the shroud for about a month before creating the shadow plains pack last time, she was still originally a shroudie. It didn't matter how she looked or how useless - and perhaps even a strain - she would be, because she'd recover from this all and Gennae knew for certain with her help, her friend would be the wolf she used to be once more.
Gennae was about to offer her own den as a sleeping place to Kitawni when a third wolf entered the scene. She recognized the wolf as Seneca, the botanist and a fairly new member of the pack. "Good day, Seneca." Her voice was notably gentler than at the borders, but then it always seemed to be. Some wolves thought that because she acted like a spoiled alpha there, she always was, but it wasn't like that. Within the pack, Gennae was only cold and harsh to those who deserved such treatment.

Seneca could sense Kitawni's discomfort and it made her uncomfortable as well. Though she didn't know the other female's rank, Seneca knew that Kitawni was more dominant than she. Although she looked rather sickly and underfed, it wasn't enough to cover the air the colorful-eyed female carried about her. What was more, the closeness she sensed between Kitawni and Gennae had a very strong and clear impact. Any wolf that had earned such a tender friendship of the white stjórnandi must be a worthy character indeed. And being such, Seneca elected that it was best to not beat around the bush and waste their time, regardless of how dangerous it was dancing with blunt words on your tongue.
"To be honest, I came because I scented your injuries, Kitawni. And if you'd like, I would like to offer my services to you, as an... herbologist, of sorts." Seneca glanced at Gennae, hoping she wasn't overstepping her rank, "I realize that you're strong enough to heal on your own, but I know of some herbs that would help speed the process along and make it less miserable on you, and I'd be more than happy to fetch them and help you."
Seneca looked from Kitawni to Gennae, wondering what reaction she would get. Gennae had been kind enough to not leap on her and run her off the lands, calling her a witch, but the other wolf had yet to show if that was her preferred way of dealing with Seneca. As her mind swept through her memories of the encounter on depravity peak, she remembered Gennae's annoyance and her words And I guess that service would be you and your plants? Well, yes, it would be. If they allowed it to be.
"I don't mean to be stepping out of line, if that's the case. I just offered my knowledge of medicines as a member of the pack when I came here, so I thought I'd offer it again where it might actually be of help." With that, Seneca closed her mouth and awaited her fate. She could only imagine how awkward the silence would be after Kitawni finished refusing Seneca's aid. The young female could picture the wolf politely refusing and herself responding by turning and running away, never to be seen in those lands again. That would be rather extreme of her, though. And such an ending was preferable to being attacked and killed, she supposed. But, if luck was on her side today, this wouldn't end in her embarassment or the two females trying to drown her for trying to practice voodoo on them.

breaks my heart to see you hangin' from your shelf
Although they glimmered hot with defense, her eyes relented to the palest shadows of interest. Seneca seemed to have Gennae's pass, and what's more, Kitawni knew much about medicine from having lived the majority of her life in captivity. It wasn't an entirely insane practice. But to elude to such openness was unthinkable! So thus, the wolf lightly snapped her pearly-whites at the other and retorted, "Of course I can heal on my own." Suddenly, as if his arrival was cued, Vorelyn descended upon the three in a thick of wingbeats and satin feathers. He promptly settled alongside Kitawni. Unlike Xerxes, the bird hardly ever made perch of his mistress. She was a miniature among wolves, and he a giant among falcons. Before she could even break her slight frown for him, he opened his great ashen beak to let a river of guttural notes pour forth. His words were an excusable slew of firecracker bird-noises. But the message was not lost on Kitawni.
"But I might consider your help, Seneca," she admitted without a tinge of gratitude. A glance over to Gennae was spared. It read like a book: 'Do you trust her?'. Regardless of what answer she might've received, she pursued the topic further likely at the pressure of her daemon, who was at the moment preening the rogues from his wings. "How long have you been in practice, and where did you learn?"
The questions might've seemed suspicious, even distrusting, but it was more inquisitiveness that drove the wolf's questions. Still, it helped to understand a doctor's background before admitting to her healing, no? That familiar lullaby ache hummed warmly from her backpaw. While it sang quietly, it also sang very consistently so much so that Kitawni came rest on her hinds. Upon doing so, Vore shuffled over and snatched a stray hair from her mane. However fierce his glass eyes seemed, his actions seemed to express a sort of motherliness, something along the lines of 'Do you ever brush your hair!?'... Ah, how nice it was to have a daemon.

The stjórnandi listened quietly to the things Seneca had to say. She hadn't yet gotten much time to form a real opinion about the she-wolf, but despite her harsh nature Gen' was all about giving chances - if she was in a good mood, that is. When Kit' looked in her direction, the valley's heir gave her friend half a nod to confirm it was alright. At the peak there'd been no problems to heal with her magical herbs, but now she could prove her worth. Gennae'd make sure to ask Kitawni how she felt the next day, for sure.
"Don't worry, you aren't," her voice spoke as she looked towards Seneca for a moment. It was a reply to what she'd last said, about stepping out of line. Being in a pack was all about teamwork and respect, and it seemed that the botanist had plenty of both of those.
As Kitawni asked the questions, the ivory queen waited to see Seneca's response, looking in her direction. It seemed that Kit' hadn't lost her touch of alphaship just yet, still good at pinpointing nasty but important questions. Thinking of this, a smirk played on the alpha female's features. She was curious what the answers would be.

Seneca smiled appreciatively at Gennae as she confirmed that Seneca was within her boundaries, but as Kitawni began to speak, the young wolf's eyes never left her. As the other female's harsh retort bit her ears, Seneca did not flinch. She was used to the reluctance of others to submit to her help. The familiarity of it all was somewhat a comfort to her, in a strange sort of way. It reminded her of her family as they fell sick one by one so long ago. Seneca forced her focus onto Kitawni's next words before the memories of death could enter her mind. I might consider your help, Seneca. Seneca's ears perked up upon hearing these words. She would be given her chance.. maybe.
The next question made Seneca's brows furrow with thought. How to answer that and somehow avoid the memories she fought so hard to forget. Was there really any way to do so? The past was a part of you, regardless of the pain it caused. The only problem was.. how to explain why it wasn't her fault. Hopefully, it wouldn't come to that, though.
"My whole life," Seneca responded, "In my old pack, they believed that the first impression you give is who you are meant to be your whole life. My brother was the first to get out of the womb, and so my parents knew he was meant to be the alpha. I was out second, and I nosed my brother's ears and crawled very close to him. They decided that meant I was to be a protector and caretaker. And so they raised me to do so, just as they raised him to lead. Ever since I can remember, I was taught how to care for others by my elders. They showed me much of medicinal herbs and plants. When my packmates fell sick, it was up to me to take care of them. After I left, I kept myself alive and have done a lot of studying on my own. It's incredible the things you can discover..."
Seneca fell quiet, her eyes dancing from Kitawni to Gennae. She remembered the irritation in the female's eyes when they had met at the borders and Seneca had lost herself to talking about plants. It was easy for the young wolf to get carried away, but she did her best to control it. She knew there weren't many who got as excited about grass as she did. She also fell quiet to scold herself in her mind. She hadn't wanted to delve so far into the details of her past. She thought about continuing, but decided against it. They could take from her story what they would.

The mocha wolf's reaction, standstill and unmoved, surprised Kitawni but also left her grinning a bloodhound's grin. To be able to weather teeth and bark were good characteristics in a fem. Already gaging folk, eh? She never lost her sense of alpha -ship. "I didn't need your life story," said she, more out of warning than out of malice. It wasn't as if Kitawni was a poor listener; she was, in fact, a great lover of stories and melted at creation tales. Simply she liked her explanations direct. Was that too much to ask for?
"Gennae, can we move on? We can walk and talk, no?" One forepaw extended and then the next -- toes splaying, back arching, shoulder blades clickin', she stretched her entire frame before springing back up with unexpected vigor. The anticipated rest was too exciting to forget. Vorelyn, flustered by her abrupt movement, shuffled awkwardly to the side and knocked himself against Seneca. Immediately disliking the unintended touch, he rose up into the air with a couple disgruntled clucks. Chortling lightly, the eldri passed her attention back onto the tagl. "And from where was your family pack? It makes no sense for me to trust a plant-picker if she only knows lookalikes."
The bleak horizon was given a grim glance. Her unsettling eyes seemed to be contemplating the weather, or something toward the distance. Then, without a warn, her body rippled with a shiver. Cued, her eyes returned back to the scene and regarded Seneca again, this time more wearily. This was the second time Kitawni had ever been 'sick' in her life. "Well, tell me."

Aww, poor Seneca, facing two angry grannies!
life is like a box of chocolates
Eldri - elder - seemed a rank suited perfectly for Kitawni, because old, wise ladies had a license to be pissed off, and well, being an elder was all about being old and wise. It would also make for an excuse to justify pronouncing a wolf who - at this point in time - to such a high-up rank. Not that she needed to do any justifying to anyone, of course. A good packwolf followed their leader's decisions blindly, whether they liked them or not.
Through the years, Gennae hadn't changed that much, other than understanding some better and misunderstanding other things more. She had grown to hate love, for example, at least if it had anything to do with herself. On the other hand, she still stuck to her own thoughts as 'the truth', some sort of dogmatic science existing in her head. Whoever dared oppose it had to be a plain idiot, or something like that.
The ice queen listened to the story, but it wasn't her place to comment on it. It seemed more convincing than anything she'd heard at the peak though. The stjórnandi turned to face Kit', and merely grinned as she gave a snappy reply. She was probably tired. "We can." After that answer and a short nod, the alpha started to walk in the direction of her den, up north to where the waterfall roared down into the valley. Her den was near the waterfall, in the one - if there was any specific 'one' best spot - most beautiful spot of the shroud's territories. All this time, Gennae held silent because this was something Kit' and Seneca had to figure out themselves. She'd merely observe and see what the consequences were.

Out of Character. Haha, it's too fun to torment her ^^;
In Character. As Kitawni snapped at her for telling her life's story, Seneca dipped her nose a bit apologetically. She had always been chatty and she always said too much. Even in situations where it wasn't even possible to say too much, the tan female found a way. She always knew it too. As she talked, she would tell herself when it was time to stop and why she should stop. She knew when she crossed the line from endearing to just irritating. Unfortunately, knowing it wasn't enough to prevent it. Even when she was in doctor mode, which was when she was thinking the most clearly and acting the most her age, her mouth was always willing and able to run rampant with her thoughts.
As the eldri suggested walking, Seneca's ears perked up in surprise. Particularly as the hawk daemon bumped into her. She backed out of the way awkwardly, trying to give the bird space. She was not used to daemons having spent much of her life alone and with a wolf who didn't have one, but the wolves in her pack always treated them with great privacy. You ignored them, for the most part, for their actions were liable to give away moods that their partners were trying to keep hidden. It was unpolite to look at them. As the daemon knocked against her, her heart let free and raced with panic. Would they attack now? It was the bird's fault! Seneca looked away and hushed her frantic mind. No need to get so upset. If they hadn't attacked her yet, they likely weren't going to. Well, not until later. As the bird flew up into the air, Seneca smiled briefly at Kitawni and then immediately pushed herself to forget that it ever happened. Luckily, the other female provided words to assist her in that.
"I'm from the south. Not so far south that it isn't cold anymore, but far enough south that you do get to feel some warmth for a while." She scolded herself for not remembering what her pack said the humans typically called it.. Carnadia? Canorda? Kwebik? Koobek? Whatever. "I came north after famine hit my pack and my mom went a little crazy when my brother starved to death and kidnapped me so I could be her own personal doctor. Unfortunately, she didn't listen to me when I told her how to keep herself alive and she died anyway, just like my brother didn't listen and just made himself sicker and then he died too. Neither seemed to notice that I was doing the things I suggested and I was living while they were dying."
Seneca vaguely wondered if that was too much information. Probably. After fighting for a little while to try and not bring up those memories, she found herself in a place where she gave up and offered the information like it was some strange encounter she had witnessed from afar. Seneca had also decided she had more important things to worry about. As the wolves walked, she kept a careful eye on the injured female. She noted the wolf's shiver and documented that in her mind with the other little details she was picking up about her condition. She should have felt awkward about paying so close attention to a near stranger, but the longer she spent with the wolves, the more nervousness and uncertainty seemed pointless. As she thought before, they hadn't killed her yet. Besides, she knew she could outrun atleast one of them. The bird was pretty big though...
"And like I said, I've been studying a lot on my own. I test them on myself. I'm a little clumsy and hurt myself from time to time.. a lot of time to times, actually. But, nothing's killed me yet." Seneca smiled, her tail wagging a bit. She nodded out towards the land as they walked, "I've already seen four herbs that I've worked with recently that would help. Not as well as the other things I have in mind, but still good. I may have seen five actually. Some of the weeds I just saw by the water there looked interesting and judging by their scent, they could be of use. I'd have to study them more. I guess you could say I have natural instincts when it comes to them. I'm actually better with them than I am with other wolves."
STOP. Seneca laughed lightly and smiled and then immediately looked away from the two females. She had almost rambled about plants again. Playing doctor was dangerous. Not in that she could accidently feed someone poisonous things and they would die. Just that her stupid mouth and her stupid brain and their stupid stupidness. And what was with the whole I'm better with plants than wolves? Who says that to other wolves? Seneca looked back at Kitawni and Gennae and offered another smile. Though it was probably strange for someone to say that to them, could they really deny the truth in it? Seneca thought not. She thought vaguely about saying something reassuring, to let them know she really was good. I've never been wrong.. fatally wrong, atleast. Nope. No one's died yet. Nope. The worst that's happened was I got really really dizzy, vomited, and passed out. Hell nope. I would never let you eat that one though. That would not help the cause.
Silence. Speak when spoken to. That was the key. Hopefully.

breaks my heart to see you hangin' from your shelf
OOC: Stevie-poo, do you mind upping your font size just a tad? it's teensy tiny for me and i don't have the eyes like them youngins' do anymore ): sorry about this post, folks... apparently i'm still sick. sicker than before too x:
--------------------- --- -- - ----------------------------------------
Vorelyn rose up further to become a cut of ivory in an otherwise grey and humourless sky. At such great heights he could see the very peaks that embraced the land and gave the territory its name, its rocky face stippled by dens and broken by a crescendo of water that Kitawni had praised not long ago. Had the clouds sought out different places to hide then the scene might've been gorgeous, bathed in sun and heat. But alas, the weather was a choking reminder of cooler days to come. Below him a wolf shivered but for a second time, sensing the same sort of frigid despair. 'Snow' was being whispered within the prevailing winds and their sisterly clouds, snow, rain and hail. The thought was enough to make Kitawni sick.
Save for that she had little space to her own thoughts. Right now her sharp prism ears were being saturated by a voice not her own. With a story that was not much to her liking. By a wolf that was still learning her ways... a prime teaching moment, was it? Leaning sideways, Kitawni promptly opened her jaws where within many tiny heralding teeth sat and gave the girl a nip to the neck, sharp and precise. It, of course, was no sort of viciousness that would spring blood to Seneca's lustrous coat but it stung enough to voice the eldri's displeasure. The sick did not want to hear about the dying. "I'm sorry about your loved ones, Seneca. But perhaps we can hear about them another time. Y'understand?" Irritation had yet to pervade her mostly serene expression. It was best kept that way.
And so, they strode on at Gennae's lead, the she-wolf careful to note every proud tree and boulder so that once again the landscape could feel like home again. The tagl's voice had not ceased during this time... a chattering mouthful of youth. Still, it was information that was of Kitawni's interest and even if it was brought forth in a stream of babbles, she'd attend. 'Better with them than wolves?' It was enough to bring her to snicker. Wolves were a social elite within the animal kingdom. There was little conversation in the ways of plant.
"Mhm..." Of course, a single-word reply for the multitude that Seneca had provided... the laughter hung by itself like it was playing a solo. The band was still and the audience was coughing. When it felt that enough silence had been left between their footfalls and the girl's laughter, Kitawni spoke once more. "And do any of those that you see in these parts help me? I am willing to accept your help, and be apart of your practise. But if you feed me anything, if must be something you're willing to feed yourself." Then, with a haughty grin, she ventured more deviously. "Or your alpha."

life is like a box of chocolates
As they walked, Seneca babbled on curiously. Gennae wasn't sure whether to be annoyed or patient with her, it was a game of doubts in her mind. Instead, the stjórnandi decided to be quiet and let everything happen and be. There was no need to fuss over things like chattery wolves after all, unless she had a headache. Which, fortunately for Seneca, the alpha didn't have that day.
Xerxes slipped across the floor, his tongue hissing every now and then. He was clearly more annoyed than his wolf; or however much or little the wolf showed of it, anyway.
When Kitawni spoke, the ivory queen's ears perked up. "Oh, so now I'm the guinea pig to test it on?" She chuckled, and for a mere second a grin curled up on her face.
The trio then reached the roaring waterfall and all its marvel. After making sure to slow her pace down a little while they passed, for sightseeing purposes and because she was proud of its marvel and beauty, Gennae turned right to her den, a small cave that was carved out of the hills surrounding the shroud. "You can rest at my den." As if it wasn't obvious that it was her den and not someone else's, Gennae stood by the entrance. She then looked in Seneca's direction again. "If there are any plants nearby that can help, go get them. If you want you can get some rest in the meanwhile, Kitawni. Or at least it's warm in there." If she was feeling sick, someplace warm would be nice, and they could still talk while Kit' was resting, after all.

Out of Character: Haha, it's ok. I never noticed because I never read it once I post it x] For my next turn, I'll describe her finding things and I'll bring her back. My mind isn't quite working with me enough to do it all in one xX; I think it makes more sense ic'ly too.
In Character: She couldn't quite say it was unexpected when Kitawni "laid down the law", but she hadn't really seen it coming either. It was best to just say that she knew she deserved it as she jumped away to the side and bowed her head low. She thought of uttering an apology, but she knew it was best to just keep her mouth shut and not give it the chance to run free. The tan female was intelligent, but rather lacking when it came to sense. But she was still quite young and she was good at remembering each lesson she was taught. She wouldn't soon be forgetting the eldri's.
As Kitawni's devious gaze drifted to Gennae, Seneca perked back up. For a moment, her nerves began to falter again, mostly because of the tone the female had used in revealing her plot. As her mind sent sense flooding through her, drowning that pesky paranoia, a small smile trickled across her lips. While she likely should've been terrified, the young botanist trusted her instincts and her plants more than she trusted her mouth. Besides, in Seneca's eyes, she felt the two of them were on somewhat of an equal level. Gennae of course being obviously the alpha. But still, something about the eldri made her feel as though she was in the presence of two alphas instead of one.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't let a hulinn eat something I wouldn't eat myself. Some of the things I would eat, I wouldn't trust letting anyone else have." And.. silence! Seneca shut her mouth and kept it shut. She felt a little proud of herself for it, actually.
As they came upon Gennae's den, Seneca put her mind on full alert. No more wandering. While Gennae told her to retrieve the plants, Seneca was already plotting her course. Fluffy caterpillar moss for the wounded foot. Minty pointy grass for the sickness with mini pine trees and a touch of sap from the big floppy tree by the river. And of course, good food. Whisker fish had beneficial oils in them. And they were quite tasty. And yes, Seneca made up her own names for everything.
"I'll be back as quickly as I'm able," Seneca gave a reassuring nod and then took off, leaping along the rocks back past the waterfall and out of sight of the den.
