WELCOME
TO THE JUNGLE

Our dragons aren't shiny. Our riders aren't always in touch with reality. Our alien menace isn't a mindless threat from the sky; it's crafty and predatory and it will hit you where it hurts. Welcome to Nightwatch Weyr. Try not to die.

THE FUCK IS GOING ON

Mutant dragons! It's official. Not only does Nightwatch have an abnormally high rate of hatching whites, but it seems red and black dragons are here to stay as well. Is it the Blight? Or is it some genetic oddity originating from the clutching greens? More importantly, will it ultimately benefit the weyr, or harm it?

Unrest in Weyr and Hold! - Continued dissatisfaction with the Weyrleadership, rationing in effect, frustrated Holdfolk grumbling at the heavy tithes...

Wher rescue! After search parties sent into the jungle by Nightwatch were assaulted - and not all of them returned - Wingleader C'ross has coordinated a daring expedition to nearby Edinnu Island, in hopes of finding and rescuing the lost whers and their handlers.

CONDITIONS
SUNNY SKIES, SLIGHT CHANCE OF APOCALYPSE

Season: Autumn

Fall is perhaps the most pleasant season at Nightwatch. The southern end of the island is entering a dry season (or, well, drier) and the humidity is no longer intolerable all the time, nor is the heat so stifling. The northern end of the island boasts temperatures that are pleasantly cool and crisp without ever quite reaching "too chilly". Occasional windy days require alertness from riders, but for the most part, the weather is almost enough to make you forget the eldritch horrors.

Winter has fallen at Nightwatch, just in time for May in the real world! Since things have been a little quiet lately, we’re going to go ahead and wrap up this chapter of the wher plot with a summary, so we can give IC plottage a good kick in the pants and get things moving again.

IC OCCURRENCES:
  • WHER PLOT WRAPUP: The expedition to Edinnu was a success, and all whers were rescued. Some dragons and riders were injured (players, feel free to determine your own injuries as appropriate) in the skirmish with the bandits, but all kidnapped whers and handlers were recovered safely. The bandit leaders managed to escape by some secret back exit, and their current whereabouts are unknown, but one of the kidnappers was taken captive, to be dealt with as the Weyrleaders see fit.
  • In addition, the expedition riders discovered a secret Hold on Edinnu Island, Skylight Hold, as well as a cache of wher eggs stored in the tunnels. Apparently the bandits had been kidnapping whers to breed and sell their eggs at exorbitant prices to protect coastal holds.
  • Elements weyrlings are now nine months old. They have begun manned flights on a regular basis, and they will be joining wings in June. Wingleaders, take note.
  • Cryptids and insects weyrlings are now three months old. They cannot fly with riders yet, but the more precocious of the weyrlings may begin short glides and unmanned flights - nothing too strenuous at first.
  • Some serious shit is going down in the Weyrbowl…
OOC OCCURRENCES:
  • The first chapter of the Edinnu plot has concluded, but the location will remain open. This is not the last that anyone has heard of Edinnu or the bandits.
  • There will be a Greenflight around mid-May, followed by a dragon clutch at the beginning of June – as well as our first IC wher hatching sometime this month! Stay tuned for more info on how that will work.
  • We’ve got something royally ominous in store…
