ABOUT US
Welcome to Mystic Ista
We are an alt-pern game whose concept is basically what if Pern was Pern, but with magic? We're set at the beginning of the 9th pass, in a world without Lessa or F'lar or any of them. Let's see how Pern Survives without them.
We Feature:

Goal Based Ascension: To do things like graduate weyrlinghood or become eligible for Impression, you set yourself a number of IC goals based on the difficulty of the task. Those IC goals are small roleplaying checkpoints, such as "meet 5 people", and when you complete the required number, you complete the overarching task- such as graduate weyrlinghood. It lets you go on your own pace, and encourages roleplay.

Member Run Clutches: Although there will be staff-run official clutches, there is also the mechanic built in for members to create their own clutches. This game is planned to run on the small-clutches-more-frequently-model, with the spaces between the staff clutches (2-4 times a year) filled by member clutches.

Magic and Mutations and More Being a non-canon game, we have a magic system in place, where you have one magical character per X number of non-magical characters, dependent on the sort of magic they use. We also have mutation colors, and the potential for more.

    No Limits on Number.
Of course, please be reasonable. Submit what you can handle, and TRY to keep people active. I understand that character focuses and muses will shift- that happens, we're human. :3 So long as you try, we'll be good.
      Under The Hood
    • The reasoning for this is that I trust my players, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. You know how much you can handle; not me.
If you do something like submit 8 characters at starting, or it looks like you're trying to circumvent the magic-users restrictions, we will perhaps pause the application process and ask you if you're sure you can handle things and perhaps have a discussion, but ultimately, if you say you can handle it and the characters do not break this game's canon, then you'll be accepted.
Magic Users are Restricted by proportion to non-magic using characters, per player.
Sounds complicated, I know. Basically, for every magic using character you create, you need to have X non-magic using characters. There will be a separate article for it, elsewhere.

Rare Traits such as Red-hair, Green eyes, Etc?
    Not Limited.
    • Under the hood
My thinking is that PC's are such a tiny percentage of NPC's seperate that should every character have red hair and green eyes, or blond hair and blue eyes, it still wouldn't be that unbalanced. :3 so. have fun!
    Major Rare Traits, like HAD/HAW/HAF
Only with specific approval from a big hat. Sorry, want to keep these rare.

    Joining with Pets/Firelizards
Acceptable. Any color through bronze may be created upon joining. That means, white, green, blue, black, brown, and bronze. Pets include canines, runners (not many for a rider please) and felines. Slightly rarer pets (as in, please don't join with 50 please) include wherries, raptors, rodents, other birds, goats, sheep, bovines, and other such things. IF you can provide a reason in the character's history as to why he'd know how to keep them, a character may have fish.

Joining with Unique pets, should any appear?
Unique pets are game-specific pets, introduced on this game. None may appear. However, just to cover our bases, if any do appear, they will be impression only unless you have specific keeper permission.

    Having 4+ firelizards per character
Yes, with specific keeper permission, per character. Just ask a keeper for permission, and if they think you can probably handle it, they will approve you. Keepers, when you approve them for this, please make a separate post on the character's profile that says "This character is approved for more then 4 firelizards"

    Creating Insta-riders
Also known as, joining with a rider.
Allowed. No queens may join without specific Big Hat permission. Limit of one bronze insta, please, unless you have specific keeper permission. Should any new colors appear, those would be impression only, unless you have specific keeper permission.

    Creating Insta-Whers
Also known as, joining with a handler.
Allowed. No queens may join without specific Big Hat permission. Limit of one bronze insta, please, unless you have specific keeper permission. Should any new colors appear, those would be impression only, unless you have specific keeper permission.

    Joining with Ranks.
It depends. For crafters, you can join with any rank within the craft except for THE mastercrafter. Journeymen and Masters should be older characters. You can earn these ranks IC too, with goals.
Characters who intend to become candidates should only be apprentices or, rarely, journeymen. For whers, they can be journeymen, or rarely, masters. They should be aged accordingly.
You may not join directly into ranks such as wingleader, AWLM, candidate master, or weyrlingmaster. Those you earn with goals, if they are open.
