Playable LocationsIsta Weyr!
TimeGame starts rright before 9th pass. :3
Alternate HistoryLessa was never born and never existed, and neither did any of the canons. Thus, the weyrs did not all go forward and time. However, there was still a long interval, and holds and halls all over pern think Thread is gone for good. Tithes have diminished incredibly, and weyrs are at about 1/4 fighting strength. Political issues abound. No one's gone to the southern continent. Aivas theoretically exists down there somewhere, but no one's found him yet.
Magic?Yeah, there's magic on pern. This game is basically a "what if pern was like pern is... only with magic." Magic has always been present, in a small percentage of the population. To find out how rare, basically take the magic character creation guideline costs and multiply them by a hundred. So, if one out of every 3 PC's is a novice body mage, that means 1/300 people in general in all of pern is a novice body mage. An adept soul mage (1 out of 11 PC's) means 1/1100 people is an adept soul mage.
If that didn't make sense to you, you might want to go ahead and read the magic guidelines.
I will say that magic has been gradually been getting more common as people have lived on pern, but so gradually that people don't really know the difference. When the colonists landed, the multiplication factor was more like x1000, instead of x100. It's decreased by an order of magnitude. So, examples: at the arrival, 1/3000 colonists would've been a body mage novice, and 1/11000 colonists would be an adept soul mage.
Sexuality and Gender ImpressionsDon't exist on this game, and never have. Impressions will be exclusively by personality.
Boys on Gold and Girls on Bronzes? Are possible, but rare.
IC, thusfar there has never been an coinsurance of a male rider on a gold
in accessible record. Likewise, there are only records of 5 female bronzeriders throughout history, and the last one was last pass.
New ColorsThese have slowly been emerging across the dragonkin species as time wears on. Whites first emerged as a sport color with slight [less than ruth] trouble hatching in the 3rd pass, growing gradually more common as time wore on. Blacks emerged in the 6th pass. Colors appear first in firelizards, then in dragons, and finally in whers, usually within 1-10 turns of one another.
OOC, there is a connection with the growing commonality of magic and the emergence of new colors. IC, people do not realize this, as it's such a gradual increase.
Tech LevelAt the moment, feudal.
Size ScaleMeters, baby.
plot hooks and suggestions, new queens, and new locationsThere are a lot of potentialities here, and I want this controlled by the players. Anyone can suggest plots, and to be implemented, they need to be approved by keepers.
If our IC queens get busy and aren't around, and a clutch of theirs is scheduled, big hats can and should import a queen from another nearby weyr, who will become a permanent staff npc.
I am not opposed to another weyr opening that is playable- either one that already exists or one that will exist via future plot. I only request that we have enough players and characters to support it, without creating burn-out for our RPers. Only a Big Hat can approve the creation of a new weyr.
Candidates with physical or mental handicapsIC: if it can be seen, it's not going to be searched. So. An obvious mental disconnect (which is harder to see then a physical one), or a minor physical issue might prevent someone from being searched. HOWEVER, here is where there is a line between OOC and IC.
OOC, that doesn't mean a candidate with such issues won't impress. The dragons look for personality. ONLY for personality. So. If there was someone suitable, who happened to be a bit mad or missing a foot, they would still bond to it.
