Welcome to Mystic Ista
We are an alt-pern game whose concept is basically what if Pern was Pern, but with magic? We're set at the beginning of the 9th pass, in a world without Lessa or F'lar or any of them. Let's see how Pern Survives without them.
We Feature:
Goal Based Ascension: To do things like graduate weyrlinghood or become eligible for Impression, you set yourself a number of IC goals based on the difficulty of the task. Those IC goals are small roleplaying checkpoints, such as "meet 5 people", and when you complete the required number, you complete the overarching task- such as graduate weyrlinghood. It lets you go on your own pace, and encourages roleplay.
Member Run Clutches: Although there will be staff-run official clutches, there is also the mechanic built in for members to create their own clutches. This game is planned to run on the small-clutches-more-frequently-model, with the spaces between the staff clutches (2-4 times a year) filled by member clutches.
Magic and Mutations and More Being a non-canon game, we have a magic system in place, where you have one magical character per X number of non-magical characters, dependent on the sort of magic they use. We also have mutation colors, and the potential for more.

Goals
Advancement Goals. This game is basically powered by a self-managed goal advancement system-- see the article in Must Read for more information.
You keep track of your own goals/advancement. :D Make yourself a thread in here to keep track of things.
II do ask that there be a separate section for completed goals and current goals. One post per player, please, with separate sections for each character. A template will be provided, you do not have to use if if you don't want.
Contains Slot Count Forum, which is basically the same thing, but for keeping track of your magical:nonmagical slot ratio.

The rim
The very rim of the caldera that forms Ista weyr. This is where dragons occasionally hang out, and, if any humans are brave/stupid enough to go up there unaccompanied, where tragic accidents sometimes occur.

Weyrbowl
The big open space in the middle of the weyr. Kind of a hub of activity, this place is usually busy.
It contains the feeding grounds, the lake, and the plateau.

The Beach!
Where the plateau's stone step ends starts Ista's most famous asset: the beach. The weyr opens right up to it, framing it perfectly. It's a warm, sandy slope directly into the waters of the bay.

Lower Caverns
The heart and soul of the weyr. The lower caverns are where everything happens.

Hatching Grounds
Where the magic happens. Ista's hatching grounds are full of black volcanic sands. They're actually shockingly spacious compared to the rest of the weyr itself, capable of housing two fully-grown golds and their clutches if it needed to. It's never needed to, but no one complains about the space. Here and there, the sand is littered with lighter shapes- the impossibly fine remnants of eggshells from centuries of hatchings past.

Wher Area
Very much like the rest of the lower caverns in layout, that's what this place was before it was lost to time and disuse. In the 7th pass, the whers were integrated into the weyrs themselves, and they excavated these areas and turned them into a mini-complex for whers.
Contains: wher dens, wherling barracks, empty passages, and the records room for all of Ista.

Weyrling Barracks
And the area of bowl in front of them. The weyrling barracks are to the front of the bowl, opposite the lake. They are two, long spacious rooms, the ends of which have a smaller bathing room attached. Each of the rooms is filled with cots and dragon couches: the dorms where the weyrlings live. Girls live in one area, boys in the other. To the center is the weyrlingmaster's office, and the area of weyrbowl in front of the weyrling barracks has been unofficially dubbed the training grounds.

Ista Hold
This may be expanded if there's interest.
Ista hold is the only one of Ista's protected holds that still tithes, and it tithes fully. This is why Ista isn't suffering quite so harshly as the other weyrs; it only protects two, and Ista hold is still loyal.
Ista hold is sprawling, tropical, and comfortable.

Nerat Hold
Nerat is no longer loyal. It's Ista's only protected hold on the main-land, and at the moment it wants nothing to do with protections. Things are tense, here, and if a dragonrider should visit, they aren't turned away-- but they certainly aren't welcome, either, and one might notice a hostile attitude from most of the holders.
