Welcome to the Tri Cities in Eastern Washington! We are a non-canon crossover site based on the Mercy Thompson and Anita Blake series'. You don't have to have read the books to call it home here.
In 2009, the world was shocked to learn that magic was in fact real. It lived among them in the form of the Fae, a race that many had never believed were real for centuries. Public outcry was loud and varied, and the Fae rulers elected that those of the Fae that had made themselves known to the humans should volunteer to live on Reservations, much like the Native Americans. However they were followed into the public eye by first Werewolves, then Vampires. The human race is reeling. there are still several species reluctant to come forth and they don't like the attention the others are drawing. Tempers are at a fever pitch. What side are you on?

I’m…um…just, three years
Misha had no more doubts anymore that she would get better, and the right kind of better, not the better she thought she could achieve before. But how long it would take and how hard it would be until she was a hundred percent…well that she had no idea, but had a feeling it wouldn’t be anytime soon. To think that blood, the one thing about being a Vampire that utterly repulsed her, would be the thing that would be her true saving grace. All she had to do was remember to drink it and often and she shouldn’t feel the need to attack anyone anymore…at least, she really, really hoped that was the case. Misha didn’t want to lose her humanity, not one inch if she could help it. She wanted to hold onto her old self as much as she could, but it seemed every day she had to give a little bit of herself away for the sake of getting better. It was scary, but she kept being told it’s what she had too do.

Such deep meaning in such an object…but it was something Misha could anchor onto and relate too. She did well with symbolism; she latched on and read into every little thing that could happen in her life, it was how she became a holy woman in the first place, she saw meaning in the little details of life. The dagger representing her was something she understood very well and made her want to keep the dagger safe above all costs. To lose it would now be like losing herself, so she knew she would protect it and even if it took a while, it would look brand new soon enough. Her eyes widened “Four hundred…” She gasped softly, shaking her head. It just amazed her how old Vampires could be, and wondered how old the oldest Vampire in the world was. “You…were a pilgrim?” Goodness gracious! That was…wow. Her brow furrowed as she thought of a question that she had never asked “How long can a Vampire live?”

She pursed her lips and drank from the cup to have a reason to pause before answering. Her age was…nothing to these Vampires she was meeting and everyone always looked at her like she was a puppy when she said how old she was and she was beginning to not like it as she saw it as not a good thing anymore. Would she live to be as old as Lenore? As Elizabethia and onward? Did she even want too? I’m…um…just, three years” She muttered finally, fidgeting somewhat.

I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal
Lenore couldn't help the soft chuckle that left her lips as Misha responded in such a surprised manner to the elder vampire's age. She gave a soft nod which was more of a natural response to the girl's question and reaction. "Yes, I was among the first settlers in the states. I was human when I came here, and was full of hope of what the new world could bring. It turns out, I got to see more of the changes then originally anticipated." She lifted the blade up against the dim candle light and after a small inspection, Lenore closed the blade carefully and placed the cloth and knife on the table next to her.

"As far as how old we can get, well that depends on one's sanity. For instance my sire was over 700 years old before he was killed. It can be hard for vampires to adjust to the rapid changes, so it is mainly about how well we take to new things, that will determine how long we last. There is also the hunter factor, but as long as you stay low key from here on out you shouldn't have to worry about them." She explained, and while she had heard that there was older vampires in other parts of the world, she just didn't know how old they were. Lenore just focused on the vampires around her as they were more important then those in other parts of the world.

"You are a young one, hrm I would have assumed younger but given I know little about you it doesn't surprise me I was a little off on the age. It may behoove you to start adjusting to the changes in time if you plan on living longer then a normal life span. New clothes would be a good place to start." Lenore explained, though she really wasn't sure if the girl wanted to live longer then one typically would. If she did, she was sure going about things the wrong way.

“I…like the way I dress…”
Misha looked ready to pee herself from excitement. History had always fascinated it, more the era of the 1700’s, but to know that Lenore was one of the first people to settle in America…”Dandelions and pink frosting!” She said in a hush shock, using her funny and random expressions like she did when she was utterly taken by surprise or totally engrossed. This woman was one of the first settlers! She knew the history of America first hand! It was amazing! She was doing everything she could to control her excitement, but she wasn’t doing a good job of it “What was it like? What was it like to be on the ships? To settle here? Was it difficult? What about the Native Americans? Were they as savage as movies perceive them? Did you experience the war of the north and south? Did you have slaves? Did you witness the Salem witch trials?” So, so, so many questions poured forth from her, she couldn’t contain them.

Her eyes widened “Seven hundred?! Heaven have mercy!” To be seven hundred years old! She couldn’t even imagine….goodness gracious! That was so old! “Seven hundred…” She whispered under her breath, shaking her head. She thought four hundred was so very, very old…but seven hundred? Did Vampires ever just truly die off without being killed? It was frightening but amazing at the same time. “I couldn’t imagine living that long…I can’t even imagine making it to fifty and still staying the same like this. To be so old…” She wondered if she would make it to be that old, but with her mental track record she told herself it probably wasn’t likely. But maybe if she had friends and good company around her shed be able to live that long without losing her mind. It just seemed so daunting.

She frowned and looked down at her clothes, fiddling with the cup in her hand. It wasn’t the first time she had been told she dressed far older than her age, in high school she had been endlessly made fun of. But she thought her clothes were simple and conservative and she never thought she needed to wear anything fancy to be happy with herself. So what if she liked long jeans skirts and large shirts up to her neck, was that so bad? “I…like the way I dress…” She muttered softly, suddenly though she felt self-conscious about what she was wearing like she always did when someone brought her clothes up.

I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal
Lenore raised a brow as Misha suddenly rambled off a bunch of questions about what life was like during that time period. It was nice to see the girl had a voice besides that shy meek one that she had been using most of the night. Putting her hand up, she motioned for Misha to stay there as Lenore pushed herself out of her chair. Once up she walked over to a small bookcase behind her chair and knelt down. She ran her fingers over the spines of the old books until she came across the one she was looking for. "Here it is." She commented to herself as she took hold of the spine and pulled the book out.

The book was still in good condition, seeing it's age. Lenore walked over to Misha and held out it out for her to take. "I think you would enjoy reading this." Lenore spoke up with a calm pause "It's my journal, from the days following being turned. There is about two years worth of history in there, but I am sure it will answer any questions you have." She explained, because she would rather the girl read about it then have to talk about it herself. While Lenore was a very private person, she didn't mind when people read her journals because, well it was just a book of thoughts and didn't require her to actually talk about it. Once Misha took the book, Lenore returned her to chair and sat down. "When you are done with that one, you can come back and I will give you another. Should keep your eager young mind busy for awhile, and may help you with adjusting to being a vampire as well." Lenore crossed one leg over the other as she spoke. In her younger days, Lenore had been less then ambitious about being a vampire and on several occasions had gone without eating because the thought of blood made her sick. Now, well now she could kill without so much as blinking.

You should bare in mind that there are three sides to every story, and sadly I can't promise that what you read in those journals will answer all your questions, nor will it all be the truth, it is simply my perspective." She explained because history well, it repeated itself more then people knew, and because of that the past was, well just that, and it was all about what one learned from their history that set up their future.

"As far as how you dress, it is not bad for having lived as a nun, but your a vampire now and as such you need to learn to blend in. As I said that is something that can be worked on another night, you have been through enough tonight." Lenore hadn't really expected the girl to be so squeamish around the blood earlier, so it was best not to push to much to fast.

" I am just honored to be able to read them, Ms. Foster"
Misha quickly shut her trap when Lenore put her hand up, thinking the woman was trying to subtly tell her she was annoying and needed to shush. She pursed her lips quickly and shifted on the couch when she got up “I’m…I’m sorry…I ramble…I didn’t mean to ramble I just…when I get excited or nervous or…well, really many different emotions I just keep talking and talking and I don’t realize I’m going it until someone says something, but I mean sometimes I catch myself but not always and I really don’t mean to do it but-“ She stopped when Lenore returned and handed her the book. Curious she gently took it and her eyes widened “Your journal?” If it was one thing she enjoyed was reading, and old books especially caught her interest. She ran her hands over the cover then carefully opened it to touch the pages, fascinated.

She let her eyes breeze over a few paragraphs with great interest before looking up to Lenore with a bright smile “Thank you…so much. I would, I mean…this is amazing. I will take great care of it, I promise” One thing was to read a book about history written by some scholar…another was to read a book written first hand by somehow who lived it, unedited by anyone else. Books were her passion, she read any and all books just to get knowledge from them. This was a treat, and she would guard the journal with her life and be eager to try and read all of them if she could. She wanted the books more for the history value then the Vampire knowledge but having two in one was beneficial to her she knew. “I am just honored to be able to read them, Ms. Foster. History enthralls me” She didn’t care if not all her questions were answered, just to read them period was mind blowing.

“But…I still like to think I am a nun. When one takes their vows, it is permanent. “ She took a few sips from her cup “I do not like modern clothing. It is…too revealing or tight for me” She was glad though that there didn’t seem to be any more surprises for the night. If she was going to be whisked off and given a makeover she probably would have had a panic attack. Her clothes were a comfort to her, something familiar and easy. She didn’t like the idea of changing that, it would just be another aspect of herself thrown out the window that she didn’t want to let go of.

Rambling was something that Lenore was use to, as a matter of fact she could sit still for hours at a time and listen to people ramble because her sire use to do it. It was something that she had gotten far use to over times, so much so that she didn't even acknowledge the fact that Misha had been rambling at all, she simply thought the journals would be more useful in answering any further questions that Misha would have. "Don't worry, I figured that the journal would just help answer any future questions, and also show you that your endeavors towards embracing a vampire life style is a common one among vampires." She explained because Lenore's journal was full of nights she didn't remember with the bitter sweet taste of copper in her mouth and upon her clothes.

Adjusting in her seat she brought her feet up and let her toes hook over the edge of the cushion as she watched Misha's reaction to the clothing. Giving a slight smile she could see that Misha was not the type to change easily and Lenore didn't blame her. "I'm not saying that we change everything completely, but we need to get you to blend in and not stand out. The more you stand out from the crowd, the more hunters become attracted to you." She explained, because that was the concern that Lenore had for the girl at least for now.

"Getting you into a pair of jeans and tshirts would be far better then what you are wearing. I'm not saying getting yourself anything trashy just something common." She added, because she would hate to see the woman get killed over something that could have easily been addressed and changed. Lenore's attire was rather simplistic at best. Typically tank tops and jeans, she had some tattoo related attire but that was typically worn when she was working to promote the business. No, if Lenore could help it she kept things plain she didn't see the need to spend tons of money on clothes when she wasn't looking to stand out.

"Im sorry...hunters?"
She was so very thankful for the extra help. She loved to read and always did best absorbing information through reading. Being able to read the journal and get some insights about possibly the same struggles she was going through was much appreciated to her. She needed to know she wasn’t the only person floundering like she was now. All the Vampires she had met were so much older than her, so set in their way of being a Vampire that it seemed like they had never suffered what she did and like she would never obtain the level of control they had. She knew her path to complete Vampirism was going to be hard, and the more resources she obtained and the more point of views she heard would only make things easier.

Oh no, Misha didn’t like change at all. She was probably more afraid of it than normal people because of her parent’s sudden death, she didn’t like things to change swiftly and that was one of the elements that made her struggle so harshly with being a Vampire, among other things. She had worn the same clothes all her life, never changed her hair, had kept her room the same at the convent and didn’t change her likes or dislikes often at all. She frowned “I don’t think I stand out that much…” She bought her clothes in stores, obviously other people had to buy them too and wear them or they wouldn’t be available right? Of course those other people were probably eighty year old grandma’s but, still. She made a face “I’m sorry…hunters?” She had not been told anything about hunters yet, she had no idea what Lenore was referring too.

“Oh! But I wear jeans on occassion” Not often no, and when she did they were like three sizes too big, but she still wore them. Before being a nun she had worn them to do gardening or to clean. “I’ve also worn t-shirts but, more to sleep in” The big baggy men t-shirts with sweatpants to be exact. But to wear jeans and shirts out to go around in public? Heaven’s no and certainly not form fitting, she liked things loose on her, which was which she preferred dresses.

Lenore Foster
I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal
Lenore brought her hands up to her face and rubbed at her temples as the other vampire questioned what hunters were. Jesus Christ had this women been kept in the dark by her maker? What the hell were they thinking just letting her go on like this without teaching her anything at all. It was bad enough for the girl to have feeding issues but to be completely oblivious to something so dangerous it was just... ohh she wanted to rip someone's throat out at this moment but had to behave.

"Wow, this is worse then I could have ever imagined." She spoke in a soft growl though it wasn't designated at anyone but herself at this moment. Bringing her head up she looked to Misha with a sigh, "Kid you have got a lot to learn." She pushed herself up and walked back over to the bookcase once again and knelt down and began running her fingers over the spines once again. "Hunters are out there to make the humans feel safe, they hunt us and other none humans. Most like to attack during the day when we are most vulnerable and could care less whether or not they break any laws. Other hunters stick according to laws but could change their ways at anytime." Lenore went on to explain as she tried to find the book she was looking for.

"Shit its not here." She spoke as she pushed herself up from the ground and turned to Misha and with a questionable look upon her face just trying to remember where she put it. Bringing her finger to her chin she took in a breath and tried to think of what could have happened to it. "Stay there." She spoke as she walked out of the room and headed up stairs into her spare room. She had some books there and it might be there, but she couldn't be to sure seeing as it was a room she rarely went into anymore.

Walking into the room she let go of her breath and walked over to the desk and started riffling through a few things until she found it. She picked it up and blew some dust off the cover before heading back down stairs. With the book in hand she walked over to Misha and held it out. "This was my maker's, it is his records on hunters, you can keep it." Lenore spoke calmly, it wasn't something that she could use anymore. She had the thing pretty well memorized.

"So people let them hunt? I don’t understand”
When Lenore obviously looked frustrated from Misha’s once again lack of knowledge she pursed her lips and shifted “I’m sorry” She whispered, for she was still unsure about Lenore’s temper or stability and really didn’t want to get her angry. She didn’t mean to not know anything…how much more did she really not know? Alexander had never spoken about hunters, though he had threatened her many times that she was going to get herself killed, but she had always assumed he met by the police or was just saying that to try and scare her to make her stop attacking people. “I’m sorry” She said again to her comment about it being worse then she imagined, the growl making her feel a little fearful.

She feel silent and avoided her gaze, feeling like she had done something wrong. She wanted to learn, now she did…she could only imagine how Lenore would have treated her before D’artagnan had fixed her. She stiffened when she got up but relaxed when she simply went over to the bookshelf. She took another sip of the blood from her cup, and luckily swallowed before Lenore started explaining hunters “They…what?” She gasped “There are people who…who try to kill non humans? Is that even allowed? That can’t be allowed” The non-humans had come out, they were citizens, were they not to be protected? She shook her head on confusion “Laws? So…so people let them hunt? I don’t understand” She was scared to learn this, very scared.

Her eyes widened a bit when she cursed but she nodded and stayed put when she left the room. She drank some more blood while she was gone, images of scary men in black trench coats running around and staking people played in her head. How horrible…it wouldn’t be like that, could it? She liked to go out and wander around at night…was she in danger? She turned to Lenore as she returned and was surprised just rather excited to see another book in her hand. She took it “Thank you” She said, setting the book on her lap on top of the other and opened it, gently going through the pages like she had the other “Hunters have been around for a long time then? But how? How did they even know about non-humans?” She couldn’t even tell the difference and she was one.

Lenore Foster
I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal
Lenore really wanted to find this girl's maker and beat him bloody senseless but she didn't know who that was so she would just settle for trying to make up lost time. Why she felt the need to do this she didn't know, but it was likely due to the fact that the only person who put up with her shit to any extent was D'artagnan and was slightly infatuated with Misha.

"Misha you have nothing to apologize for, none of this is your fault." She spoke honestly, because it really was not Michelle fault. Now it was just about getting the other vampire on a path that she could manage not to kill someone. With that in mind Lenore was already adjust a game plan to help Misha, and that may involve sitting down it Robyn.

"Killing non-humans is against the law, but that doesn't stop people from wanting to do it, because it is much like human's killing other humans." Lenore explained, because killing just seemed to be apart of human nature and many humans felt like they were at war with the none humans, and in war there was causalities.

"Yes, hunters have been around for awhile, but back then we were harder to hunt. We use to have lies that would prove that we weren't what they were looking for. My personal favorite was that vampires didn't have a reflection." She explained, most of the vampire allergies were designed by the vampire community to keep them safe. The hunters spawned from the Native Americans, or at least that was her understanding and that was only because she they had the ability to see ghosts.

"We may have been in the dark until 2009, but that doesn't mean people didn't know about us. People who talked about us and wrote stories of vampires had some knowledge about our existence but they were thought to have wild imaginations or simply be crazy." Lenore explained as she started to pace back and forth. How could a sire so carelessly let their creation go without giving them the knowledge they need to survive. Hell, not even Lenore was that selfish she had her maker to at least help when her abilities were limited.

"Read those and you will have a better understanding of things, and then if you have anymore questions you are welcome to ask." She added, because a lot of the questions that Misha would have would likely be answered in the book she gave her.

"How can they kill us?”
Shed fiddled with the cup “I feel like it’s my fault…” She had been the one to hide away from everyone, to starve herself, to refuse to accept anything…wasn’t it her fault? Sure felt like it. Everyone seemed to blame whoever made her like this but she didn’t, she wasn’t one to blame others for what she felt were her own mistakes. But this hunter business…this really frightened her. She thought it was appalling but Lenore made sense, humans killed humans so why not humans kill non humans? Killing…it was so useless, she didn’t understand it. “How appalling...” She knew that these humans killing non-humans had to be the same reasons humans killed humans half the time; because they were different and no one deserved to die because someone else claimed they were different.

She never believed in Vampires or any other creatures when she had been human. In high school when people had read books about them or saw movies with those creatures she had thought they were simply that, a scary story and nothing more. When they had come out when she was a nun it rocked everything she knew and how the Christian community had dealt with it was calling them humans possessed by demons. She supposed other humans just decided to accept them for what they were…and kill them. She closed the book and nodded “I will. And I’ll be careful with it” She promised again, just to make sure. Hunters…”How can they tell what we are? How can they kill us?” Us. It was so strange to use the term us, but it was the truth now.

I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal
Lenore would like to place the blame on the girl before her, but it was clearly not her fault that she was rather naive about the ways of a vampire. Just thinking about it made Lenore want to get the name of her sire and then take a small trip to find him and handle the issue first hand. At least if she died she could at least avenge something other then just her sire. "You need not feel that way, it is clear that this is your sire's fault. They should have made sure you were ready to face the world before dropping you in the middle of it." Lenore explained, she would have never done that to someone she made, at least she would have made sure that they had someone to teach them what she couldn't.

"Hunters are no laughing matter, and while they have evolved with time like we have, they have the same agenda. They are around as a sort of non-human population control and should never be underestimated." She explained because hunters were just as deadly and dangerous as any vampire or even wolf. They had the skills to track and hunt and that made them a threat to everyone even the humans. One tiny mistake could send a hunter down the wrong path, and back in the day Lenore had left a lot of tiny trails that led to the house of a human and not herself. It wasn't something she would do now, but it was important to be prepared.

"A lot of them use fire, because it is the one sure thing that will kill us. Decapitation is another way, but every hunter has their preferred way of doing things. Things tend to be more civilized now a days, but that doesn't stop that from being barbaric at times." She had not come across a hunter in some time, but she didn't want to sugar coat the hunter ways. It was better to be prepared for the worst then to make light of a potentially deadly situation.

hearing these things put fear straight across her face
Everyone blamed her sire for how she was and at times Misha would admit she felt frustration and anger towards the unknown man who changed her, but then other times she didn’t want to blame him for the way she was now. “I’m sure he had his reasons for leaving me alone…” All she could remember was a man injured on the side of the street, him attacking her, then nothing. He could have just killed her but he had changed her…only to leave her abandoned. She didn’t understand, but it seemed everyone wanted to punish him for what he did. All she wanted was answers, but she felt she would never get them.

“How can you tell who is a hunter and who is not? I mean…do they really have stakes?” All she knew of any type of vampire slayers was Buffy, she had heard about the show in middle school and that was about it. Werewolves, Fae, Vampires and now hunters? What else was out there for goodness sakes? She felt how ironic it would be for her to be turned into this only to be killed by a hunter, a person who believed things similar to what she once believed. But she could have never killed anyone for being different, try to help them, but kill them? Murder just escaped her of why anyone would ever do such a thing. It was no one’s right but God to take a life.

Fire…decapitation…hearing these things put fear straight across her face. How cruel and horrific! “Civilized?!” How could murder be civilized? What was civilized compared to burning someone alive or chopping off their head! “How does one get away from them? What do we do?” Now she would be paranoid everywhere she went, anyone that walked behind her too long or looked at her funny would now in her mind be a hunter.

Maybe Lenore had been spoiled when it came to having a sire that actually cared, but she didn't see any reason to leave a childe in the dark. It was cruel and simply asking for trouble in the future. If Lenore ever came across him, she would surely teach him a lesson, even if he was older then her. "There is no excuse, when one gives a human a new life as a vampire they are responsible. It's like having a child, and even if a parent is unfit they at least give them to someone who can take care of them. From what you have told me and what I have learned, he dumped you and made you fend for yourself." Lenore was angry but it didn't show in her voice, but god help the next soul that tried pissing her off.

"Honestly, there is no way to tell who is a hunter until they reveal themselves. Unlike wolves and fae, they don't have a smell about them. Generally they are human and they pay a little bit to much attention to you when in public. If you start seeing the same human in multiple places that you visit, then chances are they are tracking you." Lenore was honest, there was no reason to sugar coat things because lets face it, the girl had a lot to learn and most of it would be done the hard way. Ya, she probably could have given the stories that most sires did, about how the vampire was more powerful and catching them in the eyes could save a vampires life, but that wasn't always the case. Many hunters now used things such as guns, and while they wouldn't kill a vampire it could surely slow them down.

"No, they don't all carry stakes, some of them do, but most carry guns and bows. These may not kill us, but I can assure you that it hurts like a bitch. Our speed and strength is how we get away, and if you are skilled you and lured them in with your eyes and make them forget, but that takes time to learn. Something that we can work on later." Lenore would teach the girl everything that she could so that Michelle could defend herself should a hunter come along, but lets face it the girl couldn't drink blood, Lenore hardly thought the girl would even be capable of holding her own in a fight.
