Bi-Sexuals, are they just confused?

As a bisexual woman one of the most common reactions I get is 'your just confused, in a year down the line you'll be straight or come out as a lesbian'

If it is accepted that people can be attracted to the same sex, then why is it not accepted that people can be attracted to both sexes?
I agree that perhaps teens when first comming to terms with issues such as sexuality can be confused and perhaps are unsure what sexuality they are, however once you reach a certain age your pretty damn sure.

To use myself as an example when I first starting finding guys sexually attractive, the same went for me with girls. I thought it was just a phrase and I would grow out of it. However now that i'm an adult I know as a fact that I am indeed bisexual. Not confused, not straight, not a lesbian. (I hate labels, but thats a different debate)

So what are your views? Do you believe bisexuality is a sexuality, confusion or perhaps even a choice?

This is a tricky situation, because, as far as I'm aware, bisexuality does not come under any gender class, it's almost as dark as being gay was 50 years ago.

I believe that yes, bisexuality is a sexuality as the old mating ritual thing is the same for all "labels"(I hate labels too). It shouldn't be looked at in any other way.
Perhaps in a way it is a choice, but it's not a wake up in the morning decision. These things happen during puberty, as the body begins to recognise it's orientation. People often fight it, as they've been brought up see that the thought they are now having is wrong. It's more a physical choice, more than a mental one, as the brain will go with what it understands.

I think that bisexuals take more of the burden of being so-called "different" because of the way they are, and are scorned a lot more now, than gays or lesbians. But there has to be a better way of describing this particular orientation than "Bisexual"
