These aren't newspapers, but they've become required daily Greek reading for me. Both these sites are written in standard contemporary demotic with a little colloquial usage thrown in. All in all, good vocabulary builders, and very useful to develop a sense of how young, educated people actually write (and speak) nowadays.

1.) goDimitris

Check out Dimitris as he continues on his 5-year plan to travel the world (he's now in Central America) in search of fellow Greeks. His accumulated postings are in the "reports" section, while photos he's taken are in the "photogallery" section.

2.) The World Offroad

Akis and Voula are two young Greeks (ages 40 and 31, respectively) who are making a tour of Africa with a 4-wheel-drive. They post a daily report of their activities, experiences, and thoughts about what they've seen. The accumulated postings are found in the ΗΜΕΡΟΛΟΓΙΟ section.

- June 2008 update -

1.) Dimitris is reaching the end of Central America -- he is now in Panama. Will he continue into the northern part of South America? Check out his site to find out.

2.) Akis and Voula finished the Africa portion of their travel adventure in February. In early April they started off on the Asia part of their world travels. They have already gone thru Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan, and are now in India. In the months to come they'll reach China and the rest of East Asia.
