Wenger has spoken out over the interest in his 19-year-old asset. He recently said: "Some clubs are doing their work behind our back to destabilise him."
Rumours have linked a number of Arsenal academy products with possible Ashburton Grove exits, as Barcelona were linked with moves for Arsenal Under-18 pair Benik Afobe and Chukwuemeka Aneke.

Diaz also said that although Merida was a fan of Los Colchoneros as a kid, things have changed and the 19-year-old, who is currently on duty with the Spain Under-21 side, now has his sights set on remaining with the Gunners.
"It's true that as a child he was 'sick' about Atletico but everything has changed a bit. Now his heart and head are with Arsenal," he noted.
"There are much falsehoods in the world of football because the players do not decide what team they play for. The priority now is to negotiate with Arsenal and in the future we'll see. The desire is to keep him at Arsenal and succeed." |
