Atlantic Ocean, present day. A small island in an unplottable (unmappable) location out in the Atlantic is host to Furiae Correctional Facility, an international prison for underage wizards, witches, and humanoid offenders of wizarding law. Here, inmates serve their time for a variety of crimes and attempt to earn levels in order to earn their freedom and reunite with their families in the outside world. If they are unable to attain Level Seven before they reach the age of 18, inmates are shipped to Azkaban, the adult prison in the northern seas guarded by dementors, where they serve the rest of their time.

Furiae is maintained by a Warden and her Marshals. The mythology claims it was once watched over by three gods, although in modern day this is scoffed at as a fairy tale. The three Houses in Furiae nevertheless bear the names of these deities: House Alecto for pureblooded wizard and witch offenders, House Megaera for halfblood or Muggle-born wizard or witch offenders, and House Tisiphone for werecreatures, half-creatures, and other humanoids.

Furiae is set in an alternate universe to the Harry Potter books in which Gellert Grindelwald never rose to power and Lord Voldemort never was and Europe has never heard of the Death Eaters, and so Harry Potter was a normal wizard boy with two normal wizard parents who went to Hogwarts just like everybody else. Players take on roles as marshals and inmates, each with their own alliances and their own agendas.
