THE number of deaths among NATO and allied forces has passed 3000 since the US-led war in Afghanistan started in 2001, according to an independent website tracking the coalition's military fatalities.

The website icasualties.org says 3000 soldiers - of whom almost two-thirds were American - have been killed in the Afghan war and related conflicts elsewhere in the world since 2001.

The most recent casualties, four NATO soldiers killed yesterday, had not yet been included in the figures.

According to the website, 2907 soldiers had been killed in Afghanistan, while the rest were killed elsewhere during the US-led Operation Enduring Freedom.

Since I have been posting ideas lately that no one acts on, let me post another opinion

This war makes no sense in that we are doing the same thing as Vietnam.

The Taliban are recruited and trained in Pakistan.

Why would we not fight them in Pakistan if the Pakistani forces cannot do the job?

Why are we not eliminating the radicle clerics in Pakistan that recruit the Taliban fighters after 9/11?

After WW2 would we have allowed a country to continue to train Nazi fighters without acting?

Playing defense only costs lives, for no good reason, fight to win , or go home. My 2 cents.

Top Afghan peace negotiator shot dead in Kabul

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/top-afghan-peace-...-062657650.html

A senior Afghan peace negotiator and close ally of President Hamid Karzai was shot dead Sunday, dealing a major blow to Kabul's efforts to broker peace with Taliban insurgents.

Arsala Rahmani, a former minister in the Taliban regime, was a "key negotiator" in the High Peace Council (HPC) established by Karzai to hold talks with the insurgents.

"Shortly after leaving home he was hit by a single bullet from a passing car" as he was driving to work in Kabul, Rahmani's grandson Mohammad Waris told AFP.

It's been 11 years now, we cannot win this war and invading other nations will only turn more people against us. Leave now and concentrate on improving internal security.

Yay! Maybe someday we can catch up with the number of innocent civilians we've killed?
