Lesson: Preparing and feeding.
Time: One sevenday after the hatching, technically still winter. Early morning.

The kitchens, as warm as they usually are, where not as crowded. Vail had awoke early this morning, knowing her job at hand. She dressed quickly, with Loruskath still shaking sleep from his limbs, and headed through the tunnels of the weyr to the kitchens. Once there, the weyrling master had taken the time to persuade the regular cooks and drudges out. If, a grumpy weyrling master on her own wasn't persuasive enough. Even so..

Vail did grasp a two drudges by their collars though--she would need them to help her. Leaning against a table, Vail awaited the coming of her charges. On said table behind her, buckets of meat stood. This lesson would comprise of the preparing of food, and the feeding of the growing dragons of Nalith's clutch. Not that they didn't know how to do that before, but she would have to teach them proper technique for when the dragons were older. No need for bad habits in a good weyr.

Atch! She forgot something though, and tapped a drudge on the shoulder. "Knives, please get some knives for the weyrlings. They're going to be preparing their own food for their dragons.

Hands-on teaching. I like it.

Just call the weyrlings please. They have fifteen minutes to get up, get dressed, and be here.

Weyrlings! Loruskath's deep tenor voice boomed in the minds of Vail and her young weyrling charges, and likewise the dragonets. Master Vail calls you to the kitchens! You have fifteen minutes to get ready and be here, lest you be tardy.

Both D’ask’s and Valdoth’s head shot up when they heard the call for the weyrling and their first lesson. They were sleeping before the call, but the blue dragon’s shout into their heads made them jump. First lesson then... I wonder what it going to be. The kitchens right?” Da’sk asked his dragon as he sat up and got out of his bed. Valdoth, who was also getting off his bed- the stone couch in the weyrling’s room-, replied, Yes I believe so, We must hurry we don’t want to be late.

D’ask got dressed and went to the door of his room, Ready to leave? Yes Valdoth said as D’ask opened the door for the growing bronze. It had only been a sevenday since D’ask impressed Valdoth and what a wonderful feeling it was. D’ask followed Valdoth out and the pair walked to the kitchens with time to spare.

First to arrive, D’ask and Valdoth bowed in greeting to the WeyrlingMaster. “Good Morning, WeyrlingMaster Vail. I am D’ask of Bronze Valdoth.” It’s a pleasure to meet you. The bronze added after D’ask had finished speaking. Scooting back a bit, D’ask and Valdoth waited for the other Weyrlings to arrive.

Kagath sighed, body twisting with supprising dexterity for a Weyrling as she turned to once more pace past the cot her bonded lay in. She sighed again, head flashing to look at the form within it, the still sleeping figure. She didn't understand it! They were called to a lesson and Kiri still woudln't get up! Kagath was not angry, or irritated, just a little confused. The mustard Gold sighed, head shaking once more as she wondered what to do to get her bonded up and awake.

There is a lesson, Kiri. It would not do for us to be late, so get up and moving in a better fashion then yesterday morning. Kagath remembered mornings well, while they were a constant source of amusement, she doubted that Kiri got much done in them. They were mainly made up of the red head running around like a lunatic, creating more mess in her search for clothes then there already was. And considering the state of the Weyrling's area in the girls barracks, that was saying something. Kiri groaned, one arm waving in a random direction before rolling over. The girl shifted, pulling up the covers as far as they could go as well as pulling the pillow over her head. The Gold stiffled a growl before stepping towards the edge of the bed, front paws stepping onto the mattress. There were some greens around the barracks that coudln't even step up onto the beds, though it wasn't because they were small for their colour. As Gold, Kagath was larger then even some Bronzes Weyrlings. With a chuckle Kagath ran her tongue up the feet of her bonded, making sure to roll the spit around her mouth first to make sure the lick was as slobbery as she could make it.

Kiri screamed out a curse, pulling a face as she rolled out of the bed and slap bang onto the floor, groaning aloud at that as well. "Dear Faranth, Kagath..." she whined, reaching under her bed to find a dirty shirt that could serve to clean her foot of dragon spit. "Did you have to do that? it's disgusting!" We have a lesson, as I have been trying to tell you. People have already let! Get dressed - anything will do, we're heading to the kitchens was the structured reply to Kiri's question as Kagath shook her head and moved to thrust items of clothing at her rider.

By the time Kagath was heading out the door, Kiri was following, albeit a bit reluctantly. The two made their way through the corridor, Kiri running her hands through her hair in an effort to stop it from looking quite so...bed hair like; though she asn't succeeding yet. her Gold, already grown since her hatching a mere sevenday ago nodded at those who stared, trying to appear unannoyed at the looks. 'Oh, Kagath. You will be the Junior Gold! You're bound to attract attention!' That does not mean that they should stare! Here we are the Gold finished, tone slightly 'miffed' as she steped into the kitchen, blinking as she saw only one other Weyrling. Kiri laughed and stuck her tongue out at the dragonet; they were not so late after all.

"Hello Master Vail! It's a pleasure to meet you," Kiri said, smiling brightly as she did so. She really had thought that the Weyrling Master wuld be male, hence the title; but there was two of them, so one of them could be male. At least one of them was female! But they cuold have changed the title slightly. They should have! It wasn't fair for a woman to be called 'Master'. "I'm Kiri, this is Kagath!" You're ignoring my clutch'brother, Kiri. The girl span around, blinking as she looked over at the boy and his Bronze. She smiled at them both, stepping towards them with her hand held out towards him. "Hello! Sorry, I don't know your name...You know mine though! Right?"

Weyrlings! Master Vail calls you to the kitchens! You have fifteen minutes to get ready and be here, lest you be tardy.

“Meep.” Nuri made a sleepy noise as she thrust her head out from under her covers. She blinked sleepily, her short hair tousled. Turning to her side, she huddled under the covers on her cot and looked over at Fukuith, curled on her stone weyrling couch. She had grown quite a bit since the hatching only a week ago, it still surprised her that she had actually impressed.

Fukuith yawned, showing an expanse of teeth and a long curled tongue. Get up. The more you delay the colder it will feel. Besides, I’m hungry, and Kagath and Valdoth are already in the kitchens. Nuri made no move to get out of bed, scowling at her dragon. Its winter. Stone is cold.

SHRIEEK!

Nuri, dumped from her cot by Fukuith, lept up and danced from foot to foot as she rooted for fresh clothes, teeth chattering. “That wasn’t nice.” She admonished dragon, dislodging Sienna from his perch atop her clothes chest as she hunted for socks and pulled her boots on, hopping on one foot after Fukuith, whose tail was just disappearing out the door. Half-running, she caught up with Fukuith. By the shell! It’d only been five minutes or so, what was the green’s hurry?

Sienna swooped through the hallway, cheerful as ever and very hungry. They entered the kitchens just behind Kiri and Kagath. Nuri waved cheerfully at the Weyrlingmaster and her classmates as she greeted them, it wasn’t morning she objected to, just cold. Fukuith echoed her greeting, first addressing the blue dragon and then her clutchmates, sitting with her tail wrapped ‘round her legs like a smug cat. I pulled her covers off and dumped her on the cold floor. She announced to her siblings, pleased with her results.
