One day can make all the difference. One day can change your life, the life around you, everything. One day can change the way you walk, the way you talk, the way everything seems to matter. One day cna change the way you look at the world, at the person beside you, at life, at death, at everything. One day can change the world. That's all it takes and all it ever took to make a difference. One day. A sinlge set of hours and minuets that can stretch your entire lifetime before it happens. When it does nothing is ever the same again. Nothing can change a day, how it runs is already set in stone, in fate and blood and no matter how hard you try, what is done is done and you just have to sit back and accept that nothing will ever be the same again. Ca'en was wishing yesterday had never happened. Sure, Chasmoth was all he could ever hope for. His own dragon. His handsome Brown filled a place in himself nothing else could fill. But he wasn't half annoying.
Ca'en let out a sigh of relief as he found a wall in the Weyr Bowl, sinking down it to sit on the floor. Even Chasmoth himself looked a little tired. The two had been running around the Weyr all day, the Brown showing what had appeared to be an engery supply that was inexhaustible. Ca'en hoped that tomorrow wasn't like today. Looking up he let Chasmoth half cllapse on his legs, one hand vauguely coming to rest on his head. It was cold, and he should have really worn more, the shirt and trousers were fine inside fire warmed rooms, but in the 'Bowl it was different. Winter was cold. Do not worry Ca'en! I will keep you warm! and he sounded so proud Ca'en could do nothing but smile at him and hope he didn;t upset the Brown. So he let him drap his heavy form over his lap, wincing as a paw got his stomach - Faranth knows how it got there - and sighing when he eventually settled down. Yes, it was cold, very much so, but at least he was sitting down, and Chasmoth was content. Today had been good so far, it was still far form over. In a bid to fullfill Chasmoth's need to know everything, and ask questions about everything (Ca'en was getting a headache already), the two had been everywhere. The lower caverns, the corridors of the rider's weyr's, the candidates barracks, the kitchens (and had been thrown out), the hatching sands and they'd even been to get a glimpse of the Wher clutch. That had been the source of many questions from the Brown, exhausting Ca'en's source of Wher knowledge, not that it had been much of a store. After all of that, they still had the rest of the day to go. Joy. Chasmoth merely stared lovingly up at his bonded. What are we going to do next Ca'en? I'd really like to know what they do when people are hurt. What do they do when people are hurt Ca'en? There we go. |

(( So sorry for the lateness. I promise I'll try not to let the next one drag out so long! *bows head in apology* ))
S'rin sat in the Weyr Bowl, gazing longingly into the sky. He simply couldn't wait for the day that he and Zapalath could soar and dive like the other dragons and their riders, and he knew the young green longed for the peace of mind that being in the air brought others. He couldn't believe that just the day before he had actually Impressed the pale green dragonet, who was happily playing with an insect at the time. Are you having fun, Zapalath? he asked her, his mental voice warm with happiness. You've been torturing that little insect for ages, little one. You'll cause it to die that way. Zapalath craned her head around to gaze at her rider as she skidded to a stop, allowing the creature she was chasing to fly away. What do you mean, 'cause it to die'? she asked, glancing back at the insect, who was already far out of the young man's sight. Are they that fragile, S'rin? As clumsy as Zapalath had been upon hatching, she was starting to gain a little more of the fluid grace that some dragons were well-known for. Though, like now, she still had her awkward moments. One misstep had caused Zapalath to trip on her own front foot, sending her diving nose-first into the dirt below her. Hey! I really don't like tripping, S'rin, she commented with an indignant snort as she pushed herself to her feet. "You'll get better with time, love. Don't worry about it for now; only try your best to keep track of where your tail and feet are," the young man told his dragonet with a warm smile before he glanced around the Bowl. After so long with his father and brothers in the mines, he was finally free of that life. Never again would he feel the stinging loneliness that working oneself to the bone brought him for a good four Turns. "Hey, isn't that one of your clutchmates, Zapalath?" he asked upon catching sight of a brown dragonet sitting with his rider nearby. Of course, S'rin already knew the answer; the dragon was brown Chasmoth, and he had witnessed the young brown Impress to Ca'en, the younger boy sitting nearby. Huh? Oh, yes, that's Chasmoth. Zapalath rumbled a greeting to her brother, though she wasn't sure if he'd hear it or not, and glanced back at S'rin. Would you like to go and talk with them? The young green didn't like the thought of going so willingly into even that small of a group, but she would do it if her rider so desired. "Yes, let's go talk with them," S'rin muttered as he pushed himself onto his feet and dusted himself off. He knew how important it would be to Zapalath for him to open up a bit more, and he honestly felt a little more comfortable around the brown weyrling than he felt around anyone else. "Come on, Zapalath. You know Chasmoth understands that you're shy, and I'm sure he'll not be so energetic," he added as they started walking, the rider's hand resting on the dragonet's neck as they strode closer to the pair. "Hello, Ca'en," S'rin greeted in his usual quiet and reserved manner as he held out a hand for the younger weyrling to shake. "I'm not sure if we ever properly met. I wasn't at the Weyr that long when the Hatching occurred, after all. I'm S'rin, and this is Zapalath," he added, introducing both himself and his green in the same breath. Good day, Chasmoth, Zapalath said in an even more hushed tone. Have you been running a lot? You look tired. |

((That's fine! Sorry for the lateness of mine as well T_T I am also wearing a t-shirt the same colour as your dragon XD))
Shards it was cold. The sky was so white, the air seemed to crackle with just that feeling of white cold, promising snow later on in the day. Small forzen little pteals of ice that would drift in complex patterns to the ground, covering it to almost unrecognisable shades, and hiding every little imperfection the ground around the area had to offer. It was the almost perfect type of weather, it hid the world from it's watchers, let it have a break from the eyes that scanned it's brown and green expanse. And Chasmoth was sure to ask so many questions about it. How it formed, why it formed, why it fell, why it was white, why it was cold, why it was wet, why it was dissapearing. Ca'en was doomed. But for the moment it was peaceful. Ca'en had his eyes closed and Chasmoth was just lying on his lap, everything was quiet and even though it was cold the two were at peace. His chest rose and fell with every breath, and to the people around them it might look like they were sleeping outside on this cold winters day. I really think it's too cold for you out here, Ca'en. I can't keep you warm forever! As much as it was a blow to the dragons ego, it had to be said. Ca'en chuckled at the Brown, running a hand over his head as he shook his head. They both missed the welcoming warble from Zapalath. They didn't miss the hand that was held out to them though. Ca'en looked up, black hair falling into his eyes as he blinked up at S'rin. He'd met the guy in the Barracks sometimes, in passing of coure, but he did know the guy by sight. He liked the Greenrider, as much as he could like someone he didn't really know. Sure, he didn't mind the Greenrider's company, he thought he was nice and all that from the few times they had met, but he had no idea about ther person S'rin was. "S'rin," he murmered, nodding as he reached a hand up to sahek S'rin offered one, "Nice to see you and your Zapalath. We've met a few times." It wasn't that that really needed to be said, but S'rin hadn't been sure if they'd met properly, and they hadn't really. Chasmoth looked up eagerly, a draconic gin lighting up his features. His sister! His wonderful sister Zapalath! He chirped, scrambling up from his rider's lap and leaving him cold once more as he bounced over to his sister, catching himself before he reached her and sliding to a stop. Oh! He shouldn't do that! She was his quiet and calm his little sister, she dind't like big noises and things. He had to be quiet. Lowering his head he moved over to her, looking for all the world like a kicked puppy, only a dragon instead. Zapalath! It's ownderful to see you! Me and Ca'en have been exploring the Weyr! It's very exciting! Despite the excitement in his voice he was almost whispering to his sister, eyes wide as he tried to contain his excitement. He so loved his little sister! |
