Charles Anthon Preparatory Boarding School. The name alone is enough to make you shiver a little, before you even take a look at the impressive buildings, take notice of its' reputation, or stand in awe the today powerful alumni. The school represents
power better than you saying the word out loud ten times ever would. And I tell you, it's every bit as imposing as it first seems.
The students who go here are the next generation of politicians and presidents, CEOs, high-profile lawyers, state of the art doctors, successful authors and artists. Success has always been the keyword, whichever direction the students take after graduation. The students here are also like any other group of teenagers. They lie, they cheat, they drink, they study, they fall in and out of love, they overreact, they destroy, they create and they play the game of high school, whether they be on the receiving end of it or not.
The school has been around since the early 1800's, founded by Charles Anthon. It was to be a school for the rich and wealthy, and unlike many other schools who eventually let scholarship students in, the original exclusiveness has remained intact. Now, who said rich kids always play nice? Well okay, no one
ever claimed that. But it's not always the stereotypical poor vs. wealthy. Let me tell you a story. Is it true? Well, how would I know? You've all heard about Rochester Industries and H&P corporation, right? Well. They are fervent rivals in the real world -- that being the out of high school world. Well, both companies are known partly because of their confusing web of partner companies, branches, and affiliates -- in simple words, because they're huge. Many, many of the top dogs are charles anthon alumni -- yes, I'm giving you facts now. This means that there are a lot of children descending from either company in attendance.
It is said, that 50 something years ago, the heirs of the current CEOs of the two main companies were both in attendance at charles anthon. Both being young, fiery, head strong boys with deep loyalties. Yes, they were currently at it. Comparing, outdoing, and humiliating the other as often as they could. Both had a good amount of followers too. As the rivalry intensified students, following their parents loyalties, picked sides. For a while, it was real ugly and very high-profile. It was escalating and growing out of reasonable proportion, and ended in suspension for both boys. I know, it doesn't sound believable right? When daddy's money can't save you, you know you've gone too far.
The boys returned to the campus. Lesson learned, was the general opinion, as the boys seemed to settle for throwing angry glares at each other across the room. Wrong. They were smart enough to not make the same mistake again though, but were both blaming the other for their embarrassing mark on the records, and both determined to get back. How exactly they both came to forming their little societies, no one knows. Perhaps the need for it to be kept under radar was what led to the intense secrecy in the first place. No one knew for sure, but the two sides quickly became unofficially known as Red Rose and White Rose around campus. Teachers suspected nothing, but dark, dark pranks were being played on people. Now, rumor has it that the secret societies have been passed down throughout the generations of heirs at charles anthon, just like the companies are once they graduate. No one knows for sure though. And as unexplainable things happen, adults choose to look the other way. The Headmaster's stand all those years ago, when he suspended those boys, had already cost them enough. Could it really be though? After all, it's just High School...
