Everything was different about this place. Jafar had been prepared for that, but actually being here was a different thing entirely. The weather was significantly milder compared to his homeland. Here the sun was gentle instead of scorching, the air soft and fresh. To Jafar, it seemed chilly, and he was grateful for his long robes. The same layers that kept him cool in the desert now kept the slight chill away in this European land.

He liked this kingdom, though. More or less. It was elegant and well-groomed, with sprawling gardens, rolling grassy hills, and the palace was bright and lovely. Not as lavish as Agrabah, lacking the rich golds and vibrant jewels….so, a poorer place, it seemed, but still lovely.

But he wasn’t here for the weather, or the paved streets or metal carriages, or for jewels.

The sorcerer stood in a large room with marble floors, soaking with bright sunlight from high windows. He was awaiting an audience with the young queen. A mere girl, Jafar had heard. He had been wary when he first began to collect information on her. The thought of dealing with another spoiled royal brat like Jasmine made him grind his teeth so hard, Iago could hear it across the room. But all the reports had turned up that this Queen Mia was generous and gentle.

Good, that would make her much easier to work with.

Her attendants had told Jafar to wait in this sunny foyer, and she would be with him presently. While all was quiet, the sorcerer shrugged one shoulder, jostling his travelling companion. The ornery parrot was perched in his usual spot. “You should go before you are seen,” Jafar said.
