MY informationName: Jazz Age: 18 Contact Info: msn: pirate_queen08@hotmail.com Other Character: none Where'd you find us? RPG directory ---------- ANNE elizabeth NEELY MY basicsName: Anne Elizabeth Neely Nickname: Annie, Anne, Mama, Mrs. Neely Age: 49 Date of Birth: July 12, 1726 MY bodyFace Claim: Laura Linney Hair: Dark Brown with gray streaks Eyes: Blue Physical Description:Anne Neely is a woman of average physical appearance. She stands at a modest 5' 1" and weighs about 130 pounds. Her body shape has changed over the years due to her pregnancies, but she is still rather fit in the arms and legs due to her work on the farm. Anne's skin has a light tan weather-worn look to it from her time spent on the farm and the stress of living during these hard times. Her hair is usually tied back in a low pony-tail or other style appropriate concerning the occasion. She can usually be seen in darker colors since the passing of her husband. While working on the farm she tends to dress in browns since it is harder to see dirt on them. In public, though she prefers to wear light grays or blacks depending on the occasion. When it comes to jewelry and other ornamentation, Anne finds them rather pointless and tiresome when it comes to everyday life, and only wears then on special occasions. There are two pieces of jewelry she wears continuously though, her wedding ring and a cross necklace Mr. Neely had bought for her for their tenth wedding anniversary. The cross is made of gold and is from France. Mrs. Neely never wears make up saying that she will not paint her face like some common trollop. As for the natural gray streaks in her hair, she says they are a sign of wisdom. Mrs. Neely can always be seen with a smile on her face in public and around her children as she does not wish to worry them. MY thoughtsPersonality: Growing up Anne was taught by her parents to “Be good and do good.” They taught their daughter everything they knew about being a good woman and being a good person. Anne’s father believed that his daughter should have political opinions and not be just a strong housewife. He taught her and her brothers about what was going on around the world during his time at home. Anne was taught by her mother the correct way to keep a house. Anne strongly believes that woman can be both advisors to their husbands, in private, and good housewives. Anne continues this idea on into her own family, agreeing with Isaiah that Beth should be tutored along with her brothers.
Anne is very stubborn in her ways, and will not let anyone change her mind. She will listen to everyone’s opinions fairly and will submit her own when the time is right. She knows when a woman should speak and when a woman should remain silent, she hopes that her daughter has learned this as well. Anne tried to be kind to everyone she meets. She gives them all chances and would rather not judge them on their first appearances. Living on the idea of “Be good and do good” Anne does everything she can to help those others in the Trenton area. She keeps her door open to the other women in the area giving them an ear to talk to and a shoulder to cry on.
While she cares for the entire community, her first love and duty is to her family. She loves all of her children and worries about all of them. She wishes that they will all grow to be as happy and successful as she and her husband had been. She will do nearly anything for her children, as long as it is for their own good.
Anne continued to try and be good and kind even though the death of Isaiah had a hard impact on her emotionally. She stays strong on the outside, though often she feels alone and like she is falling apart on the inside. During those times of heartache she remembers what her mother had become and determines to do all she can to overcome her emotions and take care of the family and the farm. Likes:Isaiah Her Children Apples Horses The Farm The Revolution Music Reading Working on the farm Mrs. Abigail Adams The nights at the beginning of fall, the leaves are falling but it’s still warm Dislikes:War Being a widow Winter/Blizzards Sleeping The Ocean Growing Old Being Alone People not listening to her because she is a woman. General Cornwallis MY pastLoyalty: Patriot Family: Alexander & Mary Lawrence- parents deceased Jebidiah- brother 58 Charles- brother 54 Isaiah – husband deceased Son-26 Elizabeth Neely- 20 Son-16 History:Anne Elizabeth Lawrence was born July 12, 1726 to merchant sailor Alexander and Mary Lawrence. The couple already had two other sons and the birth of a daughter came as much relief to Mrs. Lawrence who was excited to finally have another female presence in the house. Being the only girl in the house and youngest child, Anne was spoiled by both of her parents. Alexander was never around much due to his duty as a merchant sailor, but he always returned with gifts for all of his children. Things changed in the winter of 1741 when Alexander was killed when his sailing ship was destroyed during a storm. Anne, 15, and her mother moved in with her older brother Jebidiah, 24, and his family. Anne watched as her mother fell into a deep depression over the loss of her husband. Her mother’s depression was one of the reasons Anne has remained so strong after the death of her husband. She was not going to fall apart and abandon her family. Mary died a year after her husband leaving Anne, who at the time had already begun being courted by Mr. Isaiah Neely, in the care of her brother.
Anne, while grateful for her brother’s support, was tired of being a burden to him and his family. Isaiah seeing his loves sadness, went to Jebidiah and asked for permission to marry Anne. Jebidiah consented to the marriage and the couple was married in early spring of 1744. Four years after her marriage to Isaiah, Anne gave birth to their first son. Isaiah was thrilled with the birth of the boy and the growing family. Six years later a beautiful daughter was born to the Neely’s. Elizabeth was spoiled by her father, and was a source of constant worry for her mother. Anne was rather afraid that her little girl would be affected to much by her brothers. Anne has grown very proud of her daughter and the beautiful young woman she has become. Anne was slightly saddened when Beth was younger that she preferred to spend time with her father, but knows that it is for the best for her little girl. Her third and last child came six years later, another son. The time between all three of the children's births were planned by the Neely’s so that they could spend time with each of their children in their younger stages of development.
Things went rather well for the family for the next ten years. The children grew all into fine young adults. Isaiah Neely was a strong supporter of the idea of an independent America. Anne agreed with her husband, believing that it was in the best interest for the future of the colonies that they achieve their freedom. As the war began, Anne worried constantly for her sons, who were hoping to help in the cause of Independence. Anne respected the heads of the Revolution greatly, but worried at the same time for her children. The last thing she wanted was for her children to live during a time of war. The death of Isaiah Neely of pneumonia only a year ago crushed Anne. The couple had been together for about thirty years at the time of his death. Anne did not show any public suffering on the outside keeping herself strong for her children. She would not let herself become a widow like her mother had been. Anne has kept the farm in good working condition with the help of her children. Anne continues on her husband’s dream of the family living and owning a successful farm in a free America.
