What can't you post?
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, racist, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this forum. In addition because of the possibilities that may lead from accounts on My-Space, you can not post a link in connection with that website. Although these problems may not be your fault, there are still ads and links on My-Space that violate the rules of this forum.
Use descriptive subject lines & research your post.
This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Also, scan the subjects of the last several days' posts to make sure you aren't duplicating posts.
Keep the focus.
Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum.
Zero tolerance on piracy.
Posting links to warez sites and program cracks (including no-CD crack) are not allowed on the forum. Anyone found guilty of participating in piracy activity on the forum will be punished.
Spam is not tolerated.
Spam is considered posting topics or messages on our forums that contain no point, relevance, or contain subject matter that doesn't directly allow other member participation. Topics directed to a particular user, posting several times consecutively as an appendage to ONE post, and posts in threads that have NOTHING to do with the subject matter are all considered spam and will be deleted on sight. Contributing to/or intentionally posting spam will not be tolerated.
Keep your signature brief.
This forum has a signature feature that allows you to "sign" your posts with a customized block of text. The text may include links to other sites (as long as they are within the forum rules) and emoticons. No derogatory references to other members, spoiler tags, or quote tags are allowed in signatures.
Multiple accounts are not permitted.
Create one account, make sure you're satisfied with the name, and keep it. Be sure to choose your user name carefully. If you wish to change your user name for whatever reason, please contact Dreia (admin).
Postcount titles & avatars
If you have 1 post you can give yourself a custom title and a custom avatar. The dimension limit of custom avatars is 120x120 pixels. You can change your title or avatar in your User Control Pannel.
Images and file attachments
If you need to attach images often, we recommend using these easy to use free image hosting services: PhotoBucket or ImageShack. For temporary hosting of large files or if you need to send a big file to another member, you can use the free YouSendIt service, which allows you to upload up to 1 GB and they host the file for 1 week.
Behave as you would in a public location.
This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being. If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.
Your rights to Freedom of Speech don't apply here.
You are welcome to have opinions. You are welcome to question certain subject matter posted on these forums. You are welcome to dislike a certain post or disagree with it. Though we typically condone people to express their opinions and ideas, we have the right to delete yours if necessary, should we consider it abusive.
Please refrain from using leet speek. Using such language leads to confusion which causes spam in order to clarify the speech. Using proper speech shows respect to your fellow forumers and your admin.
Advertising and solicitations are NOT permitted.
Posting of advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on this forum. You are ONLY permitted to advertise your site in your signature if it's a topic related site and in the one thread specifically for that purpose. The exception to this rule is to inform others of sites that provide a service to benefit them. For example, posting a thread regarding a new free web space provider is acceptable providing there's nothing in it for you except the satisfaction of helping your fellow members.
Your account is for YOU only.
You may use your account to post your opinions, your thoughts, and your views within the guidelines stated on this page. You may NOT use your account to post for people who are not members or have had their posting permissions removed. You also may not grant others access to your account.
We reserve the right to change these policies at any time.
It is YOUR responsibility to read announcements regarding policy changes. Announcements are contained in the Gate Diagnostic section under the Announcements and Problems forum.
Chat Room
If you would like the password to access this function of the forum, please PM me, Dreia (admin) your request. It will be considered and you will be notified as soon as possible. If you have gotten it already and it does not work, PM Dreia, the password may have changed. By PMing, you agree to respect those also in the Chat room, refrain from any bad language, NEVER give the password to the forum or the Chat room to anyone else. If you lose or forget the password, please PM the admin or a mod about it and not ask anyone else to break these rules. There will be a period of time between when you first join and when I will give you the password. Unless I know you well beforehand, I must moniter your posts to make sure the chat room will remain safe. Breaking the chat room rules will result in a week's suspension from Dusty Tomes.
I reserve to right to take away or withold the priviledge of the chat room for any reason or no reason at all.
Guests
In the few threads you may post on, you must obey all guidelines like a member. Remember to be polite to the member of Administration or the member who answers any questions you have. Not conforming to the rules will result in either a suspension or a ban from ever coming or joining Dusty Tomes.
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in removal of your posting privileges.
Depending on the severity of your violation and the number of times you have previously violated the Forum Guidelines, the Administration may choose to suspend your posting privileges or terminate your account. If you are suspended you will not be able to post on our forums for an amount of time to be determined by the Administration.
Dusty Tomes and all posts, forums, as well as any other material related to this board belongs exclusively to the staff of the Dusty Tomes board.
