This is a poem that an elderly lady gave me when I was nursing.

"She was a child, before we were born,
Now she is helpless, old and forlorn,
She was a bride, long years ago,
Walking in beauty, cheeks all a glow,
She was a mother, babes at her breast,
Caring for others, giving her best,
She is a woman, salute her for this,
Now she is withered, harder to kiss,
Speak to her gently, nurse her with pride,
Now that she waits to sail with the tide,
Ours are the last hands, that she'll ever hold,
Let her know love, now she is old.

It made me cry when I first read it.

Here is another one, this one is a funny one my friend gave me.

"I want you to know,
That our friendship,
Means a lot to me,
You cry, I cry,
You laugh, I laugh,
You jump out the window,
I look, then laugh again!!"

When things go wrong as they sometime will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, ad the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit;
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Success is failure, turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
If may be near when is seems afar,
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit;
It's when things go wrong that, you mustn't quit.
