At a party, Aspasia :)

[Danae Collective]

Danae stood gracefully still, her hand wrapped around a drink. She had spotted a lyre resting on a chair and was trying to resist the urge to go over and start playing it. Trying to get her mind on other things, she turned to see who was standing near her.

It was a pale young girl Danae had never seen before. She decided to wait for the girl to look her way before she said anything.

[Aspasia]

Aspasia sat crossly, irritated at the world in general. Her fibula pin was poorly made and kept jabbing her sharply, and her dress was a bit too long. She didn't dare walk quickly for fear of tripping on the hem. And her head hurt. Her mother had insisted on a new style of hair arrangement, and it was far from comfortable.

She glanced around and noticed another girl, obviously wealthy from the look of her clothes. She, at least, had a comfortable-looking hair style.

Danae tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, trying not to look self-conscious. She gave the girl a friendly smile.

"You look as though there's somewhere you would much rather be," she said, not too loudly.

[Aspasia]

Aspasia jumped slightly, startled as the girl spoke.

"Oh... yes, I suppose so. I don't leave home often," she replied, attempting to seem comfortable and confident.

[Danae Collective]

Danae nodded. "What do you usually do then?"

[Aspasia]

"I... do... ladylike things," she stuttered, thrown off by the question.

[Danae Collective]

"Like sewing and combing your hair?" said Danae, hiding her distaste. Ladylike things?? What was that supposed to mean?

[Aspasia]

Aspasia's eyes widened as she replied, "I'm dreadful at sewing, and worse at combing my hair. The comb just seems to make it more tangled!"

[Danae Collective]

Danae laughed softly. "What do you do then?"

[Aspasia]

"I... I weave. And sew," Aspasia replied, blushing. Weaving and sewing was servants' work. This aristocratic young woman would no doubt find such work entirely distasteful.

[Danae Collective]

Danae gave the young woman a quizzical ((I LOVE that word. Quizzical!)) look. "Did you not just say you were dreadful at sewing? Oh well, no matter." Her smile returned. "I've woven in the past, just to look accomplished. But I must admit I have no talent for it."

[Aspasia]

"Oh..." Aspasia blushed, scrambling for what to say, "I... I... I'm not very good at sewing, but I'm learning. I'm better at weaving."

((Ha... goes to show I should pay more attention. I've been busy lately.))

"How lucky you are. I could never get the hang of it," she smiled.

[Aspasia]

((It's okay, I haven't been too active myself ))

Aspasia smiled, comforted by Danea's gentle presence.

"What do you do?"

"What do I do?" Danae grinned. "Oh, just learn how to run the island when my father is incapable." She laughed softly. "No, I exaggerate. I simply amuse myself in whatever way I can. As I said, weaving ends in tears more often than not," she said cheerfully.
