A brilliant idea (Kestas and Aurelia), continued!! lol

[Danae Collective]

Danae:

Danae walked purposefully towards a particular house. She was quite pleased with herself, not only for finding someone who she though would be right for her friend, but for finding out where he actually lived! Now that was talent! She smiled to herself and thought back to when she had first met this man. Well, she supposed he was a boy really.

Two years ago, visiting her father's friends in Corinth. The promise of a musical performance.
Oh, I know how you enjoy music, Danae.
I prefer playing music, she had thought.
But no, there was this young boy who had proved her wrong, no more than thirteen years old with the voice of an angel.
I would like to congratulate you on a wonderful performance.
Thank you, princess.
The short, meaningless conversation, merely an exchange of words. But no, she had seen it; the kindness in his eyes. He would love Aurelia for who she was, Danae was sure of it.

She smiled, imagining all the good that would come of this meeting that was just about to take place. And all because of her! She would not fail Aurelia.

Thinking of Aurelia, she was being very quiet, not even walking loudly. Danae glanced behind her.

Aurelia:

Aurelia awlked with her head bowed and her loose hair blowing in the tiny wind. The sky was overcast and she felt sad, though she did not know why. There were plenty of reasons, but what could they be? She wished that her prince charming would come, so she could be realised from her state of permanent sadness.

Danae:

Danae looked at her downcast friend and her sense of triumph deflated a little. She didn't show it though.

"Nearly there!" she said cheerfully, as she turned a sharp corner. Kestas's house was at the end of this street. She smiled to herself. She had even remembered his name!

She slowed her pace a little as they approached the house. It was modest but by no means rundown or poor-looking. Of course Danae looked at it with distaste, but that was no surprise considering what she was used to.

Danae sighed a little. "I can tell you're not sure about this, Aurelia. But I think he would like you. He is kind."

From what I can remember. Perhaps she had exaggerated how well she knew him a little. Still, no turning back now.

She knocked on the door and stood outside expectantly, her head high, looking every bit the princess she was.

Aurelia nodded, not knowingwhat she ccould say. Still, this was not a problem since she couldn't sayanything anyway.

Kestas heard the knock. His mother turn away from her cooking and huffed and puffed her way to the door. She hated being interrupted. As Kestas stood in his room, fondling (sp?) his lyre he wondered who was coming to see them. Then he heard his mother's gasp.

He hurried to the door, ready to defend his mother or something daring like that, only to find the princess of Argos standing in the doorway with... Kestas stopped dead in his tracks. There was a girl- no, a woman, standing behind Princess Danae. She may ot have been the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, but he certainly liked the look of her. She portrayed an image of caring and loving. He smiled at her, then realised his rudeness and addressed the princess,

"My princess," he said and humbly bowed, "What an honour!"

((Sorry about the horrid 'love at first sight thing... I just didn't want to make it seem like he didn't like her. You know when you see someone and you instantly feel like you like them...? Maybe not. But this was the sort of thing I was trying to portray...))

A dazzling smile slowly grew on Danae's face. He was here! She was so pleased she forgot to do anything regal at all.

"It's lovely to see you again...erm, young man." She'd forgotten his name again. "Kestas!!" That was the one. Ugh, how embarassing. "Sorry, I just...may I speak to you? It is important."

[Helen Collective]

Kestas was about to show her in when he stopped. SHe didn't sound anything like a princess should. Nothing like when he had first met her... He smiled. He had been so nervous that time!

He shook himself. This was the princess of Argos he was talking about! Who cared if she was acting a little strange? He smiled broadly to her and showed her inside to the living room ((the Greeks had living rooms right?)). He heard his mother hurry back to the kitchen and return to her onion with vigor.

THey all sat down and he cringed as he saw the look on the princess's face. She was obviously used to nicer places.

"Excuse my home," he said timtidly, "If we had known you were coming..." he trailed off.

[Danae Collective]

"Oh gods, don't even worry about that! Really, I just need to talk to you...but I'm not sure how to say this." She ducked her head for a moment and when she raised her face she had regained her regal air. Coolly she gazed at him, waiting for a response.

OOC: LOL it so sounds like she's coming on to him!! Don't be fooled, Kestas!

Aurelia had obediently followed Danae, her head wanting to look all around her but contenting her self to what she could see from her present position.

With his eyes still on the strange woman, Kestas spoke to Danae.

"Tell me! I am anxious to hear about..." he trailed off.

He had a suspicion that this visit was about the lovely woman sitting next to the princess of Argos.

OOC: Don't worry! Kestas is a smart boy... sometimes...

Danae paused before speaking. "This is Aurelia -- a friend of mine," she began.

[Helen Collective]

Kestas smiled, "Pleased to meet you, Aurelia" and he extended his hand.

However, just before he could grasp her hand, his mother stepped into the room. She was a little tender about Kestas meeting other girls without her knowlegde of the girl. So, somehow, she always managed to offer some sort of food to the woman and chat endlessly to her.

At that moment she coughed and announced, "I've just whipped up some light refreshments. Would you all care to come and have a taste? I'm afraid," she said turning to Danae, "that my cooking my not be that same as what you have in the castle, so please excuse it."

With a sight Kestas stood up. "We may as well see what she has to offer." And he led the women into the kitchen.

Aurelia spun her head round to look at the new arrival. From her seated position she could not look up at her, so she had to stand and then when the suggestion of going into the kitchen, she followed meekly.

[Danae Collective]

Danae sighed quietly and subtly ran a hand over her waist and hips. "I am not really hungry," she lied apologetically. "Although I'm sure your mother's cooking is wonderful."

[Hephaestus Collective]

Aurelia looked at her. She wasn't hungry either, but of course she couldn't say so. She sighed quietly. Why in the gods' name had she been brought here?

[Helen Collective]

Kestas laughed.

"You try telling my mother that!" he said to Danae. But still he lead them into the kitchen. They sat down at a small round table that had been covered by his mother's best table cover ((for lack of a better name! lol)). She was obviously trying to impress. Kestas cringed. He was sorry, but he didn't think it would be all that impressive.

Once again his mother bustled around them for a while, and then, taking the silent hint her son was giving her, left the room.

OOC: Gah! I couldn't get my genders right today! I was writing him for Kestas's mother and she for Kestas! Gah!

Danae glanced at Aurelia and was saddened slightly by the look on her face. Maybe they weren't perfect for each other...?

She smiled sweetly at Kestas. "She won't be offended if we eat nothing, will she? Maybe you had better eat everything and pretend it was us."
