it's a crazy world_______
Ever since his father's dead body dropped to the ground, Rain has been running. Maeniel urged him on, Jude tried to calm him down, and Jewel was just screaming, screaming, telling him that there was nowhere safe anymore. There was a certain safety to his mind offered by the tunnels. It was the place Rain grew up afterall, and he made it his task to explore every corner availiable to him, also certain places that are not. It was the element of danger that he loved, of running into a Flashback member and then...Whim took over and it was what
he loved.
Breathing in the smell of the damp air, he allowed himself to creep along the tunnels, back against the wall. It was a familiar position to him, and it made him feel safer. It was because of whatever they put into his genetics, and the tunnels were his natural home. When he was little the kids used to make fun of the way he talked.
"Hey little snake," they would sneer,
"Snakey boy...ssssnakey snakey boy." It was why he chose the axe as his weapon, because it was badass and bigger than most people's heads. He learned the fine points of the axe as something to throw, to improve his target and aim. He learned to use the blade to chop, and the handle to block. He practiced so much that the blisters on his hands broke and bled, broke and bled, until they were hard yellow calluses that he was proud of. When they gave him the rank of master in the weapon level, it was the first time that his father looked at him with a sort of pride.
He gritted his teeth. His father. It was always about his father. He knew he was about to throw himself into a rage, and the best way to release that rage was to pick on some Flashback people. The Boomerang was the best place to hit first, ever since Ethan took the curve of the tunnel singlehandedly, then Flashback fought back and Ember lost, but all of Ember remembered. It wasn't that Rain wanted to achieve Ethan's great feat, but he thought that bloodying the blade of his axe was the most tempting option to him at the moment.
Suddenly, he heard noise ahead, and he froze, listening for the source of that sound. The voices were unfamiliar, and either he just stumbled on some very stupid loners or some Flashback members patrolling their territory. From the stumbling way they moved, he thought that they were probably not skilled at their job. He advanced by moving forward a few steps, and then stopping, shuffling another few steps and then stopping again. He gauged by the sound of the footsteps and matching up the voices, that there were three of them. Three against one.
Do you want to tempt fate? Maeniel asked.
"I don't think it's my day to die," he whispered, and then he balanced the axe in his grip. He straightened, advancing forward with confident steps.
"What do we have here?" He announced his presence with his loud voice.
"...A bunch of stumbling Flashback idiots."
_______but we're all. mad. here.
