the rules!

OK guys. We all know sites have them and I apologise in advance for the fact that they’re a must read but it’s five minutes out of your life that it’ll take to scan over them so there’s really no excuse. So shall we begin?

POSTING.

We’re a literate site and accept any member who is able to write at an intermediate to advanced level. Of course, if you want to challenge yourself then feel free to hop on board this train. We require a minimum of 300 words per post, which, if I’m being honest, is only one good paragraph. We, the staff, are always on the prowl for posts below the minimum count; not much escapes our attention. If you’re consistently posting less than the word count, we’ll send you a PM to encourage you to post more. It just gives your partner something to work with, then you can get a really worthwhile thread out of whatever relationship you’ve plotted or whatever scenario you’re threading. Also, and here’s the part where I get really serious… we love literacy and grammar. Nothing irks us more than terrible grammar in a post. It’s easy to get it right, just run it through Microsoft word. If you don’t have Microsoft word then use an online spell checker… there are loads of them around. Grammar is one of the first things we learn at school and it not only keeps us staff happy but also makes it easier for the person you're threading with to read, understand and reply to. Also, third person posting only please… we’re not a twilight book and, as such, don’t allow first person. Writing from your characters point of view is just a little weird.

RATING

This site is rated R. We allow almost anything to be posted, bad language, consensual sex, non-consensual sex, drug use etc. If you’re easily offended then this site may not be for you. All we ask though is that any topic with mature content be clearly marked with an [M] in the topic title so that unwitting readers don’t accidentally stumble over something they may not want to read. We want everyone to feel welcome and able to differentiate the mature topics from the non-mature topics easily. Just try and keep it realistic. We don’t want a million pregnant teens running around or everyone on some form of drugs. We know that hook ups will happen but not every thread needs to include them. If we see a topic that includes mature content and it’s not clearly marked, we’ll send you a message with a gentle reminder not to let it slip again.

DISCRIMINATION.

We do not tolerate discrimination of ANY kind. Racism, sexism, you name it. Discriminating against another person, if spotted by the staff or reported to us may result in an immediate ban depending upon the severity of the incident, so count yourself lucky if you get a warning. We're all very open people to all - any sexual orientation, skin colour, faith, gendered person is welcome here and we will not put up with any member who makes this a difficult environment for anyone. Discrimination equals bullying. Don't do it. You will get your ass kicked.

ACTIVITY.

We love our active members; they’re what keep the site going on a daily basis. So with that in mind, if you’re planning on joining, going through the application process then never actually plotting or posting, I would advise you turn around and leave now. We love seeing a big ‘active user’ list so logging in and posting, even just in the OOC section, will be greatly appreciated by us staffers. Makes it seem like our hard work isn’t for nothing. We appreciate that school/work/life in general makes this hard so we’re not expecting you to spend every waking hour on this site but if you’re going to be gone for longer than 4 days, please post an away notice for us all to see in the away board. This will also save you from any activity checks we may or may not carry out in your absence.

REGISTRATION.

Please register with your characters first, middle and last name all in lower case. If you make a mistake, simply PM one of our lovely staff and they’ll be happy to change it for you. Once you’ve registered, you’ll be required to fill out an application before you can make any proper posts. Take care when filling it out and spend some time on it; we love in depth characters and well thought out concepts. No one likes a Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu. Please allow up to 24 hours for your character to be accepted, we have lives too and can’t always be online all the time to accept applications but we’ll do our best to get it done within a day. Applications must be completed within ten days or they will be denied outright unless an issue has been brought to the attention of the staff.

CHARACTERS AND FACE CLAIMS.

You can have as many characters as you think you can handle but please try and keep it even. No one likes a site with an abundance of the same sex characters. It gets pretty boring if the ratio is 1 male to every 10 females of vice versa. Once you’re accepted you can go and claim your face. It’s a first come, first served basis and we don’t allow multiple characters with the same face unless they’re twins and the other player is ok with this. If the face you want is already claimed, please don’t ask if you can have it. You’ll have to wait until the activity check to see if the member leaves and if it ends up for grabs once more, feel free to change. If a face is claimed though, it’s claimed for a reason. We’ll allow reservations for up to one week and then the claim will become free again. We allow models and celebs as your PB, no cartoons etc. Lets keep it realistic.The claims are mandatory, both the who's who and the face claim. If you do not fulfill your claims, your face claim will not be valid and someone else may take your face. Also. It has come to our attention that often on sites, people will look through the member list and 'accidentally' create a name which is awfully similar to that of another member. We're not saying all characters must have a different forename but we don't allow two of the three names to be the same or exceedingly similar to another character. Please take the time to scan the member list once you've decided on a name to ensure no one else has one similar. The admin will send you a message and politely ask you to change should your name be too close to that of an already existing member.

GRAPHICS AND TEMPLATES.

Graphics give us a real feel for your character and what they look like and we, the staff, love them. Of course, they have to be sensible. There is no maximum size your signature can be but if it stretches the board, we reserve the right to remove it without warning and you’ll receive a friendly PM to let you know we’ve done this. We don’t want pornographic pictures either, because there will likely be a few younger members around that may stumble across them. Use your common sense. Also, feel free to use a dohtml template that you can find on all good resource sites. All boards allow them and they make even minimum word post counts look much better. Everything looks pretty when posted in a template. Of course, this isn’t compulsory… it’s whatever you’re most comfortable doing.

FINAL WORDS FROM THE STAFFING TEAM.

We hate out of character drama and/or online bullying of members and will not tolerate it at all. Acting like a child and creating unnecessary tension or drama for the sake of it will result in your IP being banned and your characters being deleted. Role-play is all about the fun and no one wants to sign on to be bitched at for petty reasons. We’re nice people but if you push us, we will stick together and you will come of worst in the scenario. Respect is a two way street, guys. We reserve the right to have the final say regarding everything that goes on on the board, often putting it to a vote and the majority rules. We’re sorry if you’re not comfortable with this being how the site is run but it’s how we roll.
