Big Things Have Small Beginnings is a neo-noir scifi RPG, based on the works of Ridley Scott (think: the brilliant mind behind the films Alien, Blade Runner, and Prometheus). We're set in the year 2093, thirty years before Ripley's ship took off. Weyland Industries, the face of new technology and advanced space travel, funded Project Prometheus. They set out to discovered the origins of mankind...and found so much more. Mankind is now reeling with the new discovery. Meanwhile, infections are spreading in other colonies, the military outpost is training in the event of an alien attack, and rescue ships have been sent out to find Prometheus. The space race is over; now, it's a race for survival.

WEYLAND
Weyland Industries is the forefront in science, technology, and global resources. Every day, Weyland biologists, military scientists, chemical engineers, geologists, mechanics, pilots and more work across our solar system to advance human interests and life. As they labor, new planets, natural resources, industries, modes of transportation and medical advancements emerge and evolve before our eyes.
With one caveat. Those working for Weyland Industries work for one man and one man only: Peter Weyland. They are required to carry out his orders under very serious threat. Those who work specifically for Weyland Industries will go in this group. If your character has been hired by Weyland, but works otherwise independently, they will NOT be part of the Weyland group.

ANDROID
Created to simulate life in everything except a soul, androids have proved to be a vital part of life on Earth, and beyond. Androids do not require the typical needs of their human counterparts: they do not require sleep, food, or drink. However, one might not ever know. Androids can physically blend in with humans, and with later models (such as the David 8 model), they can even portray human emotion.
Androids, however, can not actually feel that emotion. Many around the universe are concerned that androids are going to create their own superbreed of sociopaths, although their use is hard to deny. Until then, androids continue to amaze society with their abilities and lifelike human abilities.
Please note that, if you create an android, the playby MAY be used again, though only as an android and only three additional times. This is due to the simple fact that more than one model of android is created at a time.

INDEPENDENT
There is no affiliation here. There is no "Master" to whom they must report. Independents are characters that go on missions because they want to. Because they have passion for something. Anything. Geology, biology, psychology, medicine, Darwinism, anything. They have a thirst to learn, and though their mission may be funded by a bigger corporation (such as Weyland Industries), they love what they do, first and foremost.
On the other hand, independents may also have few goals. Perhaps they have stayed on Earth, in order to try and live a normal life. The information coming to Earth from Prometheus, however, will definitely affect your character. We found our makers... that is no small accomplishment.

MILITARY
The brawn. The muscle. The reason why the military is employed on missions is a bit like why androids are employed: if needed, they can step in and take the initiative to do something that may be viewed as "unsavory." With that being said, those in the military are flawed. They have emotions. And some of the deeds they may be asked to carry out can be disturbing.
Military personel not on missions are currently on Earth, or one of the other terraformed planets, are preparing for war. The Engineers have tried to destroy the crew of Prometheus, and created ways to destroy one another. Why? There could be a battle of epic proportions, and the military needs to be prepared.

BELLEROPHON
Originally founded by Michael Bellerophon, Bellerophon Industries has been the only other technologically sound corporation that has proved any sort of competition for Weyland Industries. Slightly newer, Bellerophon Industries prides itself on good will and technology that will better the universe, and has never wavered from that mission.
Bellerophon Industries founded the "Andrew," an android capable of learning. A complete breakthrough in android technology, to say the least. Michael Bellerophon used his androids to aid in the study of medical technology and pharmaceuticals, continuing to advance his models of androids up until his death.
Those who work for Bellerophon have the same mission in mind as Michael himself: Make the universe better, not through technology alone, but through good will and dedication. Bellerophon Industries employs scientists, doctors, surgeons, and androids, and consider themselves to be an equal opportunity corporation.
