Big Things Have Small Beginnings is a neo-noir scifi RPG, based on the works of Ridley Scott (think: the brilliant mind behind the films Alien, Blade Runner, and Prometheus). We're set in the year 2093, thirty years before Ripley's ship took off. Weyland Industries, the face of new technology and advanced space travel, funded Project Prometheus. They set out to discovered the origins of mankind...and found so much more. Mankind is now reeling with the new discovery. Meanwhile, infections are spreading in other colonies, the military outpost is training in the event of an alien attack, and rescue ships have been sent out to find Prometheus. The space race is over; now, it's a race for survival.

CALIX A. LANGLEY
I've always been one for getting the job done, no matter what measures I have to take. The only thing that really matters is that the crook either winds up dead or in jail, right? Well, maybe there's a little more to it than that, but nobody can deny that I do my job, and I do it well.
The name's Langley, Calix Langley. I'm a police officer over in Nightinggale Colony. And I'm one of the best. Nothing gets past me in this town. The higher ups have often questioned my rather unorthodox measures, but when a guy they've been chasing for months is finally behind bars, they usually look the other way. So what if I got a little violent in that questioning? You also can't forget the guy that murdured someone every week. Honest, I would have sworn that was a gun in his hand when I shot him. So I skipped a few steps, cut a few corners.
Look, I can't say my methods are naturally accepted, but they get the job done. And considering the fact that I've solved more cases than most cops, I don't see any reason to change. The streets are safe, the criminals in jail, and everybody's happy. What more could you ask for?
So how did I get to where I am now, exactly? That's a bit of a long story....
I've never left Nighinggale Colony. My parents came here when my mom was 6 months pregnant. My dad had gotten a new job and since a certain hospital here was supposed to be very good, my mom didn't complain. We were always in the middle class growing up, though never in the lower middle.
I got a reputation in school as the guy not tc cross. Somebody's getting bullied, I step in and throw a few punches of my own. I got sent to the principal's office a couple of times, but it wasn't for nothing.
At my parent's insistence, I went to college, and afterwards, straight into training. And a few months later, I was the proud new owner of an offical Nightinggale Police Force badge. The rest is history. Solving cases, keeping the citzens safe, the bad guys in jail, etc.
Well, not quite. I don't get involved personally with a case. No one does. It's practically a rule. I've been following that Dover woman for months. I nearly caught her once. And afterwards, I was almost glad I hadn't...
