[Opal Atwood]

Opal walked down the hall to the Winddancer's office. Some girl had flitted past her when Opal was getting up from taking a nap on the grass and alerted her that the winddancer's councelor would like to have a word.

She stood in front of the door, "knock, knock."
and waited, she was a bit excited to meet her oh, so special councelor.

Lily sat at her desk reading the files of the students she had in her group so far. Her hair was pulled back and she wore a lose dark purple shirt and blue jeans, as she read the words printed on each page, the stories broke her heart, she wanted to so bad to reach out to this girls, to help them. She just hoped she had something to offer, that she could be of some use.
She looked up when she heard a knock at the door and got up quickly to answer it. When she opened the door her eyes met a young girl who appeared to be about 15. Hi she said with a smile, you must be Opal Atwood. She reached out her hand to shake Opal's, I'm Lily Turner, its very nice to meet you.
She opened the door at the way and motioned for the girl to some in. Please have a seat and make yourself conformable. She closed the door behind the girl, moved over to her desk and turned the lamp off before opening the shade a bit more to let more natural light in. Lily turned back to Opal and sat down in the chair across from her.

Opal walked in, smiling back, and saying: "Nice to meet you too."
You couldn't help but smile when someone this beautiful was friendly to you, it was probably against the law.
She looked around the room, cozy, in a log cabin sort of way, like all the buildings around here, and it appeared she was still unpacking? Opal sat down and looked to the desk, her face grew a slightly greyer color as she saw her file laying open.
"What's up?"

Lily was so happy when the girl smiled back at her. After Opal sat down Lily saw her eyes travel to her open file on the desk. Lily reached over to it and closed it. Please don't be concerned about that in anyway, I had to read it, it kind of goes along with the job I guess. She didn't want Opal to think that she had judge her already just because she had read her file. As far as she was concerned it was just written words that meant nothing. It doesn't matter what it says, I want to learn what you are like from you not some stupid paper written by someone who's not even here.

Lily pushed her long sleeves up and pushed a few loose hairs behind her ear. Well, I just wanted to be able to say hi, you know meet one on one and all that. See if we could get to know each other a little bit, since we're both the "new girls" around her. She laughed slightly. Mostly however, I just want you to know that I'm here for you, if you need to talk, scream, cry blow off steam, day or night I'm here. Lily wanted Opal to know, that though they didn't know each other yet, she did care.

"OK..."
Opal raised her eyebrows questioningly and picked at her red fingernail polish.

Her mind kind of went blank when she thought about herself in a good way, so she directed her thoughts to horizon.
"There any other kids in our group?"

Lily watched as the girl picked at her nails hoping she would say something. When she did Lily listened to the question and said, Yes, there is we have another girl names Cory in our group. Our group is actually an all girl's group, I'm sure we'll be getting more people though. She was happy the girl had questions and was willing to ask them.

Opal looked up alarmed, "ALL girls?? ...forever? or just for now??"
she was never the all-girl-letsgettogetherforasleepover type.

How could she possibly be put in an all-girls group? does being bi, mean you only get to hang out w/ girls at horizon? that doesn't make sence...

Her chair was suddenly very uncomfortable.

Lily's eyes widened a little at the girl'd reaction to finding out that the Wind Dancer's was an all girl group. Opal, relax, just because the group itself is all girls doesn't mean you'll only be interacting with girls. Horizon itself is coed. Lily made a mental note of the girl's reaction, wondering for a moment if there was something behind it. Is there something wrong with an all girl group?

"I didn't sign up for an all girl group!" she snapped back.
An ember of hate started flaring up in her head... they were sure turning psychological tricks on her, putting her in an all girl group. why? Probably because that's who she abused... weak pathetic, beautiful girls.

"and I don't want to be with all girls!"
she loathed herself for sounding so winey, like one of those singers she hated-- like half of the girls in her class.

Lily was taken aback a little, she hadn't expect the topic to be this big of a concern for Opal. She looked into the teens eyes, not sure what to say next. It'll be OK Opal, I promise. See you were placed in the Wind Dance because that's where the head counselors thought you'd benefit most from. She spoke calmly, trying to calm Opal, she knew the girl was near the enraged point and she didn't want to feed into it. She smiled weakly and continued, There's nothing wrong with being in an all girl group. If you don't mind me asking, why is you don't want to be in the group?

"because. because i don't!" she gave Lily her why-won't-you-help-me? look.
Opal really couldn't explain why.

"Just cuz I want to be in a group with guys." She picked at her fingernail more pitifully.

"Why did you choose an all-girls group?" She changed her mind, stupid question, it'd get off the point."

"Why can't we just have some guys in the group??" She felt like shooting herself (haha, not really) for whining.

Lily's heart felt for the girl, she knew that being here at the school, wasn't easy for any of the students. Their first few weeks were filled with surprises and she knew that some were easier to accept then others. Well, I'm not sure why an all girl group was chosen for you, can you think of any reason why? She waited for an answer.
She shifted in her chair so she was more comfortable. I'll tell you what we can do, just give the group a chance, seeing the look Opal gave her Lily quickly added, just for a week or two. If it still bothers you this much I'll talk to Hannah about it and see if we can work something out. However, she said firmly, I'm asking you, not telling you mind you, just asking you to keep an open mind and give this group a chance.

Opal glared back at Lily, her foot slipped and hit the ground. she looked to her side, away from her, trying to avoid her eyes. She was pissed off, cause she knew that Lily was right, and being awfully reasonable. she swallowed the ball of hate, and tryed to let it simmer down.
She wanted to be back at home reading slash, or watching a sci-fi movie, or whatever, as long as she was alone and warm.

Lily watched the girl for a moment. She didn't want to push the girl into talking about anything she wasn't ready to talk about yet. She knew that everything and everyone came around in their own time. She got up, walked over to her desk and opened a draw to the leave of it. She reached in and pulled out a small black book and walked back over to Opal. Listen, I know that sometimes ou're just not going to want to talk about things, you know things that upset you, things about your past, your present or future and how you feel about them. I want you to be able to talk to me, I really care about you and want to help you, but I also don't want to push you. I know when I was a teenage I loathed the counselors and doctors who tried to rip the truth out of me. Therefore, she handed Opal the book I want you to take this and write down anything you want. She looked for the girl for a reaction. What's inside you, you know, you're pain, it's poison, and it needs to come out, but in a healthy way OK?

Opal let her arm hang suspended. "I already have a journal."
She could tell the councelor really was nice and wanted to help, and felt half sorry for her.
Opal would write in her journal everynight, about her feelings, and thoughts and what she'd done, but her actions could never be explained and then she'd watch a movie and the characters like her would always end up in the mental institution hanging themselves, they never grew, and no one could ever help them. It was stupid.
