Ava clutched onto her bag as the officer opened the door for her. I guess they thought that she wasn't much of a threat because they didn't handcuff her, that or else the officer knew he could take her down (which was probably true).

The officer lead her by the back of her arm. She jumped when he touched her, but he didn't seem to notice. He herded her inot the buliding as though she were cattle. She didn't mind much. He probably thought she was retarded. She hadn't said much since they found her in an apartment above a store on South street in Philly. She found no reason to talk. That and she was still trying to cope with coming off heroine.

Cloaked in her favorite oversized ;ongsleeved t-shirt cotton black shirt and her blue jeans, she tried diverting her attention from the thoughts that seemed to not want to go away. Her hands were shaking a bit as she clutched her bag like a bear in front of her. She decided that she could count th estairs she was climbing--anything to get her mind off her thoughts and her wants for drugs to escape her thoughts.

Ava let the officer direct her by the arm into a small office area. She passed a tall lanky boy leaving the office as she entered. He didn't look too thrilled. She laugh to herself in her head. She knew that she looked just as thrilled as he did.

The officer ushered her into a chair outside of an office and went over to talk to a shorter, bulkier officer that was wasting a bit of time in the office.

Ava didn't know what was going to happen next, but she tried everything to keep her mind off what had been bothering her. She started to count the ceiling tiles, hoping that it would deter her from collapsing internally yet again.
