THE DAMS Cleverly named, the Dams is a cluster of 'towns' on the southern border of the district, with one giant town square at the center an acre wide. These settlements sit at the edeg of a northernforest. Most are middle class in District seven, so the dams are fairly nice.

THE SMOG Downtown Eight is so polluted that people just refer to it as 'going into the smog'. You can see the dirty air, settled over the downtown area like a blanket from miles away. In this are you'll find the factories, shops, and main square.

THE SMOKESTACKS So named because everyone lives stacked on top of each other in apartments, and for the layer of soot that falls on everything, the smokestacks is where residents of D8 live.

THE EMPTIES UNLIKE THE OTHER DISTRICTS, EIGHT ISN'T SURROUNDED BY WILDERNESS, BUT BY THE RUINS OF ANCIENT SUBURBS. CALLED 'THE EMPTIES', REBELS HAVE CONSTRUCTED TUNNELS WHICH GET THEM TO CERTAIN AREAS IN THE DESTROYED SUBURBS, WHICH THEY USE AS THEIR PLACES OF GATHERING.

THE SEAM District 12 is the poorest of the districts and that is reflected in the state of disrepair of the seam. Residents live in shacks, some no more than one or two rooms.

THE MERCHANT AREA There aren't many shops in 12 but the ones that are can be found outside of the seam in a town square that's in better shape than the residential area. The merchants usually live above their shops rather than in the seam.

THE HOB During the war the hob served as first a warehouse but then a headquarters for the rebels in 12. It has since been abandoned, though, and several residents have begun to trade black market items here.

UNDERGROUND Beneath the earth of District thirteen is a series of catacombs miles deep. It includes enough room to house the entire surviving population, a hospital, weapons manufacturing, and endless hallways the survivors have barely begun to explore.

MAIN SQUARE Not unlike Times Square, these blocks are surrounded by shops and businesses with wildly flashing lights and advertisements everywhere. The best shopping in Panem is at this square.

CAPITOL HILL The political center of Panem, Capitol Hill is where the politicians do their work. Most have their mansions here as well, near the President's Mansion, which sits at the top in bright white glory.
