Central Park Central Park is a public park located in the heart of Manhattan. It is 843 acres worth of city-owned land. In 1858, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux won a competition that allowed them to improve and expand the park with the Greensward Plan. The construction was completed in 1873. Statue of Liberty The Statue of Liberty is one of the most visted US landmarks, and is a colossal neoclassical sculpture located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. It was designed by Frédéric Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886. The female figure represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, and carries a torch and tabula, on which is inscribed the American Declaration. |
