Earlier in the day on
11/24/2011, the following notice was posted on the billboard at Erilyn, and tacked to several places along the road in the Beneath, as well as somewhere in most of the major cities:
ATTENTION!
On Tuesday, the following note was found having drifted up through the Tunnels from, presumably, the Caves --
I'm sorry.
All of you, I'm so sorry.
It killed everyone. Everyone at the site. You cannot fathom the full depth of its power, of its <scribbles; a phrase has been scratched out>. You cannot fathom the full implications of what has occurred -- and now it is loose, and we are all doomed. What was once <smudges> is now something too horrible for mere mortal imagining; to see it would be to die or worse.
Or, I should say -- not kill.
It did not kill them; it took them. Some of them, yes it did kill-- but not all of them. Some of them it dragged far below, to the levels even the most brave do not dare to venture upon. The lair of <scribbles> wherein <almost two lines are scratched out here; the paper is torn slightly, spattered with blood>.
To whomever finds this, I am sorry.
Stay away from here. You must not go down here. The costs outweigh whatever discovery you may find. This work must not be continued. You must not do this.
It is signed, but the ink is smeared and blurred so badly it's incomprehensible.
To all of those who read this -- it is unwise to tarry in the lower levels of the Tunnels, and even more unwise to venture into the Caves. Those of you who find yourselves needing to travel through them must wait or find another path if you wish to heed this warning.
