Hey fellow AHR lovers!
Sooo i'm trying the forum, but for some reason its a bit intimidating haha
Like Awtum suggested, I start the topic about Kou's hug, and I agree that its probably half dontwanttoletgo half dontlookatmymanlytears. BUT Futaba started to let go first, so in my fantasies I like to think that Kou was fine staying in Fu's arm forgetting all his troubles smile.gif
Anyway, since Kou got conscious and embarrassed (and got this crazy cute expression on his face) over it, it count as a real hug to me biggrin.gif
Also I would have like to see more of his crying face~~~~

What do you guys think about it?

(Yay, first topic *^*) Well, I think the hug was a pretty natural reaction after the emotional storm they went through. The whole chapter was about Kou's past and Futaba trying to 'smash' his walls, and when she did, I think he hugged her for three different reasons; to comfort her/himself, to hide his 'manly' tear (as Blabla said) and, somehow, to thank her for making him realize that caring for people again is alright.

#Or maybe it was just his hormones getting hyper.#

Anyways, AWESOME CHAPTER! cool.gif

Awww, I like to think he wanted to stay a little bit longer hugging her, and pretended it was because of he didn't want her to see his tears. The scene is so beautiful to see, and... and... OMG, it's Kou, guys! The cold-heart guy who seems to not care for anything, suddenly asking her to not break the hug yet! *----*

Well, I don't know if you agree, but I think this so biggrin.gif He was really comfortable for the first time in a long time, so he wanted to enjoy a little bit xD

Lol, I'm Awtum and it was a little intimidating... so thanks for going through with it!!

I say it's:
1/3 Trying to mask tears
1/3 Enjoying the feel of Futaba hugging him
1/3 Just getting some emotional support

He's kind of a tortured guy, he needs the lovins, esp the non-romantic ones.

I think her hormones were more in it than his but I think it really kick-started his. It's not like he didn't like Futaba at all before this moment, but before now he didn't believe he had the right to fantasize about it... and now he's been set free to love Futaba... by Futaba. <3

((I know it's kinda what you already said, Yosh-ioka, I just wanted to put my own spin on it I guess)).

Chapter 14 is probably the best chapter so far... but it only is that way with the buildup of all the previous chapters...ahhh that's what I love about AHR :D

and JESS: Interesting theory, that the bit with the tears is just a reuse. That's amazing <3 <3

True! True! The forum intimidates a lot! Brave you, Blabla, brave you! Thank you for breaking the ice! biggrin.gif

I think he hugged her because he wanted to and probably needed it too (the wipe of the tears is a circumstancial fact and I'm with Jess in that he use it as an excuse). If not was a real hug what's the point of all the flowery patterns, 293438 panels and the scene in general?
Sakisaka-sensei likes to play dirty and makes scenes that create confussion -making her own protagonist confused too-. That's the problem in here! Ņaņaņaņaņa! Right! Since she's the author and knows perfectly what is happening, why not make her readers suffer til their heads collapse?! -I still have burned in my poor little brain Ninako's constantly thinking that Ren didn't feel anything for her during the 36 chapters of SE, when he felt tickle, tickle little stars, since the very beginnig...-.
Well, back to the topic, if he wanted to hide his face or wipe his tears -and I guess he wanted-, there was plenty of ways of doing it so. There's always other ways availables for Kou... but he always choose the "let's touch Futaba way" xDDD.

Yep I agree with all of you and Enim, you're so right. He had other ways to hide his tears but he always touches her unconsciously. It's like his body HAS to do it.biggrin.gif
Also, that scene reminded me of when Futaba was about to cry and they were people coming and he hugged her to hide her face...Can't remember which chapter it was.

What makes me think it was unconscious is how shy he acted with her the next day. He probably thought about it the whole night tongue.gif How I wish Sakisaka sensei would have a whole chapter with Kou's point of view....

Heeeeeey! Can I dream a little bit here? Please, don't hit me xD
Let's think about two covers: first, the cover of chapter 10. It's written "You've been walking around in a night I never knew about" on it and then, after two chapters, on chapter 12, we have Futaba thinking about Kou "walking in a night unknow to me". No one can deny it's totally related, right?
Now, on the same chapter 12, we have the cover where Futaba is holding the little black cat (some people said he simbolizes Kou, aaaw, it's good to think this *-* and even Yuuri says "he is like a cat") and "Don't go anywhere. It's warmer when you're here" is there. Then, again after two chapters, on chapter 14, we have Kou doesn't wanting to break the hug so early. Could it be he didn't want Futaba to "go anywhere", because "it's warmer" when she is there?
OMG. This guy, I... I just can't. Seriously. Y U NO EXIST?

What do you guys think about my not-even-a-little-bit-crazy theory? xD

I like this idea! As far as the whole cat-symbolizing-Kou thing...it makes sense, and maybe that cover with Futaba and the cat was some slight foreshadowing, although you would have to really read into it to see it....but that's why we are all here! smile.gif

Shoujo rules= whatever the character is thinking why his/her love is doing a certain thing, its 99% of the time the real reason is the opposite. So if we apply this rule, Kou just simply wants to hug her lol. His pent up angst becasue of his mom's death and the desire to be happy, finally all burst out, channeling through that hug. Though I have to give a kudo to Sakisaka, she makes the situation very believable, and the ambiguity actually doesn't feel force fed here.
