Compound Computer Technician Membergroup:
Brinley was born to a genographer and a pharmacologist on the NewLife compound. Her parents were naturally too busy for their daughter as their job was to to crack the code on immortality--even a long shot with oodles of technology and government funding--so Brin was mainly raised by Ella, her nanny. She was lucky her parents had more money than they could enjoy. Ella was a good nanny and watched out for Brin's best interests. She was kept sheltered from the harsh world that abounded on the internet. They'd go for walks and to the park. Ella wanted Brin to value the environment--even if it was genetically perfected roses.
Ella didn't believe in all the science and 'progress'. Brin would later find out that Ella hadn't always been a nanny. Her husband had been a high ranking scientist at the compound but he had been terminated. In the permanently terminated sense of the word. As Brinley aged, Ella continued to share information on her husband's untimely demise. Brin was smart girl. Exceptionally good with computers, she set to work researching the death of Jamar Benton, Ella's husband. What Brinley found was...startling.
It had been murder. Jamar had known too much about a controversial project. He opposed it, he threatened to turn in the NewLife CEO. Instead he was injected with a bad batch of NewLife serum and was found dead in his office. The part that disturbed Brinley the most was that her mother, Lily, had taken Jamar Benton's former position. Gulp. She shared the information with Ella. She felt some closure, it seemed. Ella quit the next day. Brin looked for her in the phone book--tried to keep communication--but Ella disappeared. Gone.
Brin began to distrust the community. NewLife seemed so posh and happy, but there was a dark undercurrent. Now a junior in high school, Brin explored the internet and it's many horrors freely. She began to compile more files on similar cases. It seemed no compound was untouched by corruption. The Corp SeCorps were paid to look the other way--and cover it up in many cases. Deep shit.
She didn't even know how to act in front of her parents. It was a relief that they were rarely home. An even bigger relief when she was accepted into SamTech, the #1 university for computer science and programming. Her parents showed a vague disappointment that Brinely didn't want to study a 'applicable' science but Brin didn't invest much in their opinion. After 18 years, she barely knew them.
Once at university, Brin fell into a ring of like minded individuals--aka hackers. She learned more from her hacker buddies than in her classes. SamTech's professors seemed highly overrated. One of her friends, Kryss, showed her the coolest thing ever. MaddAddam. Cooler than the game was the portal you could click on. Kryss was an Adamite. It didn't take much convincing for the already disenfranchised Brin to come over to the Adamites. She and Kryss had a brief relationship, but it wasn't meant to be. Brin stayed in touch though as she was eternally grateful that Kryss had introduced her to MaddAddam. She took the code name Thylacine--the Tasmanian tiger. Tenacious, brilliant, and willing to put it all on the line for her passions--the name suited her.
Brinley graduated with reasonable marks despite rarely stepping foot inside the classroom. After consulting with the upper Adamites, Brin took a job at the compound that she hated so much. Nothing glamorous; just a mere computer repair technician. But it was a prime position. Going into the homes of scientists and taking care of their tech allowed her unprecedented access to all of the dark, juicy secrets no one was supposed to know. Inevitably the employees would pick up a computer virus, designed by Brin, and she'd dutifully go clean their hard drive. Not before extracting valuable intelligence, of course.
Recently Brin has been spending her waking moments on MaddAddam and chatting with her fellow freedom fighters. Particularly one in particular...but that's another story. She's putting her life on the line daily for the cause. If Jamar was that easily disposable, Brin is even more so. Somehow she just can't seem to care.
-Intelligent. Just because Brin decided to work on software and computers doesn't mean she's not as brilliant as the researches at NewLife.
-Sharp witted. She's got a wry sense of humor and a sharp tongue. She loves verbal combat.
-Dedicated. Brinley fully believes in the cause of the Adamites. She'd die for the cause. She likely will.
-Creative. She's designed some potentially catastrophic viruses for the compound computer systems and her new task is...more large scale. She could knock out half of the compounds with the right connections.
-She's an idealist. She believes in the cause--at all costs.
-Risk taker--Brinley has nearly been caught more times than she can count.
-Hot headed. On one hand, it makes her extremely passionate. On the other, it makes her a potential loose cannon.
-Cocky--she can't help but leave a tiny signature on each piece of work she does.
