Tokyo, Japan. Population is 12, 790, 000 and growing.
It is said that, from space, Tokyo glows brighter than any other city. But beneath the facade of beaming neon signs, hardworking locals, and awe-struck tourists, there lies an underground network of lost hopes and faded dreams.
Built upon rickety pillars of ancient power, prestige, and terror, there is the Japanese yakuza, a name that strikes fear into the hearts of Tokyo’s multi-millions. To foreigners, they are simply known as the “Ashes” – a cruel reminder of their ability to singe everything in a kilometer radius from them. They run the entire country. For hundreds of years even the Imperial Family bowed down to the Ashes’ leaders.
At the start of the new millennium, the Dragons enter the picture.
They were feared over in the United States. The name “Dragon” is an understatement – mixing up with them is worst than even the most vicious mythical creature. When the Dragons gained insight on the Ashes, and how much money the yakuza earned off of foreign trade every year, the commanders and their best men shipped themselves over to Tokyo.
And they were not met with hospitality. Tensions raged between the two groups. For five years diplomats met in ambiguous meetings, hoping to reach a sort of compromise.
In 2005, the Dragons’ commander tired of it all. With the slightest motion of his wrist, he sent out his three best assassins.
Later that evening, the son of the Ashes’ leader was found dead at their headquarters, with nothing but a weird pattern of dragon scales etched into his skin.
Any fragments of optimistic thoughts that the two crime organizations would one day find peace shattered, and the full blown war has only just begun. The city of Tokyo has been split into three sides: those supporting the Ashes, those aiding the Dragons, and those that formed independent parties, either because they don’t want to be a part of it, or because they’re hoping the two most notorious delinquent congregations will destroy each other.
However, then there are those that saw potential in the war of the gangs, and under complete secrecy, started their own organization. The Knights are a new name in Tokyo, though who they are or even where they are is a complete mystery. Nobody knows where they started, or even what their ultimate goal is. All they seem intent on doing is causing more havoc between the rival gangs, hacking into their systems are causing more problems.
Even Tokyo's finest can't seem to track these delinquents down.
Tokyo is burning. From bloodied sidewalks to tainted streets, the war is here, right now.
